It was intented to be a meme at first, but would it be possible to just hand-animate the large sleeves? I even did it myself on a model but it was way simplier than mordy (canned animations, one bone and like 16 polygons). Obviously Mordhau models are several levels more complex than that, and I don't if it still would be feasible.

Having individual bones for individual pieces is probably possible but hand animating it would not be too viable for us, making it dynamic is not the problem here really. The problem is appending bones to the character rig, which is sorta possible to do but something that we have not really dealt with yet and would take quite a bit of experimenting to get working well.

Do you consider trying something like that post-release?

Perhaps, can't promise anything, I'd certainly be interesting figuring out how well it'd work.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while i tested, weak and weary,
over many a feint and curious trade of forgotten lore--
While I sat with indignation, suddenly came a notification
As of some one gently @ing, @ing at my Mord Discord
"Tis some piece of shit," I muttered, "@ing at my Mord Discord--
Only this and nothing more."

We already have the burgonet and elizabethan armor, some super late-period items like hussar stuff, rapier, zweihander etc.

We're pretty much stopping at the point where armor was being phased out or reduced to the point of not looking medieval.

For example, this is like 1550's armor, guns were definitely a thing but this still looks medieval enough

Yeah sabers are cool but we're pretty much settled on equipment for release at this point.

I'd like to see em later with a cool gimmick or mechanic that separates them from the messer.

Killing teammates makes you lose score, so it's counterproductive.

Also killing teammates means not killing enemies and getting more score.

Back em up, full reset for release most likely.

KDR does nothing.

At the end of the match the game assigns a gold value based on the time played. It also determines the average score in the match. If you have average score you get the assigned gold value, above average score you get more, below average you get less (down to a minimum gold amount).

Also TDM isn't the best for gold gain since it works off of averages/time. getting 20 kills in a moshpit TDM over 10 minutes might put you at above average but you'd still get less than being the top player in a different mode. Probably would be FL because longer matches and since there's more people there's more potential to outperform the average player. Also you don't actually have to be that good, you get a lot of points for just capping flags in Frontline.

  1. Most weapons fall within a 300-500 price range. You average player will make ~1k gold/hour. Gold is awarded based on score and time spent. Currently, gold amounts are based on average match score, if you're just terrible at the game you get the minimum amount but even then you will be fine.

  2. As far as I know, private servers won't have gold enabled, neither will local. Incorrect, see marox's reply.

  3. Yes, automatic unlocks.

  4. None will be unlocked at default but you'll have a range of starting mercenaries (2h, hybrid character, archer etc.)

  5. Yeah, for example one starting class has the zwei on it. Could change but probably not going to - default classes are meant to be actually viable.

  6. They will get gold regardless, if you lose you will get gold, same if you win. It's based on your score and time in the match.

  7. Currently they are all unlocked at the start. Could change though.

  8. There won't be competitive on release anyways, and the soft matchmaking for FL won't take this into consideration. Not having every weapon unlocked doesn't make it an unfair playing field when you can still outplay people with a starter class.

  9. As said above no gold for private matches or custom modes. Once again incorrect, my bad.

  10. No, but with how easy it will be to unlock weapons it's a non-issue.

There will be 4 Tiers of cosmetics that can be unlocked only through gaining a certain amount of kills this could be new models or weapon tint.

Not true, that's not how it works.

This raises the question on the number of base weapons a player will have access to in addition to whether these base weapons will be viable as time goes on or are these weapons specifically starter weapons and should not be used for the long run if a player would like to be META.

There will be good, viable starter classes and unlocking new weapons will take almost no time, you'll probably be able to unlock all weapons in a day or two

By now your wondering how long it would take to unlock all cosmetics in the game? The Answer is to this question is 500hrs of total gameplay assuming you are actively participating and not memeing around. The number generated is based on "the average release players" or more specifically the average alpha player. This is flawed for the simple fact that the sample size of a small number of players who actively playing the game.

You're assuming we based in on the average alpha player, which we didn't. Your average alpha player would be unlocking things much quicker.

I would strongly consider the time in which it would take for the casual player to unlock all weapons (no cosmetics) to keep the playing field even as there are obvious weapons that are far better than others in the current weapon.

Unlocking a shortspear currently requires level 1 and 300 gold. Unlocking one of the heads for the short spear is 1500 gold. You will be able to unlock weapons relatively easily, it won't take much time at all. It will take ~500 hours for your average new player to unlock every single thing in the game, but much less time to unlock the things they want, and after a few hours you can pretty much have a loadout of your choosing.

When people HAVE to do a tutorial they tend to ignore and rush through as fast as they can - offering an incentive will make people simply interested in completing it.

Tutorial won't be mandatory, instead it's heavily incentivized with a good amount of gold on the first completion.
