It's been one hell of a ride thus far, and it's only been 7 days. None of us would've expected this reception in our wildest dreams.
As of today MORDHAU has sold just shy of 500.000 copies and we have reached a peak of 60.000 concurrent players yesterday. These are just mindblowing numbers to us, and we still haven't fully realized that MORDHAU is currently among the top played games on Steam.

Unfortunately the launch wasn't as smooth as we had hoped. Server performance was abysmal and reward drops such as Gold and XP, as well as unlocks were not functioning properly. We are still in the process of seting up new servers in regions that need them and as a result the Matchmaking can still be spotty. There's also some other Matchmaking related bugs that prevent parties from joining the same game, or BR lobbies to populate very slowly, but we're on top of that. All things considered, the majority of launch issues have been resolved. As for compensation of the lost Gold and XP. We have not forgotten about it and will be shipping it via the next patch.

Right now we are addressing some of the more frequent and critical issues, like the "Ghost Bug" among others, as well as some map exploits. These past few days had been very hectic for us, but things are starting to somewhat get back in order.

Looking ahead for future updates, we've got a couple new maps in mid-production: Castello and Feitoria. Here's a few impressions on the latter.

On top of that we will start looking into Ranked/Competitive modes, starting with duels. However we cannot give an exact timeframe on when you can expect these updates to be rolled out yet. We are terrible when it comes to estimating things, I'm sure our alpha players can attest to that.

Additionally we will keep adding new armor pieces and weapon skins here and there, as well as some new character customization options.
Goals further down the line would be to release Modding Tools, as a lot of you seem to be very eager to create some custom content.

We've got lots of ideas for improvements to the maps and gamemodes. There's also been some amazing feedback and suggestions coming from you guys. When it comes to balancing and tweaking of mechanics, we are pretty happy with how things are looking right now, but we will start tweaking some things soon.

In closing we'll take this opportunity to give some shout-outs.

What a ride! The day of Mordhau's release is finally here. Our target is to go live today April 29th @ 10 AM PDT. We will be launching with a base price of $29.99 (Steam currency/regional pricing applies!) and a 10% launch discount. Besides the base game, for those who really want to go the extra mile to support us, you'll also be able to purchase the Supporter Pack containing the soundtrack, Medallion (necklace) wearable cosmetic and Mercenary banner. Those who wish to purchase the Steam key to the game on our webshop, will be able to do so here when the game is released, and a lot more money from those sales will go to the developers, as Steam won't take their cut.

Anyone who backed the game at $40 or more (Beta level, which contained the Soundtrack) will receive the Supporter Pack as part of their pledge via Steam key on the account you've registered on our website. So please keep this in mind to avoid purchasing the Supporter Pack twice! Please give us an extra couple of days to supply these Supporter Pack keys to you, as we ran into some delays there.

All backers should have received their rewards by now (except the soundtrack). Before the forums are flooded with newcomers and peasants I simply wanted to say thank you to all the devs at Triternion.

Not only for making this fun and good looking game, but also for releasing the game. Which sadly, is not a thing for many crowd funded games (Hello Sui Generis/Examina).

Even though I was not particularly an active alpha/beta player, it was really nice to see the progress of the development and how you guys kept adding stuff to the game. I'm really glad to have participated in the Kickstarter.

I hope the game will sell well and that you may have other opportunities to send more stuff for us in the future !

Chapter Four:

Imagine something you love was constantly getting tooled around with by cavemen and baboons who will never use it and clearly don't want it used outside of TO by noobs who don't know better. You'd write more essays on here, too if your favorite weapons/loadouts or in my case, favorite playstyle was constantly being derped with by people who would rather use GS, messer, baxe or cleaver with rehearsed look down drags/feints and accels.

Buckler is the only "shield" these apes would ever use and only on their cleaver archer loadouts. As cool as buckler sounds it's really just something to make archers harder to kill. If parrying arrows is easier than blocking them with shield, which is certainly my experience... then buckler will ironically be a better archer counter than heater shield. Buckler will be better than shield and better than parry and it's only real weakness, in the hands of a top player, would be the fact that offense is limited to 1h.

Buckler is only directly weak to feints so noobs will get rekt if they try crutching on it but for a melee god with falchion or mace, buckler has all the benefits of parry with extra time(drag negation) AND extra stamina, since you keep stamina when disarmed with it. For those of you who don't know, buckler gets a super parry instead of a held block along with extra stamina.

My point is that typical shields will be gimped by more clunkiness next patch with less raised speed and potentially continued lower delay to force kick stun to (hopefully finally) work and let cavemen gamble kick them more successfully but these same cavemen who think hitting around shield is too hard and kicking currently takes too much skill will get buckler and so long as they read/mitigate feints they will be better off than with plain parry. Buckler is also cheaper than most shields (: Im sure buckler will be banned from most comp tournaments.

Buckler is a shield designed for apes while actual shields were designed to be formulaically beaten by apes, be it spam outside of initiative, stamina war or gamble kick stun. The kicks in this game were designed to be very risky and ultimately, defensive with little reach and no recovery afterwords... so by nature, they are a poor choice as a hard counter against any thing, especially backstepping shields. Who ever thought kickstun was appropriate spent too much time messer trading in Chivalry. Now next patch, shields will have slower raised speed to (in the caveman's mind?) make them easier to spam kick and lower delay means reading a kick, so you lower your shield to avoid kick stun but dont have the time to counter kick. SO you still take stamina and health damage from the kick even if you read the kick. If you use 1h, your almost always in kick range unless you have short spear/rapier and or light armor...

So the more annoying and rat like your playstyle the more likely you are to be impregnable with shield, but the more honest and direct, or burdened down by armor, the more likely you are to constantly get kicked, though you won't often get kick stunned if you've got a few hundred hours.

So isn't continued kick stun and oncoming decreased shield run speed simply a nerf to T3 shield users while rats with shield still get to bait kicks and be otherwise invulnerable to drags/feints, etc? Oh and decreased raised shield run also makes shooting shield users easier for archers... so it's also an archery buff.

Plot twist: The weakened shield user finally gets to the archers and they whip out cleaver/buckler and spam slashes and kicks to rape the guy. Then they tell him how bad he is for trying to crutch on shield and he should go play For Honor or any other melee game if he doesn't like 100% timing based caveman meta combat.

Not to mention there's South American commies all over these forums. As if Nazis and Europeans weren't bad enough.

Oh and don't even get me started on the miserable creatures who complain about women in Mordhau. Yes, the harsh reality of women in Mordhau will be porno screaming, Executioner sword-wielding, hentai princesses controlled by fat, sweaty neck beards... but what can you do? I know, I know, it's tough being male, middle class and white... but it's 2019, we must have female and genderless avatars and YES, unfortunately we must have black people, too.

Shields require some reading but at high level it's easy reading.

What I mean is shield parry box is still large enough that misreading where an attack goes is ok because the parry box is so large. But the parrybox is just small enough that very advanced waterfalls or morphs get around it... So noobs get killed by attacks they have no hope of reading while also getting kick stunned. But a player like me doesn't get kicked and reads/mitigates waterfalls well enough to do ok against better players and get free hits when they try to kick and through 1h cheese.

Kick stun only hurts noobs and ironically nearly everytime I've been kick stunned was on EU 1vX despite reading or trying to bait the kick but ofc ping is a major factor. Or when fighting face hug mace/baxe/rapier pokes and being dumb enough to try blocking these. Kick stun is only intuitive to people because Chivalry had it. For what other reason would throwing my foot at a shield be more disruptive than a mace or longsword?

Please listen to me and cease this kick stun madness. You devs made parry size very forgiving regardless of weapon size but made them very brief so they still require skill... It only makes sense that if something gets an infinite parry it then becomes unforgiving to where location is concerned.

If you try to buff kicks by making them faster or giving them more reach than you're actually not nerfing shields but all 1h. If you try to force kick stun to "work" by making shields slower then you're nerfing specifically footwork/stamina/1vX of all shields by making them clunky: Lower delay prevents a shield user from kicking an incoming kick they read and if they just lower the shield they still take kick damage and stamina damage.... but with 1h they're constantly in kick range. If you leave kick stun as is then noobs will constantly be in kick stun while most people are getting baited when they try to kick in a shield. Kick stun has to go or it's not going to be worth it for noobs to use and will actually be worse off than Chivalry's shields.

Please listen to me, I love shields and they're either a complete joke, totally op or a complete waste the way they've been balanced lately. Fire pot's a better investment than shield for someone just starting to play the game, especially if kicks are somehow buffed.
