This is what I mean with drags readability, they are way too subtle and hard to tell the difference when done properly. Notice how when not in slomo, you literally can't tell the diference between a accelerated or a delayed overhead. The stabs are also hard as shit to read, but I'd say they are a bit less then the overheads, sometimes. This question extends itself to the whole combat system, with every weapon, with every attack angle; these on the video are just the most glaring ones imho.
What do you guys think? Imho, this makes so chambering becomes a gamble, thus if you want to play safe, you won't chamber but try to hard-read feints instead, as it is a safer option to deal with feints then chambering. Seriously, some fights I do like 3, 4 attacks, and if my opponent tries to chamber all of them, he ends up eating these 3 or 4 attacks, same when I try to chamber what they throw at me in a row, and I'm not even talking about the flinch thing, it truly is the lack of readability what is going on as sometimes me or my opponent doesn't even combo, but we eat the hit while trying to chamber it anyways.
Some dude on reddit said that attacks should not be 100% readable otherwise the game becomes stale. Ok, that makes sense, but what is the treshold? For me, this is way too unreadable, it is unreliable to try and chamber attacks tbh.
Does the new animations affect this particular readability thing with drags? Honestly, I have no problem to tell the direction the attack is coming from when I try to chamber. What fucks with my chambers attempts are A) these animations that are really hard to tell the difference and B) goddamn 240 system having it's own will sometimes, lmao.

I think it is worth mentioning, the method we used to make the video and reach these conclusions was simple, I asked Frise to chamber everything I throwed at him, so I did normal overheads without manipulating the tracers, accels and delays and with no order and without telling him what I was going to do, so this way I forced him to hard-read my attacks. Same with the stabs.

At first I thought mordhau was really strange, I couldn't get the feel for it. Attacks felt weird, 240 attack system was pure wizardry I couldn't make ANY attack in the direction I wanted, and footwork also felt strange, specially while sprinting foward and attacking.
Then it clicked and holy shit, these things are making more sense to me. I don't even use old chiv binds anymore tbh its all 240 system and indeed it feels natural as fuck, chambering got simpler because before I had to either scroll wheel down, up, or press thumb button to chamber while also needing to resort to the 240 system. Now its just the directional system, way "cleaner", thumb button became jump even and I'm waiting to see what scrol wheel down will be.
I honestly enjoy this game a lot, and I have played with about 170 ping, its fully playable (won't say on a competitive level because who da fuck knows that), but I can parry, chamber do whatever fuck and it almost never feels like "hey that was lag", although sometimes it is noticiable, specially with the foward movement after attacking.
Anyways, with high ping and bots I'm already having a blast, holy shit one can only imagine when this game actually lauches and we get a fuckload of br people playing it.
Slasher was cool, but idk mordhau feels MUCH better.
Just suggest to new players as soon as they get into the menu something like "you are about to get destroyed if you don't have prior experience with first person melee games, playing the tutorial is highly recomended, also u get gold to have access to cool customization".
Make the tutorial button highly visible in the main menu, once the person gets obliterated in the game, they will go back to the menu and see a big button saying GIT GUD HERE.
No point in forcing people, some of which will mostly play horde mode, into a tutorial imho. Not even strategy games that are 1897458174817 times more complex than mordhau forces you into a tutorial.

I imagine there isnt much the devs can tell us about progress that is actually interesting. They must be coding and maping things. Maybe the art and map guys could share more screenshots, I don't know really. Maybe they don't want to show us stuff because its not ready yet and could give a wrong image of the game.
I think Triternion has a very good community communication so far, like really good. I feel they are very open with the game development, they do answer what people ask and I never saw any suspicious thing, pointing towards they running away with the money, and I follow this project since its Slasher (the very prototype of this game) days back on reddit. I really trust them, specially seeing from where they started, the Slash Project and mercs mod for Chivalry, and how it developed into Mordhau. The progress they made is real man, I have strong reasons to believe that money is not the biggest motivation behind this project, but a true passion for this new emerging kind of game.
I understand your concerns tho, we live in dark times on the game industry where everywhere we look there is a cunt trying to steal our hard earned money with products not worth it, lies and propaganda. But as I stated, I have very good reasons to give my trust to these devs.
Anyways, its just my opinion man, and I understand your concerns. You could check out the devs profile, you will see all their posts. They talk a lot with the community here on this forum, that might easy your concerns a bit, there is that Discord thing as well that idk what even is, but seems like devs are there talking to people. Also the way this community supports this project should be a very good clue of how trust worthy they are imho
Think about it, they made good money at the kickstarter and every day there is new people joining this forum or hearing about the game somewhere and getting hyped, they can make even more money when the game lauches. It would be quite a stupid move to run away with the kickstarter money, because if money is their biggest motivation, then delivering a solid game is the best choice, look at Chivalry: MW if you want a example of this, they didn't even made all that much money at kickstarter, but at steam they made way more. There seems to be a good demand for this kind of game and the logical step profit wise, as I see it, would be delivering the product.
