Now, if you get killed by a more skillful player, you don't have anything to be salty about. You might even learn a thing or two that'll help you to git gud some day.

Yeah, in a perfect world that would be the case. It would be similar a case if this game were to enjoy a healthy community with a more positive attitude towards all sorts of veterans and newbies.

However, you seem to have forgotten this game will not be played by gentlemen but rather by teenagers and aggressive autists who are regulars on 4chan's subreddit, to name a distinctive characteristic of their online personas. And historically, Chiv's community has been more prone to embrace the bantz rather than sportsmanship, sadly. In this day and age, where NA > EU / EU > NA seems to be a primary source of disputes in online communities, I don't have such high hopes for Mordhau.

Considering it will be an online experience with different ping ranges the game won't be 100% consistent no matter how polished its mechanics are, at least not from the player's perspective. It's always the case no matter what multiplayer game or developer it may be and I'm willing to bet this will be the case for Mordhau as well.

But the biggest issue is that this will be a competitive game. Nobody likes losing in such an environment, not even to a more skilled adversary. More so if they perceive their opponent's skill to be similar to their own, unless this game truly has a very high skill ceiling. Sore losers will always be there, more so when whenever they mess up, their heads gets crushed. They will be salty no matter what and blame their teammates, the terrain, gambling by their opponents, ping, etc.

I don't disagree with what you're saying here. I just believe that the levels of salt and toxicity will be lower in Mordhau.

In chivalry it was the game itself that was toxic. The players lost their respect for the game and TB. After all, it was abandoned by its own devs who left it with so many problems. Some people still play it (including me until recently), but you can feel that a lot of people are angry there. I think that all these are reflected on the general attitude of the community.

With a big portion of chiv's playerbase being transferred here, I see a lot of people bringing over the same attitude. I hope that it will gradually tone down.

Again, I don't think that things will be perfect, just better.

People that don't play the game and haven't played Chivalry are already complaining in comment sections of Youtube about the FoV being 'weird'. I do agree that the current FoV limit feels restricting, but we will have to live with that to avoid people getting scared off by awful FoV levels.

That's true.
I've also seen comments under Shroud's streams on youtube about the FoV being too high. Even with the current max it looks weird to them.
It is important for the game to look good to those people (and to us).
The way Torn Banner handled FoV is irrelevant.

Also, sometimes they do some giveaways on discord, but they are rare.

If someone approaches you selling a key, be sure to do some research on him. There are some scammers around.

Jump-kick is fun and I'd like it to stay, even though I don't use it so much. It is also quite costly in stam but...

Even without the stun it is quite abusable when used alongside a quick weapon like a rapier or qs. Cswic and MadDILLAiny know what I'm talking about.
If you parry the initial jump-kick you are flinched and cannot parry the subsequent stab that again will flinch you. Rinse and repeat until the opponent is dead. Also dodging a jump-kick is hard while wearing heavy armor.
Of course you can take measure to not get kicked in the first place, but losing the fight because of failing to counter a single kick feels wrong to me.
If it stays in the game it needs some tweaking and I don't think removing the stun is enough.

I can't :( Not until this releases, it's like a curse. As shitty as Chiv is, it's the best thing out atm.

Same here.
I play a lot of chiv lately. The hype for Mordhau is stronger than ever and chiv is the closest thing you can find.
I have nearly 1000 hours and I'm still having fun even though it's broken and frustrating af.

Look, I'm right there with you guys - I'm completely fucking over Chivalry and I want something to play super badly; I haven't played a single game for more than a handful of hours since about January, but the devs aren't the type of people to half-ass anything. They're going to release the alpha when it's ready, and they're going to work their asses off to get it shipped by the end of August. If they can't make that deadline, it's not because they don't have a good game to play, but because they're perfectionists, and they want to blow all of us away with the content.

The devs are betting their futures and careers on this game; I know for a fact that Elwebbaro and Crushed quit their jobs, and I'd assume Marox did too, among others - if this game doesn't succeed like we all want it to, they won't be able to develop the game full time. I'm confident it will do well, but I can absolutely understand that they want to get every little detail right before they let people play, and so if there's a delay, it's not out of laziness or incompetence, but out of a passion and dedication to making Mordhau the best game it could possibly be.

The alpha is closed, sure, but Kickstarter backers and the ones who backed through the web shop aren't the only ones who'll be able to play, and more importantly, won't be the only people who see or hear about Mordhau. Big streamers, youtubers, and the press are going to hop into a server, and these first impressions are critical; a handful of influential people will convince thousands of potential players on whether to buy the game or not, whether Mordhau and Triternion are just 'another bunch of indie devs with an alpha game', or that Mordhau could be the best title of 2017/2018. It's super important they make the right first impression.

I couldn't have said it better. Jax nailed it once again tbh

FANTASTIC!!!!

So, we now know when! End of August, as we suspected.

I really like the approach they are taking, about adding things gradually to the game.
It will help us ease into the game focusing on one thing at a time.
Also, no archers?! Enjoy it while it lasts boys!

The new content is awesome as always!

I think it's for the best that the new titles are shop-exclusive. This way it will be obvious to anyone, who backed Mordhau on kickstarter and who bought it from the shop.
I think Marox handled this effectively and elegantly.

I am confident, but Im just cautious. Remember CLANG? all everyone got was a prototype that didnt have very fun gameplay.

Come on now, you're not a new guy here. If you were following closely to this point, you should know by now that it's going to be awesome. The gameplay footage leaves no doubt and the team's perfectionism is visible in every little aspect. They're set to deliver the best game they can and they are mindful of the community. What else do you need?

Prepaid card. The easiest way.

Pommel throw is an emote they are adding, as a joke. It won't be actually useful.
I think two modes are enough for each weapon. It's easier to balance and each weapon is more unique.
Also there is another thread about this subject.
