Its a fat fucking L to me and anyone that wants to see this game succeed

This game has the greatest potential be something absolutely amazing but its being ruined.
The game has so many flaws that just get worse and worse by the week, so many broken mechanics, limited amount of viable weapons, unfair spawn balance on maps and the toxicity of the game.

We need to stop lying to ourselfs about the state of the game, its not ok, its in a horrible condition and needs desperate fixing. A balanced game doesn't go from 60,000 peak players to 40,000 in a month, then to 17,000 the next, then 9,000 and 5,000 today as of August 15.

Something has to be done for this game to succeed, not just new maps and cosmetics to make my self look more like a 11 year old edge lord that made his first OC on deviant art like oh wow cool but the balancing is still shit. The meta needs fixing, I hate having to use the same 5 weapons over and over again because they're so good. I want to use other weapons without being immediately put at a disadvantage because im not using the halberd. The meta that Mordhau is in right now ruins the creativity of the game, its boring.

Theres a reason why 83% of the player base quit, its because the games losing its fun, its not fun to immediately get fucked by a edge lord using a maul and becoming a baby rage once you kill them, its not fun to be forced onto the blue team on crossroads, its not fun to just swing aimlessly with the war axe and get free kills because that shit gets boring theres not challenge, its not fun to take this game seriously.

The only way I can have fun anymore on this game is if I make Ironic loadouts that I just goof around with and do really dumb and shitty tatics with. I want to be able to actually try and know that I died because of my skill and that I messed up, that I can do better next time and learn from my mistakes. That just doesn't happen.

I love the fuck out of this game dude but unless Triternion gets their shit together or hire new devs (which is really fucking un-likely at a business standpoint) i dont expect it to survive the winter, Once the new update drops people will come back by default but if the update is a disappointment, that being the maps are broken in someway, they dont fix alot but the loud problems, (EX: Horses, Firebombs and Buckler in the last Dev Blog) the player base might rise to about 15k minimum and its going to dwindle even lower than 5,000.

Only gods knows if this might be the last update and Triternion walks away with tens of millions of dollars in their pockets and calls it a day

We'll just have to wait and see :(

and god do I wish the dev team was 15 people, 5 extra people to get shit done would be literally like 200% faster.

Aside from the disappointment FL has been there's also massive flaws in the combat itself.

In chivalry I had a whole playstyle revolving around only side hits/waterfalls and I didn't have to feint/delay drag or reverse; felt fun and took pride in not having to rape animations. But in Mordhau there's not really reliable side hits or satisfying waterfalls; only timing deceptions. You get hits either because someone didn't press their parry force field in time or because they pressed it too soon. This is not fun to me. Even shields have an absurdly massive parry size and they're not even fun for the shield users.

EVERYONE has the same playstyle in Mordhau. Better players know more tricks and read better but everyone is using mostly the same tactics... Only differences between players are which weapon's animations you choose to rape/cheese and whether you matrix/dodge alot and, prolly the most definitive difference between melee players of equal skill: whether you face hug or play range.

It's also not like Mordhau really cleaned up the cheese from Chivalry. SoW and Norse sword are still in Mordhau by different names. Messer is pretty obnoxious. Reverses were removed but attacks were sped up and sometimes I physically cannot press the parry or chamber button in time due to reaction and ping. Never had such issues in Chivalry at the same ping.

Don't even get me started on firebombs, rapier/shields in FL or cleaver bloodlust knights.

Also, I never NEVER felt like I was at a disadvantage for using a controller in Chivalry. I point out huge flaws in gamepads in Mordhau on countless threads only get made fun of on the forums for not being a keyboard nerd and to hear only silence from the devs on controller improvement.

It takes three. Whole. Seconds. To turn 360 degrees with max sensitivity on my controller in Mordhau. And I have been asking for AT THE VERY LEAST a sensitivity boost for controllers since 2017. Twenty. Seventeen.

I'm very disappointed in Mordhau and wish I hadn't spent so much money on an alpha key. Or wasting so many hours of my life playing the alpha.

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON SHIELDS.

Yeah honestly in Mordhau players should feel like they died because they messed up, that they can do better next time.

Not have to gamble because of the enemy they're fighting is doing overhead maul accels and dragging every swing into oblivion.

exactly, i thought the same about this - when devs dont care about player loss, specially this very very huge play loss, they seems dont give a fck about the game/community itself - my opinion.

I was still putting 15 hours a week into Chiv when Mordhau dropped, and it "only" had 1k peak players at the time. I'm glad Mordhau sold well enough to support long term dev goals. Ranked and SDK appeal to long term players like kick starter backers, indie devs, and the competitive community.

I don't understand the rush to save the playerbase when it clearly was not the devs' intention to cater to the swarm of casual players who tried and didn't like Mordhau. Degrading the devs of a game you enjoy is not supportive or even respectful. It's unrealistic to expect Triternion to transform their development team overnight to quell the whims of impatient gaslighters. Y'all need to stop acting so entitled and accept that the devs are only human, not money-powered patch dispensers.

People on these forums are very passionate about this, many coming from chiv and other previous games in the genre.

Its something that has alot of potential to be one of the greatest games of all time, but it simply doesnt have the manpower to do so.

I wouldn't call it a dead game. That just makes you sound like a narcissist who thinks the world evolves around you. Just because you quit playing doesn't mean everyone else did.

Well the thing about rust is being worked on with about a team of 25 that all have very lengthy experience in game development, with triternion here we have a 10 man team with 5 fucking artists maybe 2 coders, 1 level designer, 1 UI designer, 1 Community Manager and 1 Project Lead. Also a webmaster and admin for the forums that being "is actually seymour" and Neo.

Plus people are saying the games dead not because they stopped playing, they sure as hell are still playing it if they didn't quit but literally the game lost 83% of its playerbase in 4 fucking months dude. Thats fucking huge decline if you look at it statistically.

Rust is actually cared for by experience Developers that give out weekly updates on whats new and whats to come, they even have a fully fledged roadmap and live commits page that shows what the devs are working and implementing in real time.
People keep playing the game because it has great communication with its community.
Not having to make a blog post saying whats wrong with the game and hows its dying to have a Dev to tell us more info on the update.

Info that could've easily gone in this Dev Blog but for some ungodly reason its hidden in a Forum post because only god knows why.

It seems like the people who defended the game now are starting to lose hope for this game, its really depressing but theres nothing we could really do about it.

I love this game but you guys know that unless the devs get things together its not going to survive to 2020.

Honestly, one of my favorite settings in anything is 100% 1920s Fictional Exaggerations, or SteamPunk for short. Theres this weird sensation of seeing 1920s versions of modern stuff.

I've always followed any game that has a Steampunk feel to it, but just recently it has rose up again because I just got done reading Airborn by Kenneth Oppel.
To sum up its settings it's essentially the idea of what if planes where never fully devolved and airships reign ruled over the skies, this of course never happened and is impossible to today's modern findings and physics. There is no element good enough to carry TONS of weight and actually be used.

This book is quite fantasy more than Historical Fiction, The oceans all have been renamed. All ending with -itcus to make it sound Latin (Pacficus, Alanticus and so on). The author has made a new element to explain the rise of blimps (Literally and Figuratively) Its called Hydrium. (Hydrogen + Helium).
This element has a weird Mango scent to it and has extreme lifting potential, so Airships were fully developed for Cargo, Transport and even Piracy. Also as a fun fact it references Leonardo Da Vinci's Ornithopter, which is more of a propelled flapping plane in the book.

The story of it is phenomenal, goes in depth on visuals and overall is OUTSTANDING
I totally recommend you give it a look

Alright book aside, I truly wish there was more Steampunk and 1920s Airship era games and movies.
A lot of you probably heard of Guns Of Icarus. It was a good game but never really satisfy everyone thirst for a Airship game.
Game did well and it died out not too long.

This same treatment goes on with alot of games like this, Worlds Adrift, "AIR" by the makers of PUBG, Airmen (wow theres alot of AIR in titles huh?) and a few more.
Its really sad but its also a very Niche setting like Mordhau.

So how do you guys think of Steampunk?

Im personally thinking about quiting for a bit, the game is just really boring and bland now.

I bought this game because I wanted what I wanted from chiv, to be on a medieval battlefield and working together as a team to overthrow the opposing team. The clashing of swords, yelling and the sound of a really really fucking good push.

With mordhau you dont really get that anymore, maybe on launch but now its really bad.
Frontline has basically become a pile of edgelords that cant fight a 1v1 but sure as hell can double team, everyone just uses the same few weapons, like tell me as much as you like there isnt a hard meta but I swear to god the best weapons is literally any polearm (including the zweih, that shits basically a polearm), waraxe and any weapon where you're able to stab spam. not to mention every things on fire, horses just instant kill you and your teammate just catapulted half the fucking team.
OH and also usally teammates now are all really blood thirsty so any duel youre doing a teammate comes in, gets in the way (probably using the war axe or zweih), eats the hell out of your swing, and you instantly die because it was a maul.

Its un-fun for me and cant imagine whats it like for a newer player.

Duels are cool but only fun with friends because you find even more weird edgy roleplayers that fantasize as their OC that just gambles with the messer.

Not really much you can do with the game anymore really.
