agree with most of that.

horses are unrealistic atm.

horses don't jump on command, they only jump over things, sometimes...

horses should buck, pigroot, shy and rear up when told to run into walls or along narrow planks and unstable terrain or when they get smacked in the neck from the riders zwiehander lol

their legs are frail so any damage to legs should result in the above problems or even the horse falling down and not moving or atleast moving way slowly.

riders should fall off during some of the above circumstances

riders should need to be skillfull horse riders

I agree, I have more fun in the less chaotic, team damage heavy frontline matches with "chivalry" style 24 player servers or half empty frontline servers.

perhaps save the 64 player servers for a different game mode that simulates a battle unit?

like maybe its 32 v 32 spearmen or spears vs axemen or something to simulate a unit on unit engagement from a medieval battle

so smaller map, fast respawns and just trying to get 32 ppl to work together to not just TK each other and wipe out the other team. being in formations, etc would be cool. no dudes throwing fire pots and axes or javelins from behind though ok?

what about 50 spear men vs 14 horses hehehe

now i am dreaming... craving these mod tools ;)

naked rodents are free kills to me and my thirsty zwiehander

front line is a cluster fuck of random deaths and stupid other sht

but no one else in my region plays TDM or skirmish or anything but frontline.

I am not getting bored of it. I enjoy the mindless slaughter. even if I get slaughtered a lot.
If my team is getting stomped, I try and break off and find some enemies that aren't in big groups.

You can't take frontline too seriously.
the objectives are pointless... even when you capture a point so you can spawn on it... you don't really spawn on it, you aren't that far from the original spawn point anyway.

this isn't chivalry where doing an objective was kinda fun and got you to the next section of the map that was almost like playing on an entirely new map.

it's a satisfying weapon for sure.
I still struggle to land those headshots consistently so I tip my hat to those that do so well morphing and feinting and dancing around!

when i use the maul and things are going my way and im getting lots of head pops I am all like!

seriously just copy/paste chivalry maps already.

the fact that you have spawns open to enemies
the fact that when your team secures a point so you click on it to spawn and it spawns you closer to the previous point is just silly.

i love spawn killing as much as the next murderous griefing psychopath but spawns need to be hidden from the enemy coz it kills immersion

sure it's cost me a fair few kills and caused a few deaths.

I am just glad that it's not a problem with my mouse that I only bought a couple months ago.

hope the devs fix it in the next patch or update.

I play the same in 1st as i do 3rd but for some reason i prefer 3rd so i can easier duck swings and see people coming from the sides... downside is people stabbing from directly infront of you, are blocked by.... you... so you can't see when to parry.

i guess with everything in chivalry its a balance of pros and cons

Here are a few simple suggestions from a big fan of the game.

Please keep the score board up after a match ends
at the moment, i enjoy killing people after the match ends but then i don't get to see how great my score is or who else got a great score so that I know who to look out for or beat next map.
maybe both the score board and the gold and xp bars can be up at the same time.
my friends and I don't care about gold an xp but we do care about the score board.

on the topic of the score board theres no way to scroll down on 64 player maps and the like?
there is a scroll bar but it doesn't work?

Can we add the ability to bring up the score or change character on the spawn select screen?
maybe you can hit escape to go back but i haven't tried.

Can we que up our spawn? i hate waiting that 7 seconds or so to spawn, i am clicking like a mad man.
please let me click, spawn as soon as available
othertimes i enjoy watching the carnage and forget to spawn...

I had other ideas but forgot them, ill post them later.

problem with people feinting or morphing? easy... just keep swinging... you'll hit them first, force them to parry, then feint them when they are on the back foot.

I am sure the world was crying for the gods to nerf the mongol armies but the millions of people they killed didn't have forums to rage on i suppose

Good points.
Progression:
I personally don't care about progression and unlocks in games... they have been done to death.
This game is a breathe of fresh air, where the combat is the focus. We don't need little rewards for playing and things to unlock to give us a reason to play. We are playing because killing and being killed is a fun experience.

Having said that, I like your idea. Having more skins and other cosmetic only things to unlock is fine by me if the devs have the time. When mod tools are available, maybe players can create the millions of different skins and models to add to the game and unlock at certain ranks.

Combat and matchmaking:
I see what your saying but I feel that battles against only other high ranking enemies takes away some of the fun and atmosphere of the game.
Sure, with a ranking and matchmaking system, you might retain more players who struggle with the steep learning curve.
I think a lot of the fun of the game comes from the large skill gap.
One of my favorite aspects of the game is it makes you feel like you are in a movie.
I watch a movie like Highlander and there is a battle scene where the main character cuts down foe after foe with a single swing, he then spots his nemesis over in the distance doing the same thing.
he cuts his way through and over to his nemesis where they engage in a long duel, all the while cutting down people who try to stab them in the back while they are engaged. Basically, I won't to keep cutting down noobs and fighting veterans in the same matches. makes it for a more immersive battleground.

But again, having said all that. Maybe have open servers and restricted servers to certain rank and level ranges so that people who want to, they can chose what lvl range or bracket to fight in. I don't really want to split the player base up but i think the game is fun enough that it has many players that I know will play for many years to come.

Maps:
I agree with your points here too.
64 player servers are a bit of a shit fest but that's what it's charm is.
I am sure real battles with hundreds of soldiers in a choke point would be much the same. it's a unique game mode and if i feel like its too much team killing swing spamming nonsense, i go play the lower player count frontline or TDM mode.
I do miss the chivalry style team objective maps but they would also suffer from such large player counts.

some bigger maps with more objectives would help this like you said but hopefully performance doesn't get lost with it.
perhaps like you mentioned, an almost old school battlefield 1942 style maps with stables or seige workshops etc that people can capture to get an edge, rather then just funneling into the one objective.
or simply make it so you don't have to capture 1 point to unlock another like you have to now.

basically i agree with your points but wanted to add my 2c
TLDR
I don't care about progression, don't think it is needed or belongs in this game but your idea is OK with me.
I don't care if people find the game too hard and get discouraged by getting owned by elite players.
Join a 64 player front line and go stab some people in the back, you will have fun anyway.
