I am starting to notice the superior sound design the more i watch the blogs. In particular that when a body hits the ground from a fall now it actually makes a heavy thud sound aha. Even the death cries already sound great in some instances. The cues for chambers are satisfying and sound natural. I think sometimes sound goes unappreciated in a lot of games being hidden behind the soundtrack.

I really cannot get into new builds when players just turn up and accelerate at your feet the whole fight and it's a gamble whether you can parry anything because you're trying to chamber attacks that can't be and in general trying to play normal while they spaz out and try and break the tracers. Delay dragging is fine but jesus the speeds on weapons vary so wildly it's impossible to tell at a glance whether something can interrupt your current action. Like starting a kick and then they have time to start an lmb and drag it into you before your kick lands, what's the god damn point of counter kicking if a fricking eveningstar can just beat it anyway.

Yeah but this is a stepping stone process, one problem at a time m8. Facehugging Accel playstyle is cancer and this patch helped to encourage people to stop it, though some of them are still bloody trying.

This patch feels significantly worse than the last. Nobody seems to be able to play consistently and are getting caught by simple chambers and ripostes.

EDIT: Not sure if it was due to my connection at the time or the actual patch, will do more testing.

It's very effective at beating even skilled players also, I have a background of almost 3k hours in chivalry and it pissed me off pretty fast so i worry if left unattended it could become abit meta by release and will drive away all the new players much like reverse overheads did. It does not look like fighting nor does it feel good or fair, just being cheesed and your only way to fight back is to cheese as well. I am hoping the new animations they are working on resolve this in some way but i don't think that alone will stop people aiming at the feet and accelerating as a playstyle.

Yeah i agree it's slowly feeling better now. Only really wonky accels and undercuts that are annoying me now. I can also chamber abit more now assuming they don't accelerate it to instant. The movement in general feels so much better now somehow and reminds me of how i felt running around fluently in chiv.

You all need to chill. Animations, timings, damage and almost everything needs work at this point. I cannot blame anyone for pointing out all these issues and yelling git gud doesn't help. You can only say git gud when there is actually an evolved meta after major balancing so it's something decent for people to aspire to.

Right now it's clear drags are in a weird place, feints are in a weird place etc etc. Let the Devs work on one thing at a time and slowly the issues and how to tackle them will appear as there is less to focus on. One must not also assume someone's criticism of mechanics is drawing direct comparisons to chivalry mechanics. As it is still possible for something to feel 'wrong' and be wrong in a different way to Chivalry.

It's to do with the animations. I could block any Accel or drag in chiv after 2.6k hours but something is very off in Mordhau. The drags and accels are worse in some ways. Even timing it while looking at tip of their weapon isn't enough sometimes. I wouldn't feel bad since the Devs know the animations or windups at least have issues. Not a case of get good, unless you aren't able to parry basic attacks that is.

Oh you sweet summer child. It's more playable then chiv ever was at high pings and even at 16 ping there's some things I cannot parry which are probably the same things that get you.

The devs need to acknowledge this as a problem on their end cos essentially you aren't able to play a product you paid for while everyone else can, that's not right.

Yeah reading range to footwork in this game is a pain compared to chiv for some reason, and my fov in chiv was warped as hell. That being said I still have low hours compared to other alpha players.
