I think that idea comes from how the steam page was written.

" Enter a hectic battlefield of up to 64 players as a mercenary in a fictional, but realistic world"

"Believable fights: A game where fights look believable, MORDHAU strikes a balance between gameplay and realism."

Not to count how it was marketed, I remember times where realism was brought up as a thing for Mordhau, not that I can see any more of those at this point.

I mean it is not like it has no issues, should my previous post sound like it is sided with the people who think Mordhau is absolutely without flaw. I recall many moments were random lag and just general hitboxes had been genuinely terrible, not just in the past but in the present, not to count that I agree that the community is absurd but that's another topic for another time.

Only in duels does the lag seem to cease, whereas in any other game mode with remotely more players than 20 it will sometimes be depending on the time and your luck be quite sad and not only unresponsive but also inconsistent. Most of the time it just works okay, nothing too much to point out. Here is an example: Sometimes my maul would miss the head of the enemies and still blow their skulls to pieces, but sometimes I would hit someone, with good ping on my side and the player that I was attacking, and it would not register. Sometimes my arming sword stab would hit someone even though my sword was nowhere near their torso. Albeit this happening right now is fewer to count in comparison with the release month, it happens to me nonetheless. It is not like my rig cannot handle Mordhau, I consistently get 70 fps as well. Now I understand the counter-argument against my point that the game can be quite inconsistent being: maybe you were just unlucky, I haven't had any of those problems!" Which may be true but it is still important enough to point out the issues, no matter how small or big, enough that the game can be improved. I am against mindless hate, but I am not against constructive criticism and a nontoxic discussion. Should you have a less friendly view towards that like: if they don't like it, then they can fuck off" then you have kind of given up, because unfortunately, the player base is kind of 'fucking off' already and I always do want this game to improve so I can come back and play the shit out of it for the years to come, although I had quit for its mechanics and meta, that may change for better or worse... And yet my hope will never die unless the devs just give up entirely.

I understand the views of both sides here but personally, I think some people had a different idea of what Mordhau was going to be. Myself included, I have been hooked on the game's development and I had been hyped for 4 years straight, if not more. When I got the game, I enjoyed it. I was always great at the game from the get-go, never really trained myself to get better either and I only got better when I played it more. However, if I check my library now, Mordhau is uninstalled right now. Like me and thousands of others, we were not expecting the game to turn out like this. Is it a bad game? It is not tbh, It does a lot of things right and for certain people, it is perfectly fine and just needs tweaking on certain areas, and I respectfully agree with them in their pov but It was not the game I expected when I was hooked on it for so long. A lot of things just turned me off about the game and many aspects of it were different than I had seen from videos and from what I had read. This is entirely my fault for having such expectations and not the game's fault whatsoever.

For that reason, I believe the reason why so many people have left from the course of months, is not only because its a new game and in most new games the player count is obviously going to be high in the release and then gradually dwindle and get less and so on, but also because a lot of the new player base enjoyed it too but were just not attached to it or were disappointed by what they were given. I also know too many people who left just because the Community was not for them, saying how they had been in bad gaming communities before but Mordhau's topped all of them off by how severely terrible it was. And others wanted to play the game seriously and the mechanics did not rub to them as well as they had hoped. Personally I did not like the gameplay and the meta and it is more of an opinion than a criticism. I hope this gives another perspective of why the player base might be 'dying'. :D

Either way, I really do think that this feature should be added. It would essentially make it so much more fun to play with friends.

When I gathered all of my friends in a party, I was hoping that ingame there would be some icon or something above my friends' heads so we could find one another if we are in the same party, just like in Chivalry when your steam friends used to get on the same server. However, that doesn't exist. Is there any particular reason why? I and my friends constantly try to find each other but it's just such a hassle so we rather just go alone and for us, the party part is kind of just useless other than getting to the same server which you can already kind of do via steam.

I have been playing for so long and most of the time I got no exp or gold. At this point, I am lagging behind people because they seem to suffer from the bug but not as frequently as me. I am wondering, how will this compensation go? Will I get all my gold and exp? or will everyone get an even compensation?

It's a known bug, still getting worked on. Sometimes it works and it is fixed and sometimes it reverts back to not working again.

I recorded this video where I was in a noobish way swinging wildly with the 3rd person and ended up getting quite a lot of kills. This game is phenomenal, I just can't wait for my progress to be fixed so I can unlock stuff!

Thank you so much, I have waited for this game for 3 years (more if you count that older engine, the pit map. I still kind of remember!)

I really hope the compensation is something worth it! I have been playing since I bought it today and have been on the leaderboard for a long time (not that I know if that has anything to do with exp gain or gold gain) and I am stuck at 0 gold without buying anything and unable to gain anything like the rest of the people who are suffering from this issue :I

Thank you for your response, I have searched it before I made this post but I have just noticed that I have skipped a few threads instead of looking deep enough. Apologise and thanks for the quick reply.

Will there be round shields added in the future? Center-Gripped round shields are interesting. I have not seen them in any game done well when it comes to the models and such and that is very disappointing. It could be right in between a Targe Shield and a Kite Shield, a balance between them. A medium of the shields basically, one can balance them I am sure.

What do you guys think?

Only time i see this as a problem is if the entire server is full of women, but otherwise seeing a few women here and there (like mount and blade) is not immersion breaking. Yes women were extremely rare in the battlefield but they were not non existent. Like previous mentions of Mount and Blade it is a great example of it working, you have the option to choose a female character but after my +6000 hours on that game even though i quit a year ago, i have not yet seen females outnumber males, it is almost always one woman out of hundred men actually. Although their voices are annoying, you can say the same as every OTHER voice in Mount and Blade. "Yeeaaaaargh!" "Aeaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!" "RUUUUUUGH..." "We cen duw dis de ezy wey, or da hard wey" "I will drink from yer skalle!"

The Voice Acting is hilarious, but also horribly bad but that is the charm. In Mordhau, i doubt the voice acting for women will be horrible, but it will be most likely funny. I say let them exist. Honestly i don't see the problem. I agree that seeing too many women in the battlefield could be immersion breaking for a few who do somehow get an immersed in a game where farmers are throwing mallets, stones and fire pots against a knight in plate without armor on his arms and legs, holding a cudgel he picked up and a lute on his back. And i expect people to freak out when female option is put in, as everyone will go females but thats because they are checking out a new feature. It is always how it works, devs add a new feature, players excitedly try it out. I don't expect a whole team of women versus a whole team of men, unless there is a clan of cringy vikang shieldmaidenz anytime soon.

I honestly believe this could go in a competitive way, especially on where you would want to strike and how do you want to strike and why would you want to strike at that moment.. I don't know, maybe it is a small portion that would like it but i personally think it would be a brilliant mod though.

What Gaymer said, on top of the fact that any hypothetical formation would have to actually be effective within the confines of the game, which I highly doubt anything other than sticking together in a loose group will be effective.

Edit: Oh, so you're basically asking what I was stating. Yeah, it's very doubtful that some sort of formation will be effective considering the massive emphasis on individual skill. Why wait in some formation when your best player can wade into a group of 3 people and slaughter them all?

Very true... i wish i could remove this spazz..

That is why, take this topic with a grain of salt, it is quite complicated, my point is. Would there be any bonus in that? Because in real life a formation of men has a better chance to gang the same amount of men that are not in formation, while in Chivalry you can just avoid them by running forever around them or just block all of them at once (which is a seperate thing) and just hit three of them at once and block and get away.

(kind of stupid of me to make a topic of this to be honest, now i think about it.)

Right-side use wasn't always just to shoot quicker, it could be a preference. I don't know, i think they shouldn't put that in as someone said, try shooting fast with a longbow... I think they should do it this way and this way is simpler and easier...

Just turn the bows that do lesser damage such as velocity and the draw weight quicker to draw while the heavier bows that would do more damage take heavier to draw? (and also please don't forget that it would also be more inaccurate, most games nowadays just make the heavier bows draw slower but the accuracy is the exact same, yes if you can draw a longbow and you have done it all your life, you can almost certainly be great in hitting people with it but please keep in mind, if that archer used a composite bow, it would be way easier to aim with that in my opinion, no matter how many times he used the longbow, a composite bow is easier to draw and thus less stress is required and that is why it would give you a longer time to aim and than release, while a Longbow you can't just draw it that long, after awhile it will hurt you and you will have to put it back in place and hold the arrow steady.. that is why nobody went to battle while holding a bow stringed, it would fuck you up)

Historically archers didnt aim the way we think of the word now.

They aimed with the eye, not the arm (and shot with the heart...).

The way they trained to shoot was through the use of instinctive shooting, similar to throwing a ball.

You "aim" before ever drawing the bow by simply looking at your target, then draw and shoot without holding. Enough practice and your hand eye coordination and natural instinct makes this very accurate just like throwing a ball.

For reference,

Ah Thank you, i know this but i was talking in terms of a game, sorry to mix real life into the game, i should have quoted that this isn't true in real life, how stupid of me.

I don't know if this is going to be a thing but a medieval battle wasn't just going around and duelling people, which i know that everyone knows(I hope)

Will there be formations or is it going to stay the same, i have hardly seen a medieval game like this that adds slightest of formations, i am not asking 30+ formations but like 6 to 7 players forming something to beat the odds, even that helps, you don't need an army to form a formation. But than again it is very hard to do that in a game, and that is why i am wondering if it is going to be possible to mix that in.

(this could also pointless question with no wins or gains so just skip this shiz if you dislike the idea)

Alright, ill cut the dankest memes in half..

So what do you mean? is this serious m8?

Well i've got question, do you mean that they should increase the player count? Do you mean that you want bigger battles instead of Chivalry Fixed Warfare of sexyiness? Do you mean that battles should take longer and not 2 seconds as people get one hit by...a Claymore.. through plate... [killme]

Alright, enough, i need to get out of the dank memes section before i am overwhelmed and i turn into one of em.

Please, enough fire arrows, i was happy to see chivalry didn't add it. People see fire-arrows in movies and think it was common, i am sorry but it was as uncommon as a man at arms going into battle with no helmet (that is like jumping off a cliff.. Even PEASANTS used helmets and i am not talking about a straw hat, if they could afford which you can definitely, they would get a helmet at first before body armor, anyway back to the point)

Fire Arrows just aren't as easy to make, first of all you need decent craftsman ship, the way the arrow is shaped place a vital part, or it will just stop burning immediately from the shock and velocity. Than you got the fact that pitch is just not the greatest idea, it may fall and you must shoot quickly and even then it almost always goes out midair, turning it back into a normal arrow but with a wider tip, which means bigger wound but a kind of shitty penetration power.

So Fire Arrows weren't that common, i hope they won't add it, that is like adding fire-pots to man at arms..... (OH WAIT)
