what you actually meant is "immersion mode"

Well I was referring to the hardcore mode from modern warfare that removed the HUD and kill feed

Thanks, but that's where I got my points from and found the complaints people had. I made this post to condense the concerns people had and refute them. I'd rather not leave a reply on some dead thread that will never be read and so I brought my points here instead. 🎵

Please give us proximity voice chat. It would make in-game communication so much easier and the voice commands simply aren't enough to convey any useful information. Proximity voice would allow teams to coordinate their attacks more easily and communicate with each other mid-battle.

  • "But people are going to be just oh so toxic!"
  • "But it would ruin the immersion"
  • "But having to constantly mute some kid blaring a meme airhorn based ear rape cover of an EDM europop chart topper that he thinks is 'dank' would be a minor form of torture."

There can be little mute icons next to player names in the [tab] menu allowing players to quickly mute anyone they don't want to hear. Additionally, admins should be able to mute players. Also, voice chat could just be disabled though options via a volume slider or button. If you want muting someone to be more satisfying, players who are killed should not be able to speak.

  • "But you can just use Discord for voice chat"

You should be able to communicate to strangers and others who aren't in a Discord sever with you.

I miss the feel that Mordhau had during the pre-alpha gameplay videos. It seems like Mordhau is becoming a sort of "medieval Call of Duty," which isn't inherently bad and I'm sure a lot of people like that, but all the prominent HUD elements like damage and point notifications and the ding sounds when landing hits really changed the way the game feels.

With all these notifications, everything seems calculated. As in, you know exactly how much damage you've dealt and exactly how many more hits you'll need to land to kill someone. Archers are able to sit and camp while taking pot shots, hearing dings and watching their damage indicators until they're notified that they've gotten a kill, never having to wonder whether or not they've successfully landed a hit or if they need to move to a new position because their shots aren't landing. If you attack someone and they run away and get killed out of sight, you're notified that you've gotten a kill/assist. You never have to wonder whether you've killed an enemy and there are never any moments of surprise when you discover otherwise. Also, It never feels like you're a medieval soldier in battle, but more like some hack and slash arcade game because these elements ruin the atmosphere.

Now I assume that lots of people probably like the game this way, so I propose that severs be able to enable a sort of "hardcore mode" that would disable the kill feed, damage/kill notifications, hit markers, and hit marker sounds. Together, these changes would make gameplay more interesting and people would play more carefully while also making archers less annoying. Several of you are probably typing "but you can just disable it in the options!" Whether or not you can disable all of these elements within the options, I've already explained how their removal affects gameplay and would put you at a disadvantage. Anyway, I think such an option for servers could allow for better gameplay experiences, and because it would be optional, nobody would complain as it allows people to play the game they want.

There are a lot of visual issues with head gore from blunt weapon damage.

  1. The gore model placed on the neck is red mush with a femur coming out of it.
    Untitled.png

  2. If the blunt weapon only causes a partial dismemberment and the head becomes detached, the lower half of the neck model shows a clean cut while the gore model on the upper half of the severed neck has that weird ham bone in it.
    Untitled 2.png

  3. If the head is destroyed by a blunt weapon, the head vaporizes and a few tiny, red nuggets spawn in its place

This, in my opinion, looks terrible. I'd have rather seen a broken neck and some crushed metal bump map decal on the helmet or some other alternative. If there is no helmet, there should maybe be some crushed head model or some other localized wounds on the head. I'm no game designer so I don't know exactly what's feasible, but I think nearly anything would look better than my magic hammer turning someone's head into chicken nuggets.

the "flesh wound" perk seems a bit ridiculous to me if you can run around without a limb indefinitely without bleeding out. hopefully theres a limit to how long you can survive without a limb.

nvm just read about the 5 seconds

It would be neat if Mordhau had some rare death animations like Battlefield games had their rare reload animation easter eggs. For example, there could be a 1/4000 chance that a player killed will spread their arms and ascend into the sky, or some other funny animations.

NOTE: This was previously posted in its own thread about a month ago. Marox said hindering widescreen monitors is not intentional and should be considered a bug to be fixed to support widescreen monitors so I'm posting here.

Currenly with my 21:9 (2560x1080p) monitor, my FOV is narrower than 16:9 users. This majorly disadvantages us >16:9 users as the window looks incredibly zoomed in. My request is that the game support widescreen monitors by not forcing a zoomed in/cropped window.

Thanks.

I'm running at 3440 x 1440. I haven't tried 16:9 resolutions as my native resolution works fine, but now you're telling me I've been playing at a disadvantage? Is 21:9 zoomed in and cropped like it is in Overwatch? If so, that's absolutely messed up. There's no reason to cripple those of us who like to use ultra wide monitors, it doesn't provide us an unfair advantage.

Yes, it is cropped just like Overwatch does to widescreen displays.

Currenly with my 21:9 (2560x1080p) monitor, my FOV is narrower than 16:9 users. Some people believe that supporting wide aspect ratios would be a major competitive advantage, though I highly disagree. Even if Triternion does share this stance, I would at least like to be able to play fullscreen in standard 1920x1080p without massive scaling and warping of the image to stretch across the screen. Playing in windowed borderless does not solve this issue. I can however play in windowed mode, but when games are run from the windows desktop, the computer must render both the desktop and game window causing a performance hit and additional input latency. Though this limitation imposed on widescreen users may have been designed to put us on a so-called "level playing field" with standard 16:9 users, it actually majorly disadvantages us >16:9 users. My request is that the game either not force a zoomed in/cropped window for widescreen, or at least allow widescreen users to play fullscreen with vertical black bars on the sides that would reduce the display to 16:9 rather than stretching the image across.

Perhaps this solution could be achieved simply by tweaking some configuration files but I've not had any luck in finding the appropriate file(s). If anyone has a solution to this issue or if the developers could consider supporting >16:9 aspect ratios, that would be great. Thanks.

will mordhau support wide aspect ratios and not crop it to fit within a 16:9 box like many games do to prevent a wider field of view?Untitled.png
