Vengeful Acrobat: While on a falling ladder, kill the person who pushed it off the wall with a thrown weapon.
Nothing To Be Ashamed of: Top the scoreboard fighting naked.

What makes Chivalry feel like Chivalry, and M&B like M&B. In my opinion, the most important differences are the presence of timed parries in Chivalry, while M&B relies on held blocks - this essentially changes the entire flow of combat.

Then there's M&B's 4-directional blocking, instead of Chivalry's more, in my opinion, intuitive approach of having to aim at the incoming weapon to block it. This also makes chambering in Mordhau enjoy the same intuitiveness.

Another big difference I noticed is the weight of the weapons. Even though it doesn't necessarily affect the mechanics of the combat system, it does wonders for the feel of clobbering people with your maul. For all the criticisms you can throw at Chivalry, they did weight right. This, in combination with the superb auditory feedback CMW provides, is what got me hooked in the first place. M&B never did preform well in this department, if you ask me.

While Mordhau borrows mechanics - like chambers - from M&B, that do have a huge impact on the combat system as a whole, the feel will definitely be more like Chivalry.

If you matrix or dodge an attack, and start one of your own at the right time, your attack will land before your opponent can CFTP.

It depends on luck (window is too small), happens rarely, and not when the opponent uses a fast weapon. In Chiv at least, maybe in Mordhau it will be different.

I honestly can't remember the last time someone was able to block a successful matrix using CFTP. It probably just comes down to timing.

If you matrix or dodge an attack, and start one of your own at the right time, your attack will land before your opponent can CFTP. In Mordhau we've got first hit flinch, so you don't have to worry about the attack you dodged coming back around and hitting you, either.
Then there's also the fact that attacks are more straightforward in Mordhau than they are in Chivalry - they're generally faster and move in a straighter line. This will (likely, haven't played, obviously) result in dodges/matrixes being more solid of a move.

That lamellar armour is looking more awesome than I would have expected. Amazing work like always.

It feels like we're not lucky enough to actually get it during August :D
Who knows

From what we've seen, the core mechanics are pretty much done (of course there is always room for adjustments). With this in mind, consider that the devs have asked the community if they would be OK with a more bare-bones alpha as opposed to a more polished one. The majority of the people voted for the bare-bones approach - the great majority, if I remember correctly.

Therefore, delay is very unlikely. Unless there's another, more technical issue, I don't think we'll have to wait much longer. But who knows, right? The July update should clear things up.

If it's delayed we'll will be informed in the July update. If they have a set release date - idem.

We'll just have to wait it out.

  1. I'd rather see movement speed increased when there is no weapon equipped at all (including fists). That would look a lot
better than the constant raising of one's fists.

  2. I honestly wouldn't like gore to be limited in this way, but if it would be made an option - I don't see why not.

So, a few months ago I stumbled upon an old thread, where someone called "FlailsWereARealThing" made his first posts. I thought to myself: "where the hell did this guy go?". It was then that I realized you were the same person. The shame prevented me from bringing it up earlier.

Happy birthday, mate. Have some of the likes back that you have been handing out so generously on these forums.

To clash the weapons need to collide. It's not just hitting one another at the same time, it's about actually hitting the opponent's weapon. In every other case First Hit Flinch will take care of it.

So, please don't necro threads unless you really have something new to add. Grator's already commented on this idea as something he likes.

EDIT: I'll leave this thread open for now as a lot of users have joined since it was created and there is still be some discussion to be had. Personally, I think if this idea would make it into Mordhau, it should be unlocked like everything else: spending your earned gold on it. A rank/level minimum requirement is also something I'd like to see for something like this, as it is a strong pull-factor for a lot of people to progress through the game.

Emote combinations. Slasher already had some nice things.

Can we get around blocks by starting a swing and have the damage portion of the blade begin inside the person? My thought being you perform a swing from right to left. Enemy blocks right, but since the blade isn't damaging it doesn't get parried. Your swing continues through the parry until the damage portion starts on the left side of the enemy. Since the enemy is parrying right but your swing is attacking left, the enemy would get hit.

Early release does no damage, like you said, but it can be parried. This means turning your back at someone allows him to punish you pretty hard for it.

The most "negative" feedback I've got when spreading the gospel was that some people feel like Mordhau is just Chivalry without reverses, resulting in a lowered skill-ceiling. Being sceptical is great, but it doesn't seem like they've put a lot of research in it and just have heard people praising the lack of reverses in Mordhau and made a conclusion.

Doesn't matter much, as the alpha is right-around-the-corner™.

Has been suggested before. Crushed answered with: "FOV will be capped at 130, you might be able to mod this in though."
