not giving gold when leaving will just encourage people to setup anti-kick macros

just saying, in-game voice is generally pretty useless for comp when you could use a proper voip client like discord or mumble instead. in-game voip would be very funny though, especially in BR

if by "annoying helicopter 360 degree move" you mean leaning back and hitting someone behind you: no, that is gone.

Feints are almost the only thing you can do.

  1. footwork and attack manipulation are far more integral to gameplay than feinting is - they also don't cost a resource to use. Footwork is what allows you to clutch in situations where someone who relies on feints, morphs, and crutches would be destroyed.

  2. raw feints are absolutely useless against skilled opponents. Feints are a powerful tool when apart of your mixup, but just feinting alone is pointless. If your opponent is so bad that they fall for basic feints with no mixups at all, then you might as well save yourself some stamina and just fake them out with body movement instead.

Morphs are just there so you can avoid getting chambered

  1. you can feint after a morph

  2. morphing doesn't give away your initiative

  3. what the fuck game are you playing where you unironically think morphs are nothing more than an anti-chamber tool

Drags are weak.

so just found out that this game (mordhau) is gonna have dragging... Wow. so i guess you want another broken shit game like chiv? ok... thats fine, because im not going to buy it. you're game is going to be dead on first day because everyone who played chiv will see this and know its broken too... i see 1 drag and the game is dead. did you really think you could just make a copy of chiv and keep broken drags and nobody wound know? im glad i did not go kickstarter and im glad the game is dead because devs are just ripping people off and making another broken game.

Feint - Q
Movement - WASD
Left/Right Undercuts - LMB and RMB on my Gaming Mouse
Left/Right Overheads - Tilting head with Motion Tracker Headset
Left/Right Horizontals - Left and Right Arrows on my DDR Pad
Flip Sides - CTRL†
240 Stab - Joystick on my XBOX 360 Controller, which I flick with my pinkie
Kick - 3rd Party Madcatz Foot Pedal for Guitar Hero World Tour™
Parry - Microphone with Realtek HD Audio "Scream-Activation" Technology 2.0††
Jump - Numpad Minus
Switch to 3rd Person - Unbound

† = I don't actually press CTRL with my hand. I have a program running that gathers atmospheric noise from space and runs it through a random number generator that outputs either 0 or 1, which I then use to randomly hold down or let go of CTRL. This allows my attacks to be completely unpredictable, even moreso than the most skilled Mordhau player.

†† = only activates upon a blood-curdling 95+ dB scream. I actually panic scream in real life everytime I see an incoming attack, so this is essentially like having an automatic panic parry system.

displaying the names of the achievements without the actual requirements to get them makes for a pretty useless list

Female voices may not fit well with the atmosphere of a gritty, historically-inspired, medieval battleground. It's not about realism or immersion, but rather that some people simply do not like to hear the pain-grunts or death-screams of a woman. You could say that some people feel the opposite way, and dislike male screams and grunts, so the only logical option is to allow players to disable either of them.

also high likelihood we're dealing with a duguesclin alt here just sayin

With release being upon us, it is time to remind you how absolutely imperative it is to act kindly and respectfully as a new player. You mmust arm yourself with patience and understanding, because you will lose and get mad - it is the nature of competitive games. You will misunderstand mechanics and say drags are broken or feints are unfair. You must resist any urge to complain about these core features of the game. Be willing to learn from others. Others will briefly attempt to explain the mechanics of the game to you, so try not to be egotistical and obtuse when advice is given to you. Don't whine over it.

If the importance of such etiquette is not understood, you will probably get angry and quit within a month, leaving other new players with less people to play with. One of the largest ways in which a game can be ruined - outside of the developers' adding a deadliest warriors DLC and removing cftp - is by new players being a bunch of toxic morons unwilling to learn. Many games are not bad in themselves, but people will not go out of their way to help you if you start screaming about ballerinas this or drag-queens that. I am sure everyone can think of a few people who act like this.

Whatever you do, do not give anyone a reason to describe you as a cancerous new player. A friendly new player can greatly strengthen the enjoyment of the game, especially when there will be an influx of people who's opinions of the game are still neutral or curious, by being friendly and always be willing to learn the game instead of whining about it. Mordhau is a game you can reliably have fun with for a few hours after a long day, but only if you're willing to get good and not gripe about every little thing you dislike.

100% agree, there's no good reason to have regen in duels or small-scale (3v3 or less) LTS (skirmish).

Another thing about no regeneration in general is fall damage. I think fall damage should be completely replaced by a threshold system: falling from medium heights will cause a ragdoll and no damage, and falling from great heights will just instantly kill you. None of this taking 18 damage bullshit. Even during modes WITH regeneration, taking fall damage feels terrible because you're obligated to walk for awhile until you've regenerated.

The weapon unlock system is really boring and doesn't feel like I'm actually working towards anything big. The unlocks don't feel like a progression, but rather just "whatever here you go I guess". It's also weird that they use the same system as cosmetics, forcing you to choose between customizing your appearance, and trying out a new weapon. I think weapons should use a unique unlock system based on number of kills with certain types of weapons (I actually made a thread about this).

As for the cosmetic unlocks, my only complaint is how the level system works. Of course Gold should be a result of score + time, as it already is, and should be rewarded even against bot modes like horde. Levels however should only be earned from actual player kills (and perhaps doing objectives in Frontline). Gold would be used to purchase the majority of things, and Levels would be only be used to unlock special things like metal colors - similar to chivalry's level 50+ helmet tints. This allows players to quickly get the appearance they want, while people who like to collect everything will have a lot of things to grind.

I just assumed all of the NA servers were cheap / low-quality ones, and that when the game is released we'll have good servers that won't have connection issues. Because aside from ping, I also experience significant packet loss on most of these servers.

I also get bad ping specifically in Mordhau (might be related to temporary low-quality servers during the alpha).

If I do ping-tests to various servers in New York, I get around 56~60ms ping, but the Mordhau official New York server I get 68~72ms with occasional ping spikes of 80+ (especially when there's a lot of people in the server). This seems to be true for private servers too, though I don't know the exact locations so I cannot say for sure, but my pings definitely feel higher in Mordhau than any other game.

Speaking of sound design, the voices could definitely use more variety.

Raider is objectively the best voice: it stands out really well, especially because of the accent. Foppish and Young are also decent for 'weakling/archer/rat/goofy' type characters. There's also Barbarian, which is "so bad it's funny" tier.

Then we have... Commoner, Cruel, Eager, Knight, and Plain which are rather forgettable. I don't dislike these voices, but they are very generic. Generic voices are fine, especially for a game without classes and a very broad character customization, but there should be more unique-sounding voices like Raider.

Originally I imagined Mordhau having a wide variety of accents like german, italian, french, and so on - so it's a bit disappointing to hear a bunch of plain-sounding English voices and then like 1 scottish guy thrown in there.
