100% agree, there's no good reason to have regen in duels or small-scale (3v3 or less) LTS (skirmish).

Another thing about no regeneration in general is fall damage. I think fall damage should be completely replaced by a threshold system: falling from medium heights will cause a ragdoll and no damage, and falling from great heights will just instantly kill you. None of this taking 18 damage bullshit. Even during modes WITH regeneration, taking fall damage feels terrible because you're obligated to walk for awhile until you've regenerated.

The weapon unlock system is really boring and doesn't feel like I'm actually working towards anything big. The unlocks don't feel like a progression, but rather just "whatever here you go I guess". It's also weird that they use the same system as cosmetics, forcing you to choose between customizing your appearance, and trying out a new weapon. I think weapons should use a unique unlock system based on number of kills with certain types of weapons (I actually made a thread about this).

As for the cosmetic unlocks, my only complaint is how the level system works. Of course Gold should be a result of score + time, as it already is, and should be rewarded even against bot modes like horde. Levels however should only be earned from actual player kills (and perhaps doing objectives in Frontline). Gold would be used to purchase the majority of things, and Levels would be only be used to unlock special things like metal colors - similar to chivalry's level 50+ helmet tints. This allows players to quickly get the appearance they want, while people who like to collect everything will have a lot of things to grind.

I just assumed all of the NA servers were cheap / low-quality ones, and that when the game is released we'll have good servers that won't have connection issues. Because aside from ping, I also experience significant packet loss on most of these servers.

I also get bad ping specifically in Mordhau (might be related to temporary low-quality servers during the alpha).

If I do ping-tests to various servers in New York, I get around 56~60ms ping, but the Mordhau official New York server I get 68~72ms with occasional ping spikes of 80+ (especially when there's a lot of people in the server). This seems to be true for private servers too, though I don't know the exact locations so I cannot say for sure, but my pings definitely feel higher in Mordhau than any other game.

Speaking of sound design, the voices could definitely use more variety.

Raider is objectively the best voice: it stands out really well, especially because of the accent. Foppish and Young are also decent for 'weakling/archer/rat/goofy' type characters. There's also Barbarian, which is "so bad it's funny" tier.

Then we have... Commoner, Cruel, Eager, Knight, and Plain which are rather forgettable. I don't dislike these voices, but they are very generic. Generic voices are fine, especially for a game without classes and a very broad character customization, but there should be more unique-sounding voices like Raider.

Originally I imagined Mordhau having a wide variety of accents like german, italian, french, and so on - so it's a bit disappointing to hear a bunch of plain-sounding English voices and then like 1 scottish guy thrown in there.

where is the server gonna be hosted? (West, East, or Central)
or are you gonna have 3 different tournaments, one for each area?

Don't get me wrong: I had a lot of fun with Mordhau's BR, it created situations that I had never seen before, simply because it required people to get crafty in order to win. It's not a bad mode, but it's far from polished, and would rather see this mode get introduced in patch sometime after release rather than pushing it out immediately and trying to pretend like its one of the main modes / selling points of Mordhau.

Wait times will kill this mode. Apex and Fortnight have wait times of around 10 seconds after finding a server with matchmaking. Not only does MordBR have a lobby wait time of 60 seconds, it's also slower to fill a server in the first place because there are going to be way less players than Apex and Fortnight. Mordhau is going to be far more frustrating than a typical shooter BR due to most players being inexperienced with melee slashers, so combined with a long wait time between games it'll be a miserable experience for most noobs.

Random spawns are a half-assed way of doing things. I understand the developers don't have enough time to implement something more creative, but again that's why I think BR should be temporarily removed until they have time to polish it sometime after release. It's possible to get some really ugly spawn positions where your only real option is to run away from the people near you who are going to get weapons first, and you may end up just running into someone else with a weapon instead. The dungeon spawns are especially fucked.

Looting is uninteresting. Pretty much any non-peasant 2h weapon will do just fine, because almost every engagement is going to be a 1 on 1 duel. Although it seems exciting to get a big drop like a Halberd or Zweihander early on, a good dueling weapon like Longsword is genuinely one of the best drops you can get. Armor is uninteresting because once you get it, that's it: it doesn't degrade. Loot distribution is also fucked, even after the second weekend test. Inventory management requires dropping and picking items back up currently.

I think you're over-estimating how competitive the 3 main modes are

New players will use these main modes to learn the game, and some of them will eventually want to get into competitive play. What about the players that use 3rd person primarily, only to eventually learn that 3rd person is utterly shunned by the competitive community as a whole, outright disabled on private servers and/or matchmaking, and probably disallowed in tournaments (player-run or official) too. The general consensus seems to be: "fuck 'em who cares." And I mean, that's fine by me... but I feel like the developers and/or community manager(s) should care.

Crush has said that the newest iteration of 3rd person he's currently working on will be much more fair, but unless 3rd person is so utterly gimped that it's not viable at all, it will still provide significant and unique advantages compared to 1st. And that means competitive players will always look down upon it, argue for its removal, and/or ban it from private servers. Players who come into the game expecting to use 3rd person and play at a competitive level are being set up for failure.

On release, Battle Royale will only do more harm than good by frustrating new players and tarnishing valuable first impressions. Mordhau's Battle Royale is essentially a dueling mode with RNG elements, not a good initial experience for a beginner. Frontline, TDM, and Horde are the modes we want people to be playing on release week.

BR can come later once it has received adequate polish. I see no good reason to include it on launch.
