I don't know what you don't understand about the word "through" but apparently this conversation is pointless

Player X ripostes
Player Y gambles into his riposte

Is that what you mean by spamming through?

You need to get good enough to actually react to their attacks and parry them. If they're spamming through your riposte, then you should accel your riposte as hard as you can, you'll hit them first.

But if they parry your super hard accel, you will get fucked by their riposte.

500 ms should be minimal windup in this game, everything faster is just lazy design.

That's why I said "if they're spamming through your riposte"

They can still ftp and riposte you while you are looking into the ground or who knows where.

"spamming through your riposte"

Did we get a patch which makes it impossible to ftp when gambling against a riposte?

I currently have exactly zero hope anymore for any fixes on any of the issues that have been now known for 8+ weeks

Most of these problems are known since at least mid-2018 tbh.

Fighting the good players in alpha when they used these weapons pretty much boiled down to only being able to do a regular or dragged riposte, absolutely shit gameplay. And this was before Cleaver and Dagger could 3-shot T3 torso lmao.

Cleaver is an epitome of what is wrong with weapons in Mordhau:

  • retarded speed
  • draggable
  • 3 shots T3 torso
  • 4 shots heavy legs (longsword needs 6 hits on heavy legs!!!1)
  • for some reason costs 1 point

How did that even make past the proofreading stage?

These are just fugly.

Modern military ranks at Silver, random Russian eagle at Gold, cartoon sword + generic angry Spartan helmet at Platinum, 80s synthwave at Diamond and Generic Early 00s Rapper Cross Tattoo at Elite.

Make it at least somewhat medieval and less loud and edgy.

Platinum and Diamonds are also very non-medieval tbh. Purple was a royalty thing in middle ages, so at least one of these could be replaced with somethign more grounded in reality.

I would say player numbers are still amazingly high considering how much of a terrible dumpster fire Frontline is lmao

For me it seems like devs really lacked any vision and planning past "recreate Chivalry without the most broken stuff" and maybe "give a ton of historical customization". The first point was only a partial success, as they sabotage their combat with a fuckton of unneccessary and annoying garbage like firebombs, cheese perks and every map being a highway to get trampled by horses. Oh, and shields, lol. Combat is okay, but so what if you can't enjoy it outside of duels?

Uninspired, slightly adjusted Chivalry balance - "eveyone dies in 2 or 3 shots from everything except Maul". Trying to squeeze in cheese that should've died with Chivalry like 3rd person, 1-shot everything Maul or Dodge. Point system feels like half-baked, semi-abandoned idea that practically only comes down to "can't play Halberd/Zwei/Spear/Longbow with 3/3/3". Communication is non existent, as it's always been. Game will keep losing players until hopefully something resembling TO comes.

No.

I haven't played in close to a month, almost all team modes are ruined by fire/horses/shields/trolls and a bunch of other easily avoidable poor decisions, on top of not being very fun to begin with (mostly Frontline), so I have no interest in playing them in such state, as I'm not a masochist.

Duels were kinda alright, but they also have issues and I figured it's not enough for me to keep playing this game.

I'm going to wait and see what these new gamemodes bring to the table.

The devs have no time to work on maps, mechanics, or game modes. They are busy adding in female characters.

They put a ton of man hours into making Cleaver and Dagger 3-shot T3 armor, give them a break.

This much of Chivalry lore was enough tbh:

There is a kingdom
One side is loyal to the king of that kingdom
The other party wants to topple the old system. Malric is in this one.

There was a lot more subtlety to it than that. Through the context of their actions, the armor they wear, their voices and lines, the home maps of each faction. They all built on the lore

Masons were clearly more blue collar. Rough around the edges. More brutal in nature as they are likely more used to a brutal way of life, having lived on the lower rungs of feudal society until the rebellion. Their maps are industrial, darker, usually more makeshift or run-down.

Yes, teams had identity, but I spent good 4 seconds wondering if this part should count as lore, and decided it's not entirely that. But maybe it is.

Anyway, having two distinct teams was good for years of memery on reddit, though it would be hard to transfer to Mordhau because customization and voices are all available for both teams.

It was Team Objective which gave fighting in Chiv a structure. You were fighting to accomplish things, they were kinda-sorta sometimes related to lore, but nobody really cared, because accomplishing these things was fun in itself. You needed to do a thing and to do it you had to beat motherfuckers up along the way. If you weren't beating motherfuckers up hard enough, you lost. Simple. Fun.

You can't even call Frontline a TDM because racking up kills means absolutely nothing if you don't control more points. The mode is just waiting for one of two countdowns to run down and you are free to run around and kill some enemies in huge clusterfucks in the meantime.

Cleaver also does 34/30 damage to T2/T3 legs (Longsword 27 to T2 and 19 to T3).

Welp.

Mordhau has solid combat. Fighting is fun. Fighting is a nice burger with fries.

While I don't find the concept of Frontline fun at all, it wouldn't be as bad as it is if the fighting part wasn't absolutely drowned in side shit. You place this nice burger and fries on our tables and pour industrial-sized drums of cheapest mayo and ketchup on it and say "enjoy".

This "Push" gamemode has promise. It would be too bad if someone made it into an overcrowded 64 player spamfest of ganks and team damage, where every chokepoint means slaloming under fire from mini ballistas built directly fo face it, every place you need to be is constantly on fire from both sides and every round you get 5-10 mandatory "YOU JUST DIED" moments because cata dude is shooting more or less where he expects many people to be and the horse guy is having a blast running in a circle 50 times and cashing in free kills.

You packed more than enough of le random epic gamer moment features into FL. Please, let us enjoy the combat outside of duels.

  1. Punish misses

  2. Footwork/matrix out of range into a stab or something

Which doesn't even work because shield has held FTP (if they realize they are going to whiff) and CFTP (if they already whiffed) or can just continue combo because there is barely any window to get a hit in between 1h attacks.

So you are only punishing their miss by stamina.

Which takes you back to stamina warfare.
