Before I complain to Simrai, I thought perhaps this is software since the server itself doesn't restart. It's immediately visible on the server list with the expected map after getting kicked, despite having 0 players down from any number. This has been noticed periodically since update 2 I believe.

Some things to be known:

  • Server performs otherwise normally with excellent pings
  • This occurs with server tickrate at 60 as well as 120
  • I reinstalled the server and freshly updated it today, modifying only tick rate and removing all maps from rotation except ffa_camp, only to find the problem seemed to be worse with mass kicks occuring every 2-3 rounds

This was recorded in alpha #5. I'll reschedule another spar with my bud on the same server so we can test if the problem persists in #6.

I think it happens when you join the server and the other person is already on it, probably in switched grip.

Might be, actually. I was joining the server after he already was in it, and he mainly switches grip with bastard sword.

What's different from recovering feints the ordinary way contra using the dynamic feint recovery?

I'm certain that morphing his attack would've resulted in him reaching his chamber window, but let's say he already did a swing but from a different angle than mine, he was kind of forced to parry instead of chambering since the feint recovery window animation is currently too slow, right?

Anyway, it happened only once during our spar as a mere, and very far out concidence.. But it still got us thinking, of course. :)

Today, Mr. Rag and I had a small 1v1 sparring and as a mere coincidence, Rag encountered a small concern about feinting when corresponding to chambers.

The following scenario was not recorded but could be reproduced.

So we did a lot of chambering back and forth, and as I feinted him, he read me, I attacked with a swing, and he feinted back so he could chamber, but couldn't reach the window for chamber as the feint window was too long for him to act appropriately to my attack.

So feints, when in correspondence to chambers isn't possible, even when responding correctly seemingly because of a too long feint animation window.
We had about the same amount of ping measures.

If we're able to reproduce this issue I'll update this with a recording.

The currently implemented 240 degree system is pretty simple to follow.

You point in the direction you want your swing and then click, like described in the KS gif;

Let's have a take on your example.

You're facing almost away from your opponent from your left side, then click and quickly drag to the right, facing your opponent again. That would be an 150-160 left-to-right swing with the current system.

As far as I can understand from your suggestion, you'd want a system working the way you move your mouse (of kinds), right?
If you'd want a right-to-left swing by facing away from your opponent from your left side by the current 240 degree system, you drag right and then click, resulting in a accelerated right-to-left swing. That seems logical to me.

Yup, I actually do that too.. Was wondering why I forgot it all the time, but your explanation seems like a very viable theory, I'd say.

Gameplay

This has been posted here before, but I'll still post it with some further elaboration.

  • On TDM there's an odd chance you'll spawn together with everyone else as a naked guy without any weapons after choosing loadout.
    • When you respawn, you spawn with your chosen loadout.
  • When switching map you get "disconnected" from the server (but stay connected)

Gameplay/UI

  • Not sure if intentional, but sticky keys happens when you switch weapons sometimes (eg. pressing 2 multiple times before switching) - this can lead to some minor frustrating moments during gameplay - happens in all gamemodes.
  • Unicode ascii characters displays with a replacement character instead (�).
  • If you rebind camera/perspective change, the bind stops working.

UI

  • Refreshing the server browser takes 10-15 seconds.
