To be expected, really. The casual playerbase has gone away a bit given the lack of new content recently, leaving a smaller, more dedicated playerbase. They'll be back.

I really like your firefighter, very creative class idea and it looks great too! It's a much better way to handle the pyro class concept than the knuckledraggers that go around naked with 3 firepots

Yes, and people have the balls to defend this shitty ass system, obviously some people are breaking too far the game mechanics.

Nobody's breaking the game mechanics lmao, I'm not on your side dude

Just because this guy might be using third person and trying to ground sniff (looked down upon) doesn't mean the game's mechanics are broken. You're both complaining about problems that don't matter or exist

its very sad to see historical medieval game butchered for sake of playing as girl in time were there is no real female fight during that era , what about adding space ship then ? or zombies ? you don't make any sense

You can disable female models.

Stop being sexist, play as a male.

You. Can. Toggle. Female. Models. Off.

@TheMilkman said:
Better have an option to disable it then. Didn't buy BF5 for the reason of them ruining ANY kind of immersion adding Females. I DO mind females being in games where they don't fit the theme what so ever. You want to add females to a modern day shooter? Go ahead. Add it to a game they don't belong is just stupid.

YOU CAN TOGGLE 'EM

@TheMilkman said:
So we can add aliens and stuff into the game? It's not a historical sim after all

FUCKIN' TOGGLE 'EM

when you're done adding females and naggers, can you add orcs and hobbits?? its not suppose to be historically accurate after all, oh and i really want some oversized square weeb swords too, and the ability to teleport behind someone and go "nothing personal shinderu"
oh and i want a flamethrower too, and orbital strikes.
and undead aliens.
and ... you see how the fucking slippery slope ruins everything yet?

What ever happened to the days where we were all 12 on xbox live and nobody cared when we called each other bad words

People grew up and realized that being a dick isn't funny anymore. Well, at least the majority of us did. People like you are the type that will end up in prison getting ass-fucked by a 6'5" dude named Butch.

Sure, part of growing up is learning to be more mature in your word choice, but the other part is learning not to fly off the handle when something you don't like happens, which is the part you're failing at in making this thread and in your response here

Agreed. In the future. Not now. Now you still don't have anything but three lines of text.
So, again: I'd wait and see if the devs take some steps in that direction. Would even be interested into that kind of thing, too, as I used to write for games in my past. But some crude half-assed lines sucked out of one's fingers to describe something that isn't really existent in the game? Nah. That's lame.

Yeah dude, that's what this thread is for

We want the devs to incorporate lore into the game gradually and do it well, and we're asking them to take note of player interest in more lore in the future. Not asking them to snap their fingers and shoehorn a story into the next build.

I have to partially agree with you, Deadmode. There are games where lore is not necessary. In sandboxes like Minecraft or Rust, the story is what you make of it. And yes, some of the best old arena shooters didn't have a lick of a story to them. I don't believe that Mordhau is that kind of game, however. There's plenty of little moments and artifacts in the game that seem to indicate that there's more lore out there that we haven't seen yet.

OP, not every game needs lore behind it. You don’t need some role play motivation to enjoy a game like this. It wouldn’t matter the answer for any of those questions you raised and none would affect the gameplay if different answers given. The questions you posted are not important players are thoroughly enjoying the game without any lore whatsoever.

It literally is about killing the enemy, and that’s it. Sure, some games had some story, but it isn’t necessary in every case.

I also wonder why you ‘expected’ lore to be in the game? I saw no mention of it in any promotional material anywhere.

You'd rather there be no lore?

  • What set this war into motion?
    • How long has the war been allowed to persist? Are people tired of fighting? Has the war just begun, and is it backed by the bloodlust of the soldiery?
  • Who are the major stakeholders? Which side is better funded/justified/better liked?
    • One of the voice lines is "For the king!" but what king?
  • What separates the Iron Company and the Free Guard? (I had to quickly Google the names just now, in case you were wondering about how unique and distinguishable the two factions in the game are)
    • What is the chain of command in the Free Guard like? Who currently commands it? What is the group culture like? What are some of their goals, their defining values? What is their current objective?
      • What is the chain of command in the Iron Company like? Who currently commands it? What is the group culture like? What are some of their goals, their defining values? What is their current objective?
  • What is the significance of the castle in Grad and what does the Iron Company stand to gain from taking it/the Free Guard stand to lose from being routed from it?
  • What connection do the two factions have to the factions/stakeholders that hired them?

These are important questions and as of now, they're sitting unanswered. There's not much substance to the game besides me red man smoosh blue man, get head feather. That's all fine and dandy, I just expected more background to my murder. It's the kind of stuff that immortalizes a game in the grand scheme of things. How many years later are we still talking about the characters and jokes from TF2? It would be a fun game without the personalities, but with them it became truly timeless.

"Please, if you are a leftist, don't feel obliged to be politically correct. Don't be afraid to think. One great version of not thinking is how immediately if they (pc leftists) don't agree with you, you are labeled a fascist. But that's laziness. People find something they don't agree with and instead of thinking, they think about something we all agree was a bad thing - Whop! You are a fascist and so on"

  • Slavoj Žižek

The irony here is that people on your side of the debate have fallen victim to the very thing this quote is cautioning the politically correct crowd for. He says that disagreement will immediately get you slapped with the fascist moniker without any thought required. Yet, in this thread people are immediately being labeled SJWs for saying that it's alright for women to be in the game. Someone accused fucking Lazy of being a "progressive" earlier and he's a right wing ancap libertarian lmfao

There is no irony here in my opinion as any "side" of a debate by default consists of lazy thinkers or rather non-thinkers who have set their identity based on ideology and feel that identity, i.e. their constructed false sense of self is threatened and thus feel attacked whenever in a debate with anything that opposes their ideology.

I hope by my "side" you referred me being of opinion that I think a careless input of choice of allowing female characters could be easily immersion breaking as obviously it is not a historical simulation, there is still a wide zone between Medieval setting with loose historic accuracy (could be called fiction) and then all out fantasy. Someone earlier compared Mordhau to Wolfenstein, which in my opion makes a gross error between differentiating the two, or rather not differentiating the two.

And if by my "side" you refer I was right wing, then you'd be completely wrong.

I am all for female characters if the implementation consists of carefully measuring what it means for immersion.
For that upon implementation I'd like there to be really good voice actors and possibility to turn females off in at least Frontline.
And once again, this is for immersion reasons alone because the game is set in Medieval battlefields, features a range of historically accurate weapons and armor even if from different periods etc. just for the reasons of variety which is a MUCH smaller stretch to make than having 50% of the battlefield consist of women, which takes the setting much further towards fantasy genre.

I think people of "your side" should not have such a hard time understanding the above if they actually think about it.
Sure there are trolls and those who interpret others unfairly on any side of any argument, always.
That does not automatically mean though, that everybody on that other side can be characterized by their lowest denominator, which is pretty much the point of Žižek.

Again, if Mordhau was made a fantasy game rather than historic fiction, I would like there to be non-human races etc. too.
And no, in my opinion Horde mode is not a big part of the game, the real game atm. for me is Frontline and dueling.

Immersion matters to me and I hope that these differences will be solved eventually intelligently for both parties.

I'm always a fan of realism and simulation and I can only hope more will be introduced later via modding.
Those who like more arcady / casual gameplay imo these days have plenty more options on the menu anyway and will most likely get whatever they want.
