Have you got any estimate on when that might come? Based on Crush's recent statements about the progress we're expecting the patch to come in the next 8 days or maybe couple weeks. (90% done in last 90 days = 9 more days) so I imagine it's pretty soon.

The current alt modes already feel redundant in most cases.

That's why delaying another year, starting a new kickstarter, and making it so you can switch modes mid-combo is such a fucking great idea!

Alpha Testing.... Alpha Testing? Patch 16. Still Alpha Testing patch 16. There is nothing more to Alpha test here. Patch 16 is Testing my Alpha male patience.

badass and insane drags are what motivated me to keep playing Chivalry. Full control over my weapon's swing is something I'd been looking for without even knowing it. Having to make do with Zelda, Dark Souls, Smash Bros for my melee combat fix was all I had before, but Chivalry definitely changed the game for me. Chambers nor feints add anything to the mechanics level of satisfaction, and merely acts as a means of "increasing the skill ceiling", to a point where the best players will be equal in skill at reading and executing them anyway, so end-game they just get in the way of the meat of the game.

Someone tell me the point of them outside of helping "fights look more like fights". I think the game would be more fun if they make "fights should feel like fights" a higher priority than "fights should look like fights". Make it fun. Why is this so hard for you guys to the point where it has been left festering in an unfun state for like 3 months?

It's a concern that seems to me only frightens pubbers. Comp players are confident that they will farm any player regardless of their perspective and tbh people should adopt this mindset. Most of the players wanting 3rd person are Witcher/Dark Souls players who will get absolutely harvested by anyone already posting here, having more players in the game should be encouraged.

"0.000001th of the playerbase that are comp players will have no problem dealing with pubbers using a broken thing X or Y" is literally the worst argument ever, try to apply it to every other problem and let's see how playable the game is going to be. I'm pretty sure 0.0000001th of Chivalry players were good enough to not be bothered that much by noobs trying to trade like retards, but nonetheless, the game for remaining 0.9999999th of people did end up a trade shitfest. You let one thing sli[p because of "100 gud players will manage" here, another thing there and you end up with another Chivalry.

Attacks read different enough between 1st and 3rd that it is a concern. Everyone in the game now is biased toward 1st person, but what if the new wave of people find 3rd easier and we end up with game being 50/50 instead of vitrually all 1st with a lone 3rd person dude here or there? Does that sound any good for muh competitive skillbased gaem?

Dude, you just don't understand, because unlike Stouty, you haven't yet gotten gud. Git gud before you say anything about Mordhau, or Stouty will be there, with his skill, to remind you how you aren't gud enough to get it.

Chiv 3rd person allowed for almost MOBA tier vision around your character which was great for dominating pubs, this isn't available in Mordhau. If you spend your whole day stomping pubs you can get a better k/d than a player who is more talented than you because pub stomping relies on learning noob mindsets and avoiding your own team tking you etc rather than being a better player.

It's a concern that seems to me only frightens pubbers. Comp players are confident that they will farm any player regardless of their perspective and tbh people should adopt this mindset. Also frontline is a pub match. Trying to be ultra competitive in a pub match will always end badly because your team won't share your enthusiasm 90% of the time and you can't properly balance teams that large so why even get embroiled over this

let's direct our attention to the real enemy, stand alone morphs

it literally comes down to: do you want people to be able to camp around all corners? Has literally nothing to do with "the best players don't care cause they are so skill an you just don't understand cause you aren't so skill." which is what you seem to boil everything down to, to the point where I question whether you are always just meming.

What exactly is so problematic currently that would warrant adding more early release? Early release is already an artificial mechanic that, if done poorly (i.e, making the window too large), can make the game feel clunky.

I see what he is saying about lack of disadvantage using long weapons in facehug range. It makes more sense for them to be used at a distance, realistically. But the issue with that is I barely feel the advantage to using longer weapons aside from that, so I would rather try to improve long weapons advantages/utility at the proper distances, rather than making more disadvantages...

I want to see facehugging dealt with in general. But a solution that only hurts longer weapons isn't what I want to see.

This is all speaking within the context of duels, which I am not sure if they are even balancing anything around anymore.

Putting a weapon in the "Tertiary" slot should result in the weapon being on 3, regardless of whether there is a weapon in the "Secondary" slot.

I like having my shield on 3 for consistency, but it goes to secondary when that slot is empty. Not a huge issue and I doubt most even notice this. Just a suggestion.

I wish for quite a few things regarding the game. I think my biggest wish however was that i found whatever motivated me to post the other night a long time ago. Everything i said about the forums and such remains true obvs but now that ive just said fuck it ill try to communicate with people who are as/moreso interested in the game as i am its kinda all i wanna talk about. Real life friends arent too interesres in games or medieval stuff in general and my two dudes that went in on the alpha three pack w me arent feeling any of it until theres more content. They humor me here and there but overall i kinda just keep to myself about it.

But yea more 1/2 hand options would be sweet.

The big problems I see standing in the way of this game becoming the masterpiece it has the potential to be is time/money. Yet there are a lot of us who are as passionate about the project as the developers themselves, and would be willing to pitch in more money if it would give them the ability to improve the FUNdamentals of the game. Maybe another kickstarter would help.

It is balanced. Third person fucking sucks. All good players use 1st.

The ONLY thing it is good for is looking around corners but EVEN THAT 1st person is better for because you can see thru walls if you lean forward close to them. Which won't/can't be fixed for technical/performance reasons.

Better situational awareness? Ya, try the blind spot literally in front of you. Less control and awareness of swings is significantly worse for you.

Third is balanced, using it is a disadvantage, what good is being able to see more opponents if you're fucked and won't be as effective in dealing with them if you were in first. Also if you're flanked from all sides you're fucked period. Being aware of being fucked doesn't change much. And you can't see that much further in the first place.

Third person complaints are much ado about nothing. Maybe you thought you were sneaking behind someone and they instantly turned around and parried because they actually have some semblance of situational awareness? Like you can hear footsteps and to a certain extent it's honestly just instinct. You can't see behind you in third anyway.

I was accused of third scumming all the time in chivalry just for having basic flick instincts and a good pair of headphones. You could tell the type of people who third scummed in chivalry. They looked down, jittered everywhere, and had almost perfect distance management regardless of where they were looking. That is not possible in mordhau. Doing that would get you slaughtered third person or no. Third person is balanced in mordhau while it wasn't in chivalry.

3rd 100% of the time is not going to be an op meta. But 1st 100% of the time isn't as good as a mix between 1st and 3rd, situationally. The best players will use 3rd to their advantage when they can, which is pretty often. I don't want the meta to be 1st 74% of the time and 3rd 24% of the time with 2% of the time spend floating back and forth in and out of my skull. I just want to be in 1 perspective and know it is fine there. muh immersion, muh reliasm, muh gameplay, muh balance. Vs pandering to 3rdies.

3rd person fov should be reduced more imo. Taken in closer to the player. So I don't constantly feel the need to switch to it to get a much better view of my surroundings.

Or removed.

https://mordhau.com/faq/#will-there-be-third-person-camera

"There will be a "balanced" third person camera, and we will be testing it in the alpha to see if it works out."

What happened to this? I thought we would be testing it and seeing balance changes over time. But so far it has been the exact same since day 1 and it isn't 'balanced". Maybe if you actually did make it "balanced" you could even include it in competitive who knows. Edam hasn't even played the game tbh

The issue is that you guys are talking about 3P potentially providing a miniscule advantage in certain situations, meanwhile the main mode will allow complete noobs to get octo-kills against melee vets with a catapult by simply clicking lmb. If you want ultra-balanced and competitive play in Mordhau, you'll be able to go play ranked modes where 3P will most likely be disabled.

There is still obviously an element of skill to the game in any mode, even Frontline, but FL is already so chaotic with 64p, vehicles etc. that it's never going to be perfectly balanced, so we're focusing on making it fun. Casual players won't care about a tiny 3P advantage if it even exists, because they're going to be busy dropping rocks on each other's heads.

Frontline - fun
Ranked - competitive

Nah the reason I don't want it is because I feel the need to use it in situations when I know it will gain me an advantage that I don't even want. Constantly switching back and forth between 1st and 3rd is just going to be an unnecessary part of the gameplay. Knowing I am stuck in first person adds to immersion, as well as balance.

Literally every idea offered is met with "no cause balance" then when first and third come up for debate it is all "who cares about balance". How convenient.

Maybe read the thread

I understand the problem and i hate 3rd corners coming from arma i can tell you how bad it is, but removing completely is unreasonable it should be an option like every other game.

For custom servers everything should be an option. But official servers, nah.

That doesn't make sense, they should make official servers with 3rd person and ones without why should official servers be first person only?

Because contrary to what you believe, not every game has third person, and not every game should have third person.
