Now I know unlike swords, blunt weapons can't go through multiple foes with a single strike, but they already do heavy damage to compensate. Adding extra effects will only increase the gap imo.

all the best blunt weapons are 2htk, same as the best bladed weapons for the most part, and no hitstop still makes the bladed weapons better in most situations tho

i dont see why they even added hitstop to blunt weapons in the first place tbh, loved clobbering groups of goobers with the polehammer in chiv

yeah so tired of playing nothing but feitoria, was the same way when crossroads was released. not fun

guy with big slow weapon stab feints me (was a halberd in this case but it happens often with the zwei a lot too)
read his feint and try to punish with an accel strike, i'm using the hha
even though i didn't fall for the feint he winds up a swing during my release, hits me first even though i started my attack first and is in release

this happens so often and it triggers the fuck out of me

why bother not using a meta 2htk weapon. i like trying to challenge myself by using weapons that aren't very good (warhammer, hha, falchion, etc) and it seriously feel like 3/4ths of my deaths would be avoided if I just had a zwei or halberd

Far better than crossroads, but like every new map release, everyone ONLY wants to play it so I'm already sick of it. Mountain Peak is still my favorite

add all the gamemodes to the quickplay menu so people actually know about/play them

and make them 24man so individual skill matters more and it's not just 30 orangutans swinging zweis around on both teams

whats funny is the buckler has been around since the 1300s soooo it still medieval

it's still a puny civilized nobleman duelist shield

I've been playing a spearchucker grug build lately, as an alternative to the typical greatclub grug.

Naked caveman with the dyed linen hosen to make it look like he's just wearing a team colored speedo
Bloodlust, huntsman
Short spear
2x javelins (or rocks, not bc they're good but bc it's funny as fuck to yeet a bunch of rocks at people in full plate and watch them stand in disbelief as they're pelted with 15 damage over and over)

It's so fun. You're fast, run around, support teammates by stabbing filthy urbanites in the head, 4 javelins is incredibly obnoxious, bonus points if you roleplay like a caveman (only speak in grunts if you chat, sneak around near back lines, hunt their cavalry like hippos and throw spears at them, sneak behind their archers and harvest their chocolates, etc)
I went 43-3 using this on a game of Grad last night. Had about 28 kills before I became King but I inspired someone on the enemy team to steal my build too.

Support builds in general are a lot more fun than just being a metalord zwei/halberdcuck.

Arming sword/medkit/crossbow is also really fun, I got over 10k points and 840 gold using this before on a game of crossroads pre-patchie. I forget the armor and perks but I believe it was 1/1/1 or 1/2/1 for fashion, I know I had huntsman for sure but you can fill out the rest yourself.

Engineer builds are really fun too, making pillboxes and outscoring the metaplebs with your meme builds is very satisfying. I have a ton of clips that I need to compile into a video one of these days.

Another one I really enjoy, more of a pure offensive build but very fun and effective

2/2/1, spangenhelm, chainmail, your choice of pants, fur boots
axe/targe, bloodlust, wrecker, throwing axes or rocks

barbarian or raider voiceline is mandatory ofc

the axe is a very unassuming weapon, it's FAST and hits hard. the mobility of the light armor and high damage and speed from the axe is pretty potent, i honestly prefer it in 1vxs compared to some bigger weapons just because the target switch ripostes are so fast and hard hitting

you can also go naked (0/0/1, skirt and bracers) with the same weapons and take some good perks if you're confident with your footwork, bloodlush + rush + wrecker together is scary if you have enough noobs to keep healing off of

heavy handaxe
Great for dabbing on people with the completely out of line slowness. It fucks me up when I run into it after not seeing it for a while, but in general the weapon is trash due to only being draggable, its accels are all but worthless in conjunction with the low reach.

mallets
Not actual weapons so whatever, but yes I agree the fact you need them and they take up a slot alongside your toolbox, and since they're too short to realistically ever defend yourself with, the slot baggage is frustrating. If Smith gave you a fourth slot just for the hammer that'd be amazing, actually.

ballista
A meme weapon that I hate. It should just be a mini ballista, why is it a machine gun?

firebombs
Overpowered. I'd love to take a smoke bomb to deal with them, except, oh, I can't, I only have three slots.

low armor
It's fine, it's just handled poorly. I think toolbox should certainly be 8 points but I honestly wish we could have 7 structures down. Cavalry can easily get through 6 spikes/walls on 90% of "chokes" in the game.

Good points. You need like 3 engineers just to not be spawncamped as blue on crossroads, it's ridiculous. The only maps where I feel like I can effectively block off chokes are mountain peak, contraband, and tourney, lol.

Especially agreed on the firebombs, I don't think they're OP but I think they way they're currently implemented is stupid. Why can a 2 point item that any ape can equip counter something that takes so long to set up with an 8 point weapon?

If I could actually repair my ballista through the fire I wouldn't mind but right now it's obnoxious.

time to take off the training wheels

Been playing a full time engie loadout due to being bored of meta weapons and I'd consider myself an above average player at least, certainly not amazing but I think good enough to give decent feedback. I top scored most of the time but I still had to work significantly harder to do the same amount of work as if I were to just go 2/3/0 halberd and get twice the points with half the effort.

I was running 1/2/0, Axe, Mallet, and the Toolbox. Perks were Smith and Fireproof. I also experimented with going unarmored and adding a medic bag for extra team support but the squishiness with the range of a one hander wasn't viable in team fights at all.

My thoughts, wall of text inc:

=Heavy Handaxe=

While I figure this weapon was meant to fulfill the "combat engineer" role, I feel like it fails pretty badly in both regards. Sure, it's decent at cutting down noobs but you can also do that with literally any weapon. Against competent players, especially ones with good weapons, you're at a severe disadvantage. The only thing I like about this weapon is that it frees up another slot so I don't need to bring a mallet, but even then, I could just pick one up off the ground.

The slowness of the swings make it pretty bad for repairing or building structures, and the axe side is so slow that you'll get literally danced around by meta men with their halberds and bastard swords.

I gave it up and instead opted for an arming sword/axe and a mallet. The former are both vastly superior dueling weapons and allow me to defend my "nest" against flankers and hold my own in small teamfights.

The mallet swings much faster and is also yeetable which makes it objectively better. The extra reach the handaxe has over the mallet is nice for building though, I will admit.

I feel like it does an awkwardly high amount of damage for the point cost and the fact that it's a slow one handed weapon. I think the alt mode should swing faster as to serve as an actual viable replacement for a mallet, and not do ridiculous damage. I'm not sure how we could change the axe side without making it better than the plain axe though.

Maybe make it like the dane axe in Chivalry? Slow, l o n g, but not super damaging? A bladed version of the current warhammer, I suppose. No h2tk on t3 though, that's dumb.

=Toolbox=

I have a few gripes with this thing, the main is the point cost. Two objectively great weapons, the bardiche and eveningstar share the same point cost. This thing is a tertiary weapon, many, if not most would consider it a meme weapon, not even close to the level of the bardiche, eveningstar, and certainly not "better" than the greatsword, battle axe, bastard sword, etc.

I think it should cost maybe 5 or 6 points, for two reasons. When you have the toolbox, you're essentially forced into a support role, 8 points leaves very little in the way for armor/perks. Smith, fireproof, and some kind of sidearm and mallet are essentially mandatory which leaves you maybe 2-3 points left over for armor. Not only is this a fashion disaster, but you're just gonna get splattered by everything and everyone.

I'd like to be able to pick up an additional bit of armor or a better weapon to help in the battle some more, or the option to throw on a medkit so I can provide a safe, protected place for my teammates to retreat to and heal up, or even a bear trap to keep flankers away, idk.

That's another thing I don't like about the handaxe, it sucks so I'm forced to take up 2 slots (arming sword and mallet) instead of 1 so I couldn't even add another support item if I wanted to.

I think you should also spawn with 6/6 ammo, ballistas are easy to counter, and from what I can tell aren't even repairable(?) The turncap means you're very vulnerable to flankers, and one memelord with a 3x firebomb build can brainlessly destroy minutes worth of work just by running in and suiciding on your buildings every life. This also means fireproof is pretty much mandatory (you can't repair your ballista tho even if you're standing in the fire hitting it so enjoy running back to that ammo box over and over because of the guy going 0-22 with his firebomb build :^)

=Misc=
Make smith perk users spawn with a mallet in a free slot if they have one, and if not have it spawn at their feet when they spawn.

The obligatory "give me assists for people killing or damaging with my ballista, or my walls stalling people for a significant amount of time" part. I had a game on Mountain Peak last night where I was singlehandedly holding off the right side of red's first spawn while sitting in fire and repairing my walls whiilst 3 people on the other side were trying to break them down and my whole team was struggling with a team fight on the left/mid side. I'm not sure how they'd detect you "holding off" people, maybe give you points for every x amount of your buildings you heal within a certain time frame that ramps up so the game knows you're actively holding people off and not just repairing shit after a battle.

Idk, not a huge deal but I'd still like to get assists from people using my ballista while I'm busy or dead. I like building one for my archers/support classes to use while they hang out near the back of our lines and then join the melee myself.

Anyways, I think that covers most of my concerns, what do you guys think? I'd like to hear your thoughts and suggestions as well. Maybe I'm a bit biased because I loved playing gunslinger engie in TF2 but I love support classes, especially ones with unconventional playstyles.

Can we have a tickbox that allows us to separate graphical options by gamemode? I get a steady 144 fps on max settings in duels/tdm/BR but in gamemodes with a lot of action and players my fps is very inconsistent and I get anywhere from 90 to 40 depending on where I'm looking and it's pretty annoying to have to switch my graphics all the way down every time I wanna play Frontline.

But I still get fucked by people with daggers, short swords, cleavers, and all those weapons with short bursts of damage. I can't manage to parry them, and even ripostes seem to slow and hti later than their second hit. I tend to get raped by those.

How do you guys defend against those? I mostly play Zweihander and Billhook.

I'd also like the ability to turn off underhand swings on ripostes. It's super annoying when you're facing slightly downwards (like on tourney where the entire map is sloped inwards) and your left to right slashes get turned into underhands. That's my only problem with 240.
