Ok, first of all, this game is amazing and the success well deserved. Congrats to Triternion!

After playing a lot of Frontline, here are some of my thoughts on what to look into / improve:

  1. Too many instant deaths. Catapult, Ballista, Horse, Beartrap, etc. I don't think it is fun for anybody to just instantly die out of nowhere with zero possibility of doing something against it. definition of anti-fun in video games. Each individual weapon might be balanced, constant instant death however are simply not fun. Most annoying are the instant deaths on camp due to random AI-catapults (just says RIP in the killfeed). Remove those please.

  2. When you leave combat zone, the 4 seconds you get are not enough. Double it.

  3. Add something to make people pay more attention to team damage. The amount of damage I take from friendly archers and noobs LMBing into the fight is insane. The "Friendly" perk is a must have right now imo. I'd like to see something that makes people actually pay attention though maybe a message of reaching 50 dmg and a 10min ban after getting to 100 dmg? Numbers war whatever, just an idea.

  4. I think some maps are very imbalanced in favor of certain colors. It seems the red team has a massive advantage on Taiga for example. They often cap the first point when blue team is only at 50%. Snowballs from there.

  5. obvious shield complain. 1v1 it is okay, but 2v1 with one shield user against you.. I feel like there is almost no chance to win it.

  6. obvious archer complain. When the kickstarter launched the devs said archers were supposed to be less powerful than they were in Chiv. They feel exactly the same. Aiming a bow isn't that hard either. Give me an anti-archer perk please. Or make heavy armor actually effective against them.

I stopped playing the alpha a few weeks ago. This is why:

  1. I don't like getting owned by all the competetive chiv players. I had 250h in chiv, but I can't keep up with those guys who
    have like 1-3k hours.

  2. I want to play TO, not just 1v1 or deathmatch.

  3. combat still needs a good amount of work.

  4. I don't want to burn out on a game before it is released. I'd rather wait and use the alpha to check out how the game is
    moving forward

I decreased the settings and my fps went from 60-80 to 100-110 and with it most of the screen tearing was gone. will try the fullscreen option tonight.

If MM is not added during Beta, at least add Veteran Servers. Maybe even during Alpha. One or two for each region would be enough I think.

Today I checked the steam profiles of the top 5 on the deathmatch server I was playing on, all of them had 1-3k hours in chiv. It is just not fun when you are trying to learn the mechanics and you get stomped all the time. I am sure hundreds of less experienced players feel the same way right now. Would be great if everyone could enjoy the alpha and beta equally.

After playing pretty much all weekend here are my (updated) obversations:

  • the 240° system seems somewhat inconsistent, there have been some ideas on how to improve it, I think the devs should experiment a bit with those

  • low to high attacks (underhand attacks or what you call them) are too fast/good

  • the amount you can accel some attacks is insane and maybe a bit too fast

  • the amount of dragging with crounching and other body movement seems a bit excessive with some weapons. dragging should be in the game, but in slightly less obnoxious way. ruins all immersion too.

  • running in circles spamming lmb with zweihänder/greatsword is too effective. I think the stamina cost on some of the big weapons, especially when you are wearing heavy armor should be much higher > less spam, more accurate attacks

  • I hope onehanded weapons will soon have a purpose other than being throwables.

I played chiv for like 250h. I didn't stand a chance against the highlevel players in that game. Right now the Alpha feels even worse than chiv for me, cause I there are almost no players who are not super experienced.

I can tell you if this game gets released in 2018 it will be 1000-times worse for people who are new to this type of game. Half of the mechanics in this game are so unnatural and feel so weird, people will complain about the same stuff they did in chiv which are crazy op exploit attacks (drags, accels, etc.). Just take a loot at the comments of GIRUs video where he explains drags and stuff in chiv.

If Mordhau does not manage to find a way to tone down the absurd movement (body and footwork) during swings, this game will share the same fate as chiv. a few competetive players will tell everyone those mechanics are good and healthy, but aside from them not many people will play the game in the long run.

Is there a way to get rid of screen tearing without using Vsync? I want to avoid it cause of input lag.

A few suggestions:

  1. Increase walking and sprinting speed.

  2. movement and animations could be a bit smoother and less clunky.

  3. overhead attacks seem inconsistent. somehow, hard to describe.
