Hey there,

usually at this point they are gone. The moment you fire up the game and realizing the loss of the loadouts the file in question has already been overwritten.

Better to back it up regularly, this has happened to a bunch of people by now.

Loadouts file:
%LocalAppData%\Mordhau\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\Game.ini

The number of unlocked equipment is saved server-side (unlike to the loadouts). That's why it won't disappear (unless there is an issue with the database connection)

Loadouts file:
%LocalAppData%\Mordhau\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\Game.ini

Perhaps a moderator should pin a note about that or the devs implement a backup solution to rewind back to a loadouts snapshot of the previous game session.

Have you turned the PC off too fast before Steam was able to shut down correctly? Only reason I could guess is something with Steam Cloud went wrong when the game was quitted and Steam didn't make it to synchronize the save data in time and pulled a broken or trying to access a non-existing file.

If something went wrong, you may check if there are files left in the local cloud folder for Mordhau which is something like
%PROGRAMFILES(X86)%\Steam\userdata\12345678\629760 (last folder must be 629760)

If there's nothing inside apart of remotecache.vdf, you most likely have to remake all mercenaries.

To be safe in future, back up Game.ini, located in
%LocalAppData%\Mordhau\Saved\Config\WindowsClient

Edit: If you play Mordhau at only 1 PC anyway, you may even want to disable Steam Cloud in the Steam settings for this particular game to exclude any potential issue from that side altogether.

Perhaps your personal Mordhau config has screwed up? Steam doesn't reset or deletes that one on its own.

You can find it here
%LocalAppData%\Mordhau
Wipe that folder off entirely or move it somewhere else like the desktop.

Then verify your Mordhau files by Steam to retrieve all missing data.

If you have any custom mercenaries that you'd like to keep, they are to be found in
%LocalAppData%\Mordhau\Saved\Config\WindowsClient\Game.ini.

As already said, well done! Had faith in this project the first time I heard about it and gladly confirmed that belief with a backer contribution right after. So satisfying to see it has proven right eventually and that the game is even heading mainstream with all the attention on Twitch and YouTube and the current Steam charts.

After 1300 hours of Chivalry madness, on to 1300 hours Mordhau (and more)!

Looking forward to the upcoming maps and further development. You have got a great start to build upon this.

Now some more enhancements needed for the server browser:

When you press one of the server tabs (Internet, Recent, LAN) it triggers the server lookup to start from scratch no matter if there is already one pending. Now someone not so patient will press it again and again resulting in an endless search loop with no servers appearing and thinking it's broken (and posting another rage and refund complain in the forums).

Also, let the search settings be memorized next time. (I have to check all boxes and set ping to 100 each time)

In the server browser, can you add an animated circle icon whilst searching for servers, which is commonly used for a pending status? Currently it's only a blank window as long as the list is being built and you don't know whether it's doing anything behind the scenes or not. Makes people tend to reload the server list before it has finished.

BR:
I find it sometimes very difficult to locate a single chest while others were already running with gear and proper weapons. Combined with the small size of the map compared to the supposed player scope it makes an unpleasant and short experience each time when you are in bad luck.

Give at least daggers at spawn time so you can defend yourself to a certain extent until you can upgrade. Besides, fist fight feels awkward anyway.

Edit:
By the way, I dislike the idea with the chests (I even wasn't aware they are interactable at the first rounds because you can't open them with E and there's no visual indicator). When I heard about BR in Mordhau I imagined items spread out everywhere, like leaning swords at a wall and collectible stuff lying around in the yard and cabins or open fields etc. and you could decide if it was worth the run to risk an encounter with someone else.

Using siege weapons is treated like being AFK and thus leading to an idle kick.

Used siege weapon is also being kicked from the game.

You don't get capturing points while mounted.

The time window for the scoreboard after the game is very short. (make it possible to toggle between scoreboard and next map voting screen?)

Please update the ranged weapons to have a distinct crosshair independent of the global option in the settings otherwise they're unusable.

Would be convenient to set a preferred view for any mounted vehicle/siege weapon. (e.g. having 3rd person view for catapult)

Nice to see there's a German localization now, although it has some typical flaws committed even by native speakers. But well, I can live with that I guess.

For completeness, the like most useful command ever:

  • m.ShowCrosshair 0
to disable crosshair. Needs to be typed again after game relaunch.

There are several more to lookup, prefixed with "m.",
like

  • m.FOV <integer>

Cancelling using feint / Q would be the most harmless way to quit emotes mid-way.

Second that.

Works fine. Something's wrong with your settings.
