I thought I explained earlier but essentially after incessent teamkilling and trolling I had massive frame drops and lag which I have never had before. He texts "Still there? :)" indicating he had done something quite fuckey. Then the software froze, eventually crashed, and I filled out a report. If it wasn't a DDOS then it was some other malicious action on his part.

You didn't explain it earlier, hence the confusion.

  • The fact that your game client crashed doesn't necessarily mean he caused it. Shit happens, there are still one or two bugs in Mordhau, and networks occasionally fail (particularly at my house). Even if he did cause the problem, for which there is no evidence, there's no reason to jump to the conclusion that he used a DDOS attack.
  • Sure, he behaved badly. The "color blind" comment was particularly stupid; red-blue color blindness isn't a thing, and total color blindness is rare. Obviously you can't prove he was griefing if your game client crashes; next time, report him in the usual way and good luck.

Fair enough. Just in case I've done security upgrades. Are there any console commands I should know besides playerlist?

Points have been made. Triternion can do whatever they want with the forums and game. However the questions of what they "should" do are up for debate. I don't care how toxic the chat is because I can mute it entirely or just mute people I don't want to deal with. Not much needs to be enforced there. Other forms of toxicity IE cheating, griefing, ilegal acts like DDOS or other malicious cyber attacks should absolutely be moderated. You can disagree but you won't change my mind much if at all.

Wait.. were you team killing and trolling? Or was this other guy?

I don’t mean to badger you for minor details but this seems kind of important. Not saying that DDOSing a griefer is justified, but...

They were. And they claimed they were colorblind and we informed them of how to change the settings to mark teammates and he of course trolled by saying "I don't see it" I tell him hit H on keyboard "I can't. I don't have it". Bull shit I say. Proceed to be continuously run down by his trolling bitch ass using a horse and spear even though we were the same team.

Banning users for griefing, teamkilling, exploits, DDOS, and other malicious actions is not censorship. Banning for speech is.

Banning someone for violating the rules of this private forum is entirely within the rights of the people who own the forum. And they've made certain speech against the rules. Which of those two facts do you dispute?

First I was only referring to the game itself which is publicly available and people spend their hard earned cash on it. As for the forums I argue that first ammendment standards should apply as it is a public forum. The only speech ever worthy of banning is criminal threats, incitement to violence, and admissions of crimes. Those are not part of the first ammendment.

Why do people continuously start blabbering about politics and other nonsense when we are still talking about nothing but spoiled brats raging around in a computergame?

Delusion is a really widespread disease...

Because the ones that want censorship are mostly lefties. They are pushing their political agenda into gaming. Can't ignore it, or it will end up like overwatch where you get banned for things you say and do OUTSIDE of the game.

Banning users for griefing, teamkilling, exploits, DDOS, and other malicious actions is not censorship. Banning for speech is. I don't think any reasonable person wants to ban people for speech as mute functions exist. Yes the mute function could be better implemented IE being able to do it from the scoreboard/player list but at least it is a tool we can use.

You should be saying that to yourself in a mirror.

Are you even old enough to play this game

My age is non of your concern but I'd wager I am older than you. You have contributed nothing. You only come here and call me a cunt. That is the kind of thing a cunt would do. If you have nothing useful to say then shove it.

That's pretty rough man. Getting mad at the devs won't solve anything but still. Pretty brutal. Hopefully the turbo-virgin behind it doesn't send a bunch of pizzas to your house.

I'm pretty pissed. Cyber attacks are a crime but unfortunately I am unable to get info necessary to report to the police. This kind of shit is just unacceptable.

That is literally their user name. What the fuck are you devs even doing to prevent this kind of shit? I shouldn't have to fucking constantly subscribe and use a VPN. Where are your security measures? Where is your moderation? Do you even give a FUCK about the quality of your community?

It really bothers me that you keep calling the recurve bow a reflex bow. A recurve bow has the classic 3 shape and is smaller than traditional longbows. They were heavily used on horseback especially by the Scythians and Mongolians.

I do think bows aren't as balanced as they could be. I seem to be getting oneshot somewhat inconsistently while wearing T2 helmets but I suspect that in most cases it is the result of the huntsman perk when I'm using the crossbow. However sometimes I have killed or been killed in one shot by a crossbow vs T2 helmets without the huntsman perk being in effect (IE target does not have quiver/quarrel).

You can mute from chat now as well, but yeah why the scoreboard doesn't function properly is anyone's guess

Thanks. I recently found that out but I would never have thought to try. The general standard for games is being able to go through player options from the scoreboard. Its intuitive and extremely common. Why they didn't implement it I can only assume is from their inexperience.

Game chat isn't the problem. You can mute all chat if you want. You can mute individual players but I would say the current implementation of muting players is subpar and unintuitive. I would prefer we be able to mute players from the scoreboard. The real "toxicity" problem is bull shit like people teamkillinging because they didn't get the balista fast enough or being a useless fuck with a lute or skateboard pavise and doing nothing to contribute to the actual match. You could attempt a votekick but most people don't pay enough attention. They should add team damage and team kill stats to show when votekicking a player.

Right now to mute we have to highlight a player in our view and hit k. For votekick we have to go to console and type in playerlist, then type votekick and the player number from the player list.

It would be much better to simply let us bring up the player menu (IE the scoreboard) and allow us to use our mouse to higlight a player name and right click so we can select the options to mute/votekick. Right now when I hit tab and move my mouse my cursor does not appear and I cannot even scroll down to see the rest of the scoreboard. Its good that we have the tools but the current implimentation is very subpar and unintuitive.

Screen flickers green, changing all settings to off or low didnt do anything, v sync just made the green flicker more consistent. If I record or screenshot the screenshots/recordings look normal.
This is the only game I've ever seen epileptic seizure causing green screens. I wish I was joking. I suspect it has to do with nVidia's latest drivers but I havn't rolled them back to test yet. (because I don't know how...)

Intel i5, forget which gen, GeForce GTX 1070, 8gb ram. Using an HDTV for a monitor at 1080p 60hz

On paper you do fall within the target audience -- which I believe is lovers of melee games and medieval games -- but in its current state it is too much like Chivalry; however things have been getting better.

Right now the playerbase consists of Chivalry veterans, and with no matchmaking in place you will be up against players with over a thousand hours in Chivalry which does carry over. And without a training system for practising individual mechanics such as dragging and chambering you will be fighting players far more experienced at it than you.

Those features will be added by the launch of the beta, and I expect there to be a flood of rookie players too, so it would be wise to return then.

This is what I'm hoping. Its pretty rough rn but i am looking forward to beta when there is more polish and siege mode. Duelling is too much right now. Skirmishing or TDM would be fine but no one rn plays either. and yeah I fantastic training system would be good. One in which you have the text to read separated from the practical test and a series of challenge modes in which you practice x mechanic or tactic further on your own. I remember Guilty Gear Xrd having a good one to teach its mechanics and each chars combos and advanced tech.

At first glance it does seem like this is a game for anybody interested in HEMA and the arts of knightly combat. However it seems more and more like a super niche focused game geared towards the hardcore chivalry crowd. The mechanics are simple on paper but in practice are very difficult to get used to if you've never played chivalry for more than 100+ hours (I maybe spent 20). I still occasionally have issues with the 240 system detecting right and left sometimes. Dunno if Im twitching the moment before I click and that cancels the original movement I made or what. Neuropathy sucks.

After about 65 hours in Mordhau and being incredibly frustrated by the serious skill gap I have come to think this game is really just for chiv vets. That as it is now its really only fun for the "pros". And anyone new to the genre is basically sol. Nobody new to fighting games learns anything from being wrecked by Daigo or Sonic Fox all the time after all. It doesn't help that there are lots of drag mechanics that look like exploits to people unfamiliar with the genre. I get that they are a part of the core mechanics but it isn't evident at the moment. Even using drag stabs myself on some weapons I found it felt very weird and cheesy. Unnatural. I know some say "draw cut is a legit thing" but um... spears and evening stars don't draw cut.

Now maybe I am wrong and I hope I am. That perhaps as time goes by and more tweaks are made and the modes I look forward to like Siege come to fruition the game will be very very different from what it is now. If Chivalry MW was the call of duty of medieval slasher games then I hope this will be the Battlefield. So I ask if this game is perhaps just too niche? Is it only for those elite veterans from Chivalry or will there be a reason for people like me who love medieval history/warfare and just wanted a cool sword game to break from the over saturated FPS market? Ill always check out every update at least against bots but I might just wait til Beta and some in game tutorials to bother attempting PvP again. Its too frustrating at the moment.

This game is not a casual game in its current state nor was it ever intended to be. It is definitely a try hard and its rough being completely outclassed by the majority who are chiv veterans. But if you bare with it and keep training, first against bots to get used to the mechanics then duels, it gets better and you will get those rare instances of even matches Some rare instance you might net a positive k/d in like a team mode. (i have still yet to do this)

And when it hits beta a new pool of players will arrive with a wider skill range and you'll start getting good matches in which you might know what you're doing. At least this is what I hope for myself anyway.

Good tutorials will go a long way for helping players like me who didn't bother much with chivalry. The main reason I've played this already more than I've played chivalry is because it felt somewhat more fluid if a bit rough around the edges.

In addition to tutorials covering each of the mechanics (especially chambering) it would be nice to see the development of trials and challenges in a training mode, much like going through drills in actual martial arts. I loved trials in games like Virtua Fighter 4 Evo as it helped me learn and put what I learn into practice. Drills in Mordhau would be a great way to raise that skill floor, at least for players who actually use tutorials and training modes.

It would also help to have a glossary of all these terms and acronyms explained. I can guess that flinching means the hit stun you suffer which makes everything you try to do after slower so if you both throw the same attack the one who was in flinch will just get hit again. However, I have no idea what people mean when they talk about waterfalls or ftp, cftp, etc.
