Blocks don't work like M&B. By having the enemies weapon at the centre of your screen as you parry, you essentially do a directional block as you only block at that point and not all around yourself. It's pointless in this game.
Now if you're suggesting that we have held directional block ie. full M&B mode, you might as well go play M&B as this game's pacing and balancing is way different.

No game is ever going to have completely even usage of the entire arsenal, no matter how much you force it. Some items will always be favored by a majority of players. The only way to have a truly balanced game would be to have everyone fight in heavy armor with a long sword and remove everything else, but that'd get boring pretty fast, eh?

There's been a few videos on the topic of absolute balance in video games and how if you have it the game becomes infinitely more boring because it becomes so predictable you can call a game before it even begins. You can't have absolute balance and an interesting game with lots of variety, as the variety is in itself unbalanced.

Would unironically be hype for Indian weapons and armour tbh. Maybe even for the devs to expand their time frame scope to include antiquity period stuff for muh full RP.

Guys come on, literally the best of both worlds here and we're having a hissy fit over dumb shit. All the other suggestions here have been "make shield bad" instead of addressing the issue of shields ignoring the timing aspect of combat. Let's use those Jimmy Neutron brains of ours and come up with a feasible solution that actually solves the core issue.

I don't see how this leads to RSI more than an extended combo window, but I do agree the way it is now is a bit silly. You think you'd want visual confirmation that you've struck someone before committing to a combo rather than queuing up like 5 attacks before you've even seen where the first one went.

Shield suggestion:

Shields have 2 modes.

Dude, Mordhau's fluctuating between over 10k to about 5k constantly (probably when NA or EU wakes up/goes to sleep) and considering the game this was heavily inspired by, its doing pretty well for itself.
Also trying to imply that the game is bleeding players because muh women is hilarious. All games have a massive first turnout, then lose a substantial amount until they finally normalise. The bleed of players over time is usually due to lack of new content. If anything, this game needs the mod tools out round about now along with the customization and maps they have.

Man this whole thread is just pointless. Can we go back to talking about a comp format that isn't just skirmish?

The fact that the shield hitbox extends a foot or more past the actual model of the shield is what makes it magically retarded.

Why is this thread still going? Its just idiots brand new to the game crying that more customization has been planned from the start and that's bad because this game is apparently 100% set in medieval Europe? Despite the fact that devs intentionally don't mention real world places or countries and they've said themselves "fictional but realistic world" so they could have period accurate gear from 1000 to 1600 with humans running around deserts and open fields and castles?
