This happened to me and was caused by having steam installed on my laptop playing world of warships while recovering from shoulder surgery, I did not have mordhau installed on the laptop, but once I logged out of steam and uninstalled it from my laptop, my mordhau character was back to normal on my gaming desktop.
I do not know if just logging out on the 2nd pc would have done it, I went ahead and just uninstalled steam all together.

Hi All,
Just wanted to make a post on what fixed my issue with losing all levels, gold and getting the inventory sync error, which also makes you timeout in game because you can't spawn and then get kicked.
This happened to me and was caused by having steam installed on my laptop playing world of warships while recovering from shoulder surgery, I did not have mordhau installed on this laptop, but once I logged out of steam and uninstalled it from my laptop, my mordhau character was back to normal on my gaming desktop.
I do not know if just logging out on the 2nd pc would have done it, I went ahead and just uninstalled steam all together.
Hopefully this is fixed in the patch, but this is what worked for me.
