It happens so often to me that I accidentally kill or get killed by a team mate because all the blood makes players look like they are from the red team. Especially when fighting on a horse I find it often difficult to figure out if the players is friendly or hostile.

Chivalry had "low rank servers" (only lv1-lv15 players allowed) and it was probably the worst idea the developers ever implemented, especially because Chivalry's skill curve revolves around mastering controversal spinny boi moves.

Instead of new players complaining immediately they would just be in their own little bubble until after a few hours they couldn't play on their special little servers anymore. Then they'd have to join a real server against good players and they'd just complain as much as before the lowrank servers were added.

The level of a player doesn't reflect his skill so that shouldn't determine who is placed together in a match. If it was done like that in Chivalry then I'm not surprised that it wasn't working out.

What I ment is to implement a hidden matchmaking rating for each player and it should be applied to all kind of game modes. Depending on where the player is on the scoreboard at the end of each battle his MMr drops or increases.
Then players with similar MMr are placed together in matches.

Pretty much every competitive game has a MMr. I don't see why that wouldn't work in Mordhau unless the population is just too small to sort players based on their skill.

Essentially, we don't want to hold back an update if it's possible, as there's no real reason to keep ranked from coming if it's ready and the maps aren't, but the maps are very close to being done, so we'll see what happens.

Will there also be a MMR for the frontline mode or just for ranked?
As a beginner I'm tired of facing mostly hardcores in this game and I could bet that many other newcomers feel the same.
It is not fun to be in every match the cannon fodder for all the hardcores in this game. Pls separate us newbs from them.

Player base has dropped off more than 90% since launch. No patch or hotfix in over a month.

From the perspective of a fairly new player I'm not surprised that the population is dropping because this game is just frustrating and discouraging for newcomers.
As a beginner you are thrown in matches where 95% of the players are Chivalry veterans who already play these kind of games since years.
Mordhau urgently needs a Matchmaking Rating for all kind of modes, including frontline. Newbs should be placed with other newbs in a match. Right now there is no learning curve, new players just act as cannon fodder for all the hardcore veterans in this games.

alright, let's add dragons, tanks and magic too, it sure will be ok then

So women are for you equal to dragons and magic?
Dude, you have serious issues.

yeah...they're allowed to customize it like that but they're so ineffective they seem to be random villagers who decided to join the fight so they're worthless

Worthless? I see naked players with a two hand weapon and the Bloodlust perk that are running around one-shotting everyone and topping the charts like that. As long as the character is a western white male that seems to be fine...

Most people still live in the real world, where women are by nature physically weaker then men, so nobody needs them a game about medieval warfare, its called common sense. Ever heard of that before?

Meanwhile players are running with red tights and topless over the the battlefield and use pans as a weapon. That seems to be fine but god forbid, a black person or a women in a medieval game, that's sooo historical inaccurate.

Thanks! That was very helpful.

Next patch will bring ranked matchmaking(1v1,3v3), it will help ease players into the game and seperate people by skill.

Will that MMR also be applied to the frontline mode?

Horses are glitchy right now and its mainly luck that decides who's gonna win a joust. Will also be fixed next patch.

In case of the 1v1 horseman fight, does it matter how the speer/lance is hold? I assume it has to be hold quite high so it's pointing at the opponents chest or head and not on his horse.

Hi,
I play this game for like a week now and it gets more and more frustrating.
I usually queue for the frontline mode and it feels like 95% of the ppl that I face are hardcore players. Is there no matchmaking rating in this game so newbs like me are placed together with other newbs?
What mode is the best to actually learn the game?

There are some things that I don't understand:
When I'm riding a horse and I have a speer equiped (the one with high reach for 10 points) then I still lose almost every 1v1 fight against other horseman. I hold down my speer using the F key but when I have a frontal collision with a other rider then I'm usually the one who dies. What factors determine the winner of such a 1v1 horseman fight?

Whats the best method to control the swing direction of your weapon?
Do you hold down the left mouse button and move it in the direction you want to swing? It seems quite difficult to get the right timing for a double hit with that method.
Or do you just click the left mouse button (w/o holding it down) and controll your swing direction in a other way?
How are the "pros" doing it?

When I'm playing a crossbowman I have this fat Pavise Shield on my back. Now, when I'm running away from a melee opponent he is still able to one or two shot me by hitting at my back. How is that possible? The Pavise Shield doesn't protect the back of the player?
Once I saw a guy who had that shield on the back and a dagger in his hand and he was pwning everyone in melee. He was turning his back to the opponents so the shield blocked all the hits, then he quickly turned 180° to hit once with his dagger.
He was spinning around like a ballerina and killed plenty of players like that.
If that method works then why doesn't everyone use a Pavise Shield on the back? I mean, it only costs 1 point.
