This game has a very steep learning curve, so don't feel discouraged. The reason you get whooped with a training sword is because you don't know how to recover. It's happened to me too (and I think it can happen today as well tbqh) and it is humiliating.

So don't feel bad, of course you won't be as good as someone who's been with the game since launch - or even alpha. There's a lot to learn.

Baxe is broken.

But I love the poleaxe. After they updated it, it's just so good and fun.

I'd never and will never jump on a 24 player server tbh

I think a cosmetic pack would create outrage, but I personally wouldn't mind. A cosmetic pack, as in a DLC which has a nice bundle of neat cosmetics in it, wouldn't be bad. It just needs to be one, not overpriced and two, not so jarring that people can instantly see that "this is a paid item". So, no stupid pimp gear.

Mordhau community : shit on the devs, insult Crush on a regular basis, and scream for Patchie.
Devs : become silent.
Mordhau community : "Why the devs aren't communicating ?"

That Mordhau had a lack of content at launch, I agree. That shit is unbalanced, I agree. That I don't see a lot of communication, even here in the forum, I can agree.

That this community is shitty far higher than their asses, wanting AAA+ quality of game from a small dev team in a cheap game ? Yes, yes they are.

"But muh money"
You spent 30 bucks ! That's it ! If you are a Kickstarter backer and you are angry what the devs promised isn't in the game yet, I agree, you are more of an investor than any other players here. But backers complaining are more the exception than the rule. Proof even in this thread : there's no Kickstarter backer here yet.

I don't think there'd be any outrage if they actually regularly talked about people. I've seen so many where people think the devs have ran off. They haven't, but the lack of dev blogs, which are very standard these days and kind of expected (you can think whatever you want about this, it doesn't change anything) from the consumer, makes it seem like the game's not actually actively worked on.

They have absolutely no place in duels lol

TK should matter based on how frequent they happen, and how rapid your accumulation of team damage was. If you've dealt a good load of team damage in a short while, you should be automatically kicked.

Most of these balance changes are extremely questionable. Decreasing the parry window I can understand, but a global decrease in release time? The battleaxe is so broken now. It already was faster than Sonic, and now it's lightning quickj. And the poleaxe - the added reach was needed but 3htk on head is an absolute joke.

Seriously worried about the development of this game now.

The fact you need to open console to votekick unless someone says something in chat is really glaring. I like to think that the developers are working on a system where you can select from the scoreboard (and actually SCROLL DOWN the scoreboard too), and where it displays kick reason and team damage et cetera.

Like in Chivalry, I found it just too short to keep using. It's nonsense that the alt mode is even shorter tbh

This is a topic I didn't expect but I'm happy to see. If there's a perk I see often it's Bloodlust, along with Friendly and the other common ones of course. Bloodlust to me is a rather blatantly overpowered perk. It has a hefty cost for a perk, but it provides the best healing in game. In multiway combat it allows you to bounce right back into the action (almost), and effectively pubstomp noobs. Now of course, a good player can destroy without the perk, and you obviously don't need the perk to do well at all, but I can't think of anything more ridiculous than something that just flat-out heals you back to full health when you kill someone. It's just crazy how you can pick this, a very strong weapon and still have points for decent armour.

They can't even sort out the few maps they have.

There's too much trolling allowed in these maps, groups of the enemy capturing your ballista and shooting your team in the back from your own base. Yet you can't useless shoot the enemy with that same ballista due to it's position but it's in the perfect location to shoot your own people in the back. . . .no map testing.

Mountain peak, blue sided.
taiga turned in to blue sided map.
Camp red wins most of the time. Cata + better ammo crate locations.
Grad, I see red spawn camped a lot but seems to be a somewhat balanced map.
Crossroads, never play it to find out if it's balanced because it's just that terrible and should have been removed from the game.

Then you have the spawns locations, bottlenecked or open. You spawn around the enemy, they spawn around you. Someone dies just after they spawn. . .

There's also no effective way to counter trolls. On several maps, one guy with a fire pot can effectively destroy a team's efforts to win by throwing firepots in the way of the small chokepoints you need to best get to the frontline. If votekicking was actually accessible instead of this roundabout funsies with opening the console unless you're lucky enough to have them say something in chat. Why isn't there an automatic kick to dealing a metric fuckton of friendly fire in a row? There's no scenario where it's not sketchy that someone does a thousand friendly damage in the span of five minutes.

I would like to throw my thoughts in here, probably has been mentioned before, but i just want to say it. Mordhau takes place in the middle ages. There were no women on the battlefield, period. Wenn there was one, it was extremely rare. Once in a century or less. So that you can't play as a female warrior makes sense within the world of Mordhau. I don't think it would be bad if they implemented it, but i definitely don't think they should be judged for it. And in battle, i don't look at what gender they have, but how to kill them as quickly as possible. So to add females really is just to satisfy our societies need to make women equal to men. However, it is complaints such as these that create more hatred for feminism. Therefore, if you want to play a woman, play a rpg. Mordhau is a battle game. It's not about looks, it's not about gender. It's about the glory of battle amd it shouldn't matter in what kind of ingame body you experience it in.

its based off of it not a actual Medevil simulator

No. Sorry to have to tell you this, but this game is a far cry from being realistic. The mishmash of arms and armour and the inability to stick and pick a certain period of time makes it very unrealistic and unimmersive. Chivalry did a much better job with the theme there, but it was bad there too anyway. Of course, the design of most of the armour and weapon is absolutely excellent when it comes to realism, in my opinion at least. The lack of realism doesn't make the fact that there are so many different sets of armour and weapons not a good thing though, it adds a lot of nice diversity to the gameplay. You can go with a halberd just as much as a rapier or a longsword. Hell, you can go halberd and do your best to cosplay as a viking or something.

Is there anything that the game can go without and not die currently? If we can make a list of things the game doesn't have to focus on maybe that'd help the devs focus their efforts.

What do you mean? The game is fine in pretty much all other aspects imo. Just needs more maps.
There are some things that could use some more tweaking, like balance(archery, existing maps etc.) and horde mode, but thats minor improvements and wont have that much impact. Maps will.

Well, it's a bit more than that and the problem is the size of the dev team will need time to deal with all the issues. New maps won't change the fact Frontlines is a pretty stale KotH gamemode. Horde needs tweaking, existing maps need to be actually balanced, we need new maps, and there are definitely balance changes that need to take place (I have no idea what you mean about archery, I think it's in a good spot, unless you're saying it needs to be buffed?). All in all there's a lot to be done.

Is no game free from the scourge of competetive play? I don't have any faith at all that this game has the same appeal as most big titles for being competetive titles. Ranked play and an increased focus on meta will only make the game more stale for the typical player who can't keep up with the meta. The game's learning curve is quite steep as is. As much as I despise how every game has to become an Esports-esque title, I'm split between thinking it'd benefit Mordhau or not. I lean towards not however.

I would never touch ranked gaming, but there definitely needs to be more game modes that people can just jump right into and have fun. Campaign maps from Rising Storm for example are pretty interesting.
