Yesterday i upgraded from a gtx 1060 to a gtx 1660 ti, and i also bought a second monitor.

On my gtx 1060 with 1 monitor i had no lag at all, but with 1660 ti and 2 monitors im getting occasional noticable drops in fps. Not just in Mordhau but in other games as well im getting a bit lag. I have not changed any settings.

Now this is not only Mordhau related but a more general hardware question, has anyone experienced the same?
On the second monitor im only running chrome with the forum up.
I expected the extra monitor to have some small impact, but considering the gpu is quite better than my previous one it seems strange it should have this big impact.

Does a second monitor really lower fps that much or could something else be wrong?

this is a common issue even for much more beefy gpu's.... if its unplayable, just unplug it...
i can run mordhau on 240fps most of the times, i do lose frames when its getting crowded, if i unplug my second monitor i won't drop from 240 doesn't matter what, GTX 1080 here..

Alright, thanks, i didnt think it would be that taxing on the gpu. After lowering some settings i luckily seems to have gotten it stable at 90-110 fps now without the sudden drops. As for unplugging the monitor, do you actually have to unplug? Isnt turning it off enough or does the gpu somehow still take it into account?

Guess ill go for a highier tier card next time.. btw, does the refresh rate on the second monitor have any impact at all on the fps on main monitor?

my main monitor is 240hz, and i try to run all games on 240 by default.
and no just turning the monitor off doesn't do anything, the gpu still sends whatever there is, aka extended desktop if you move your mouse to the turned off monitor it will still go there and you will be able to click on shit just wont see it.

yes there is impact on everything, the monitor will try to use whatever hz it has, 144, 165, 200, etc, you can lower the hz in the NVIDIA driver settings, idk about amd

Actually i found out you can disable the second monitor using the NVIDIA control panel on the 'set up multiple displays' setting by just unchecking it there, which appears to basically do the same as unplugging it :). What hz do you run on ur second monitor?

You dont need to back as far as the middleages, even just 80 years ago Europe was still 99.99% white. Here in Norway nobody i know had even seen a non-white person before 1970, and only a handfull before 1990. Thats how rare it was even up to our time and its the same in most of Europe.
These "journalists"/activists love pushing their anti-european propaganda, and dont let any opportunity to piss on Europeans and European identity go to waste.
Reality is Spain and southern Italy was taken by arabs, the rest of Europe was extremly white and the only non-whites there would be was a few travelling traders.

Its as stupid as saying africa has never been entirely african, because there was always a small group of asian and european traders there, but we all know they would never say something like this about a group other than europeans/europe. Most of these "journalists" are extremly brainwashed, or lying on purpose to undermine europeans identity(and by a extension the very existence of Europeans as a people).

Now im not saying the game should be realistic or that it is realistic, im simply commenting his statement about a white medieval Europe being a fantasy, its rather the opposite that is a fantasy as Europe has been extremly homogenous up untill just 30-40 years ago, heck even when i was kid 25 years ago in Scandinavia it was still almost entirely homogenous. But certain people just cant stand the thought of that i guess. Nothing can stand in way of their goal of a rootless globohomo consumer who's identity only revolves around which ever product from mega cooporation he temporarily enjoys the most to consume.

It seems when people found out female characters are planned, they assumed it is exclusively what is being worked on or that it is some top priority.

Well, exclusively? No, but it did sound like it was something they were working on, with 11 people you have to prioritize and having someone making textures and models for customization(skins and weapons included) when he could have used that time making models and textures for maps instead, would not be very good.
But if its not something they are using such resources on right now, thats good.

The word you are looking for is "customization".

Call it what you will, it would be madness prioritizing that over maps in the current state. Whoever is making skins, texture and models for more customization should be put to make models and textures for maps instead. Or ideally hire more people if they can afford it.

Yea i agree with most of what you say, though i do think people need to calm down a little bit. A portion of casual players disappearing does not mean the game will die. Mordhau is doing quite better than what Chivalry was last time i checked.

However i do agree they need to hurry up and focus on adding more maps, and good maps. Thats the nr.1 thing needed now. That and they need to communicate better, either through the mordhau steam news page or on both forums. Some kind of frequent "here's what we are working at".

The game is not in any danger of dying yet, but it probably will be losing more players if they are not adding at least new good 2 maps within the next 2 months.
The game itself is good, its just that playing the same few maps all the time gets boring. Ideally there should have been twice as many maps as we currently have.

Lack of maps is the main problem i think. Compared to chivalry (which survived for many years) the only thing Chivalry did better was maps. The objective-chivalry maps were bigger, more numerous and better made. So this is the one thing they should focus most on right now. Not adding women or "diversity" or something else unimportant, maps first.

That being said, losing a big number of casual players after some months is to be expected, especially temporarily while they wait for more content/maps, Chivalry experienced that as well and it was basically the 1000 or so hardcore players + content updates that kept the game alive for that long.

Its not THAT bad, and it could easily be improved i think. Make the center fortress 2 times bigger and add 1 extra control point at top and bottom part of it.

Is there anything that the game can go without and not die currently? If we can make a list of things the game doesn't have to focus on maybe that'd help the devs focus their efforts.

What do you mean? The game is fine in pretty much all other aspects imo. Just needs more maps.
There are some things that could use some more tweaking, like balance(archery, existing maps etc.) and horde mode, but thats minor improvements and wont have that much impact. Maps will.

It is known.

But not only new maps - the game needs GOOD maps. No point adding 5 more Crossroads...
And those maps don't help that much when the balance stays that bad.

Some big city or fortress-maps would be cool. And forest maps. Also castle sieges.

Playing crossroads if the enemy holds the center and has good cavalry is indeed extremly frustrating.
Had several games like that the last few days where most of the team couldnt even get within the walls of the center.

Not sure what they should about it, i mean they have to be powerfull otherwise there's no point using them. But they also have to be not too hard to counter, otherwise it becomes too frustrating, especially when there are a lot of them.
Right now it does feel they are a bit too strong or too fast, or that some new way to counter them should be added. Its only a problem on crossroads though, due to the number of them and open space. So perhaps some extra defense structures would be a good idea, making it easier to reach the walls of the center, or some terrain or objects that you can use to avoid the cavalry (rocks etc.)

I agree, it needs at least 5 more maps, and fast. That should be priority 1 right now. Its way more important than adding females or more customization choices. I like the game a lot but it does start to get boring playing the same maps all the time.

Yes. Using traps now is often pointless since some friendly will always run into it.

Alternative to the regular crossbow that's already as good as the longbow, except for it's reload time? I disagree with this entirely, we don't need more powerful ranged weapons. There's plenty of options. This is a melee game, not hide and shoot people who are trying to fight.

We do need more powerfull ranged weapons, they are too weak. Not even once have i seen a archer manage to top the scoreboard or even top 3. I have over 600 hours played as archer in Chivalry and even i am doing far better as melee than as archer in Mordhau. Playing archer in Mordhau right now is simply not fun imo and you will generally get more kills with a javelin build.

Its not purely a melee game, its mainly a melee game, but they added ranged weapons so they have to be good enough to be a decent option otherwise they should not have added them at all.
The problem with archery right now is that its good against low and unarmored people, but quite bad against heavy armor. And almost everyone is using heavy armor. A heavy crossbow as a anti-heavy armor ranged weapon could fix this, though headshot damage should also be increased for longbow and normal crossbow.

Some people really hate archers, and there was a lot of this in Chivalry too, but balance-wise it worked fine. Longbow and heavy crossbow was powerfull enough that people actually tried to avoid you at range or used shield. Not like in Mordhau where you can tank the arrows and just run at them with the come-at-me emote.

How do you get those extreme faces? Is there some way to make the face editing less restricted?

Edit: nevermind, figured it out. To people who dont know: read the info box on the left side when editing character. Use q w e to change edit mode and mousewheel to cycle areas.

Please add a heavy crossbow. It should deal higher damage than the regular crossbow, but cost more points and slower reload time.
Basically similar to the heavy crossbow that is in Chivalry. It would bring a alternative to the longbow for people who like to play archer, currently there are few choices.

Out of 93 hours played i can literally count on two hands the number of times ive seen anything that can qualify as racism or "toxicity". This is on EU servers. This is not a problem. You'll see worse playing Dota or LoL for 2 hours than what you do on Mordhau in 40 hours.
