That's still a huge number of people. How many are active on the daily? And what sort of age are most of the users?

There's such a tough balance to achieve.
I think archers should be able to be top scorers.

However, only a very very skilled archer, I think this should be balanced with a shift towards encouraging headshots.

I'd like to see:

  • headshot points bonus (archers higher on the scoreboard even if they aren't getting that much stronger)
  • damage scaling that encourages headshots and discourages body/legshots. EG, 20% less damage than currently on body and legshots and 20% more damage on headshots. Still two shot longbow and xbow against t3 helmets though.

More archery focused mechanics, some basic ideas. (Not all of them are great, but just to get the creative juice flowing)

  • Increase utility of arching by making legshots useful?.. short term small movement penalty associated with being hit by arrows in the legs, multiplied by how many times you're hit there.
  • face hits obscuring vision (until arrows are removed by pressing e)?
  • Arching utility might encourage shield use in frontlines?

No further ideas for the moment..

One question..

over 1500 members?

This is the first I'm hearing of this clan.

Javelins are pretty balanced to be honest. It costs 3/6/9 points for 2/4/6 shots that are slower, travel less distance and are arguably more difficult to aim than bows and xbows.

The only advantage of javs is that you can get through your ammo a tad faster than you can shoot longbow and xbow, however I think this encourages people to throw them with much less consideration into large groups instead of aiming for strategic targets - just my experience in using them myself.

Yes, lots of people are using them. Give it a few weeks and they'll drop off the novelty train. Personally I like the flavour they bring.

Breathing more life into this thread, this is a really shit bug. It's forcing server owners to sit around and admin their servers to keep civility.

Body feinting is uniquely difficult to read, however it is also a skill, you need to be able to convince your opponent that you are absolutely trying to Accel or decel your next strike by moving your character convincingly. It is strong but that's because it can be hard to do correctly.

Also, feints cost 10 stamina a pop. If someone feints you 5 times that is now half of their stamina gone.

This might be okay in a 1v1 if you can land a headshot with the maul, but in any other case and with any other weapon it's pretty much going to lead to your demise.

This has gone pretty far off topic. I'd suggest if you want to contribute further you should consider the original commentary, instead of needless name-calling or petty insults, it's quite clearly against the forum rules.

Eveningstar - for dueling supremacy
Spear - for all around skirmish/frontline
Bastard sword - because it's a great standalone weapon and is cheap and versatile, great for stabs in team matches and slashes hold up for duels.

I like the focus on 9th to 15th century European style. Yes it's not exactly perfectly cohesive, but frankly so far there is very very far from a full set of armaments depicted in this period and culture alone. I'd like to see more and better chainmail, other historical helmet options, more variations of platemail and even more varied weaponry options. There's a lot more to explore and I'd prefer to keep the European style and cohesiveness and continue to flesh it out.

That topic actually changed my mind, the eveningstar is definitely worth 8 points.

This is the most terrifying and sacrelige suggestion I've seen on this entire forum how dare you suggest removing the yeet emblem.

Where did I say to remove the yeet emblem you fucking weirdo

Well you said make it the highest level requirement 'instead of', there's certainly a strong sense that implies replacement, I'll use it in a different sentence to show you how I got that impression:

If I got a loaf of bread to write on the forums
instead of tolazy4name, there sure would be a good chance it would contribute something more valueable.

so I feel more should be done about an individuals control to manage it, any suggestions on that note, I'm in favour of.

If you think the devs should give people like you controll over banning and reporting people, in any shape or form then you are insane.

Thats exactly what im talking about. There needs to be an automated system which kicks people on its own, so that people like you who only want to create drama and outrage dont have any saying in things like that.

See I was trying so hard to hide it behind my impartial language and presentation of a general and non specific or targeted argument but, you get me. I was definitely trying my hardest to create drama and outrage. Thank you, thank you so much.

AFAIK you can ban people from your server. So there are tools for moderation. They are just not applied on the official servers.

And I do ban people on my server, but I've never done it for anything in the chat.. yet. being in AU myself there's some pretty impressive name calling going around. In some ways you have to respect their creativity, but as long as it's just angry children having a linguistically fruitful whinge in keyboard mashing format, there are definitely no bans going to be issued for things said in chat.

I personally haven't experienced what the OP and many others in different threads refer to, racist or bigotry or anything like that in my server's chat.

I think the thing that many people are missing is that for anyone wanting to form a community around their Mordhau experience have no tools to moderate it. If someone wants to moderate abuse or offensive content on servers they pay for to maintain a community they wish to appease or cultivate, then that should be available to them. In the same vein, if the devs state rules on their official servers then they should make attempts to police it better, or provide ways for it to be moderated or filtered by the end user.

It doesn't matter what the reasons are, but having tools for admins to keep their games managed is important; whether thats to prevent griefing, abuse, chat moderation or even basic tools like game and player management, and there is a real lack of any of this in Mordhau currently.

Also, posting comments just to insult OP does not contribute to the discussion whatsoever. If I see a thread on a topic I have no interest or input in, I don't post. It would be welcome for some of you lot to do the same thing. Whether someone should or shouldn't be offended by something is not what should be discussed, as it is irrelevant. The point raised by OP is valid; there are no tools for moderation or server management.

Well said

I'm going to start by apologizing to the OP for all the genuinely disgusting things people are posting here as a response, this is one of the foulest threads I've seen on this forum and that's coming from someone who read the entire 76 pages of the thread about women playable characters in mordhau.

Frankly you should all be ashamed.

We are here to talk about killing and how the killing could be more fun and balanced.
Not to walk around eggshells for grown adults with entitlement and sensitivity issues.

Finding a balance between having open and free speech in any environment is always a challenge, but there's never any cause for disparaging or ill-mannered speaking of others, it's just not justified.

However I'll always defend someone's right to say things I disagree with, but this isn't about disagreement. This is about bigotry, racism, sexism, hate speech and pointless inflammation. It's always existed in online gaming in some strangely significant density larger than other online communities, so I feel more should be done about an individuals control to manage it, any suggestions on that note, I'm in favour of.

I'm sorry if that idea somehow bothers you, but it should not bother you because it does not impact you in any way shape or form. Now.. if you, or anyone else are bothered by something that does not impact you in any way shape or form.. does that make you... Entitled?

That's not for me to judge.

Hi All,

I've noted a few threads now about the advantages of running a build with no weapon and bloodlust with T3 armour and then obtaining a weapon in frontlines or TDM. I do partially agree this can sometimes give quite a significant advantage, and the build is popular.

There was also one particular thread about the Scavenger Perk, and I have to agree that because nobody picks secondary weapons, it's a pretty useless perk.

My suggestion is pretty simple and I think it would fix both these problems. However there is room to expand this and make it a more elegant solution.

++ Solution ++

Instead of dropping your wielded weapon upon death 100% of the time. Implement a simple drop rate mechanic. This can be tweaked until balance is achieved, but I think it should be about 50%, and I think it should cycle randomly between all the available weapons of the deceased. Meaning there is a 1/6 chance of someone carrying 3 slots worth of weapons/equipment dropping one of the specific items when they die.

This will throughly reduce the number of useful/effective weapons on the battlefield, severely nerfing individuals who choose to forgo a weapon, and significantly buffing the scavenger perk as you will be able to choose your opponent and be guaranteed one of their weapons, even if they switch before death.

Thoughts/Opinions?
