Hi All,

I've noted a few threads now about the advantages of running a build with no weapon and bloodlust with T3 armour and then obtaining a weapon in frontlines or TDM. I do partially agree this can sometimes give quite a significant advantage, and the build is popular.

There was also one particular thread about the Scavenger Perk, and I have to agree that because nobody picks secondary weapons, it's a pretty useless perk.

My suggestion is pretty simple and I think it would fix both these problems. However there is room to expand this and make it a more elegant solution.

++ Solution ++

Instead of dropping your wielded weapon upon death 100% of the time. Implement a simple drop rate mechanic. This can be tweaked until balance is achieved, but I think it should be about 50%, and I think it should cycle randomly between all the available weapons of the deceased. Meaning there is a 1/6 chance of someone carrying 3 slots worth of weapons/equipment dropping one of the specific items when they die.

This will throughly reduce the number of useful/effective weapons on the battlefield, severely nerfing individuals who choose to forgo a weapon, and significantly buffing the scavenger perk as you will be able to choose your opponent and be guaranteed one of their weapons, even if they switch before death.

Thoughts/Opinions?

I personally have no problem with shit players using an easy weapon that they think is good
if they want to get better, that's up to them.

Rapiers are shit. Low reach, weak and fast slashes giving no room for swing manipulation/dragging. 1H advantage is no more, using a shield is a death sentence since the nerf, I simply cannot agree with anything you are saying.

If you don't want competitive then don't play it, simple as.

This level of pontificating is frustrating.

That word is complete irony.

Competitive matchmaking does make people angry, bitter and often times it can make the otherwise silly and lighthearted gameplay very unfun... But you can choose not to play it and just play unranked? as is with every competitive game ever...

So I don't see why you're complaining.

Yes you are wrong, the maul is a remarkably average weapon. The thing that really holds it back is hit stop. You get amongst a bunch of really well armoured opponents and then go for a glorious swing only to mash the backside of some Archer standing next to you, not even doing lethal damage because, only headshots are a one hit KO against all armour types.

Unlike our friend the executioner sword.

It's okay in a 1v1 against unskilled opponents, that's it's niche I feel.

My suggestion is to rework this and any other armour that can have conflicting colours. pls. anyone that can get some dev attention on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

This guy decided to make a whole video on this exploit alone. Kudos.

I know how to use the markers, however i'm mostly concerned about the advantage this grants against most players.

some pretty low effort commentary.

I'm not commenting, i'm offering help. Your point is valid, if what you're describing is really what it sounds like.

Unfortunately I did not get any screenshots. But definitely I was not mistaken. This person would have likely invested countless amounts of time and effort, trial and error to get these colours showing, even though i worked out it was an enemy, the split second in which I was unsure was definitely an unfair advantage.

I suggest this needs to be looked at before more people try this.

Encountered a guy in an OCE today server called 'tmanwoody' who was playing on blue team, however somehow he manged to have a pronounced red armour piece on the leg area that made it impossible to tell he was on blue, in fact i couldn't actually see any blue on his armour at all. The only way to tell he was on blue was the, frankly inadequate and at often times fairly invisible floating nametag.

He very much knew he'd found an exploit because he was proudly bragging about it in All Chat.

These armour pieces need to be looked at, anything that can allow you to have the opposite team colour should not be enabled in frontline or TDM modes.

please fix.

Bump, also having this issue. Often freezes right after launch, only a hard reset fixes it...

Also, should note that enemies can't votekick you anymore since the last patch which might go towards removing some discretions you mentioned in your first post.

Yeah I'm standing firm in the idea that vote kick is an abusable system that mostly imbeciles resort to using when losing, upset, etc.

Just today been vote kicked three times for 'doing too good'. Whether it be me on foot, or on a siege weapon. Just seems like I can't play the game. But not ONLY can I not play when kicked, I lose my gold and experience too. If I got compensation when being kicked I'd be fine but I don't - system needs an overhaul or just removed.

Democracy in a salty cunt-filled game isn't a good idea. Let people vote on maps, not on who can and can't play.

As it sort of always ends up in these kinds of discussions, the onus is on you to come up with a system that works better than votekicking.

Although it has the undesired side effect of kicking people simply for being disliked rather than actually doing anything wrong, there isn't really any better way to remove players who abuse the freedom the game provides to ruin the experience for everyone else.

Also, I do want to add that being rude/distasteful in chat and generally irritating to other players in ways that borderline votekickable offenses, that you shouldn't be surprised if other players unanimously agree they would rather play without you. To avoid that, just modify your behaviour even a tad. It's not a big ask.

Just being able to see someone when they can't see you is enough of an advantage to want to remove it in any fair and competitive context.

If it's a private server. You can ban them using their steam ID, either in the config files or using the console command.

To be honest i would have thought a votekick would have also used their steam ID to enforce the temporary ban, so this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Are you sure that this happened? Perhaps it was someone else, or perhaps the votekick temporary ban had expired?

There standard server config file is definitely restricted in terms of what you can change. I'd like to see more flexibility there in general..

Unfortunately i don't think when balancing the game the devs were comfortable with the perspective of 'it's not a problem if you're just a decent player' otherwise Shields never would have been nerfed.

And despite only having 100 in game hours I've already seen some things that, for lack of a better term straight up give me chiv flashbacks. I don't believe that kind of play style was intended to be possible.

I've definitely got footage that I'll post in due time.

For the moment I'll definitely be disabling third person on my servers as soon as it's possible.

You can still backpedal with a shield and be literally impossible to kick.
