No fix, no acknowledgement that the issue even exists.

Should I just uninstall? You guys obviously don't give a damn that we're having a miserable experience trying to play on your potato servers.

Then people will just start using short weapons all the time because long weapons would be too much of a liability with this mechanic. Then we'll be here complaining that one handers are the meta and the whole cycle begins anew.

No game is ever going to have completely even usage of the entire arsenal, no matter how much you force it. Some items will always be favored by a majority of players. The only way to have a truly balanced game would be to have everyone fight in heavy armor with a long sword and remove everything else, but that'd get boring pretty fast, eh?

It’s not that they’re being silent they’ve just seldomly responded to a few threads here and there about plans for the future. So I don’t blame most people for missing the devs responses.

To my knowledge, they haven’t made major public announcements. I think a weekly dev blog would clear up a lot of confusion and ease some of the worry players have. But rest assured, they ARE infact working on updates and improvements. They just haven’t given us an ETA because they themselves don’t know when it will be finished.

For now, we know that they are working on a new map (Feitora), 1v1 ranked, content and general polish. SDK is in the works but apparently a long term project.

They need to do a total revamp of frontline and every map. This is what happens when all the devs' work goes into the mechanics and none into the modes or maps to supplement them. Frontline gets stale really quickly.

I don't know. Just seems more and more like casual players were a total afterthought and all their emphasis was on high level duels.

I'm on US east which should be the most populated region or close to it, yet I can only see a handful of populated frontline servers with decent ping. The only other game modes that have anyone in them are duel yards and horde (mostly gold farming servers). FFA, TDM, and Skirmish are all ghost towns.

Devs, I think it might be time to stop being so quiet and actually start communicating. We don't know when the next patch will go live or even what will be in it.

I don't know how well this would work. I don't like the idea of players randomly getting plonked into the losing team partway through a match. That just sounds like a recipe for frustration.

How would you accurately measure player skill, anyway? Elo and glicko matchmaking systems aren't easy to implement and come with their own problems (i.e. Community segregation. Not enough people to adequately fill out every skill bracket).

Why does it seem like every game I like is a sinking ship?

LawBreakers - I don't want to talk about it. Just glad I didn't spend money on this.
Paragon - Killed by Fortnite.
Unreal Tournament - Killed by Fortnite.
Insurgency Sandstorm - Terrible launch.
Quake Champions - Terrible launch, awful microtransactions.

Whatever. Guess I can add this to my growing list of games I liked but nobody else did.

No way in hell can this ever become an e-sport with this awful netcode and hit reg.

My thoughts are that I'm sick of hearing about this nontroversy. We were all merrily chopping off each other's heads and arguing over what's OP before a bunch of games urinalists decided to kick the hornet's nest for no other reason than hate clicks.

And every time it seems like it's dying down, someone comes and stokes the flames again.

Join a server that says 50 ping. In game it's never below 80 and consistently over 90.

This makes it fucking impossible to play. I can't parry properly, read feints, or chamber thrust spammers because everything is 0.5-0.8 seconds ahead of what I'm actually seeing. It's infuriating. My internet isn't the greatest, but that's never been a problem in any other game except this one.

I constantly lose fights I should have won or at least been close because by the time I see an attack coming to parry it, I'm already hit. I can't do a fucking thing against thrust spammers because the game absolutely refuses to register my chamber attempts. I can't do anything against feint spammers because by the time I see the fucker draw his arm back, I'm already hit.

Fuck these servers. I'm getting flashbacks to Call of Duty 4 on console and how dependent that game was on connection. Unless the netcode improves or I get some servers I actually ping decently to, this game is unplayable.

if you unironically say toxic you should be forced to get a vasectomy

In Dark Souls there's a status condition called 'toxic'. Is it okay then? :P

There is no reaction because this is a bunch of faux outrage cooked up by journos for some easy hate clicks.

Well, they are effectively getting bullied by them though lmao.

I don't think the game should be censored tbh, I think right wingers should be sent to a fucking gulag instead. No right wingers, no retarded shit in game chat, easy solution imho

The censorship you advocate can - and will - be used against you one day, and we'll all be here to say, "We told you so."

On top of that, games urinalists have now started running a smear campaign against the game which will only scare away even more players (yes, people do still read Kotaku and PC Gamer, much to our dismay).

I really don't see the claims that this will "scare away gamers" to be well founded... it will just scare away people who weren't going to play the game anyway. Thank god they didn't look through the "do you still enjoy playing mordhau" thread for quotes, that'd scare more gamers away than typical toxicity lol.

Doesn't matter. People are now spreading lies about the game and the developers. There are already numerous threads on the Steam forums saying how the community just proved PC Gamer right (because apparently people aren't allowed to defend themselves or get angry when journos create fake outrage for clicks).

I can't help but feel Torn Banner and/or Epic is paying someone under the table to smear the Mordhau developers to drive more sales for Chivalry 2 next year...

Love the game. First competitive multiplayer game I've been into in a long time, but I'm starting to have some regrets about buying so shortly after release.

There's no good game modes. Frontline is fun for a minute but gets old fast. No one plays TDM, and 99% of all FFA servers are just duel yards. Not to mention the highly questionable map balancing.

Oh, and Crossroads. They managed to make an already hated map even more hated by completely unbalancing it and turning it into a one-sided stomp fest.

Having the best mechanics in the world doesn't mean a thing if there aren't any good game modes to supplement them. Frontline just doesn't excite me at all. I'd happily play TDM all day, if there was a single active server with a decent population... which there isn't. I'm nowhere near the right skill level to have any amount of fun in duel servers.

I'm fine with swing manipulation as a core mechanic, but could you please tone down the crazy player model movement? At least reduce the amount of torso movement induced by camera manipulation. Right now, optimal play makes people look like they're being possessed by Satan.

On top of that, games urinalists have now started running a smear campaign against the game which will only scare away even more players (yes, people do still read Kotaku and PC Gamer, much to our dismay).

We're really bad with timelines, we thought the game would originally come out in march 2018 - we're working on some things (new maps, ranked, etc) and they're nearing completion. We'd like to give more concrete estimates but it's hard without layers of project management and staff, as it stands at the moment we've got 9 devs all working remotely.

Assuming you already have at least the occasional Discord session with the other devs for a status update, the only missing link here would be a community forum manager.

If you don't have one yet, hire one.
If you already have one, fire him/her.

I'm sure you'll even find plenty of people right here on this forum if you make an announcement asking for a select few part-time volunteer community managers - basically just standard moderators you'll include in your weekly dev Discord session.

He says right to the sitting community manager.

Seems like the developers got caught like a deer in headlights with Mordhau's surprise success.

Beginning to seriously worry if there will even be a community left by next year.

I'm always 20-30 ping over what the server browser says, and it frequently spikes up into the 100s and 200s.

I haven't had this issue with other games. Every other game I have plays just fine, so it isn't on my end.
