Also mentioned something about stricter turn caps or something, which I assume is to make it so people can't do helicopter/contortion stuff as much. overhead attacks supposedly have extra 5º on them to make it a bit easier to hit people - I guess a lot of people were missing with overhead attacks.
Either way, I lost spectacularly through my own fault, misclicks, attacks not registering, & attacks on both sides phasing through one another instead of connecting.
Ranked is broken, second that. I did my placements last night. Lost all but one of them, somehow got placed in gold 2.
Almost everyone I ended up playing against used throwables or chucked their weapons at me. Lot of helicopter tactics going on. Even ended up fighting a troll with 2 pans & a dagger who kept running behind the pillars on contraband & playing peek-a-boo while trying to chuck his pans & dagger at me. I also fought against 2 rapier users, one of them had 2 rapiers & a shield (talk about overkill).
Matchmaking based on skill is one thing, but I think they should create a bunch of premade classes with specific weapons that can be used. Zero perks. Zero throwables/ranged weapons, & the alt attack mode (for weapons that can be thrown should be disabled). The classes should be customizable cosmetically though so that you can change armour pieces (for same armour tier), color them, change weapon skins, etc.
As for the maps, I like that they've created small enclosed areas, but I think it would be more beneficial to just have a small ish enclosed ring that the players are locked into (like the one in camp that people use for 1v1 with refs on duel servers). There shouldn't be anything for players to run away & hide behind or climb on top of. The focus should just be you against the other player without having to worry about the environment.
Also, still really hoping an independent volume slider for in-game voices will be added so I can turn them down/off as it irritates the shit out of me when some muppet is spamming voice over lines one after the other - guess it's a tactic, but it frustrates the hell out of me.
@link_mah_boi aye I know they didn't do well in sales. I literally bought the deluxe edition via origin just after the first week or so with a 50% discount or something. Was what €25 or something - I can't remember the exact price. Don't really know why I bothered getting it to be honest as I haven't enjoyed it & the only reason I bought it was because the people I play with in a small gaming community I'm in were playing it. I've not really enjoyed battlefield since BF4 & Bad Company 2.
I don't really follow gaming news much - or news in general for that matter. I just assumed it was because it's a badly optmized mess of a game. BF1 is also bad in terms of optimization. I used to get 60fps on that when it came out. High settings, 60fps @ 1080p, then after a few updates (anti-cheat nonsense) my fps kept decreasing & decreasing & the last time I tried playing it I was getting about 25-60fps on lowest settings. I get around 30-60fps on BFV on lowest settings.
As for the toggle it sounds simple, but it's also not. They'd either have to figure out whether to convert everyone who is male/female (depending on which toggle is selected) into a generic male/female or keep the current facial settings & voice pitch etc. I guess if voices for both had same voice styles such as raider, bandit, etc then you could easily change from male to female version or vice versa.
People left BFV because they added females? I haven't played it in an age because it's a buggy unoptimized mess that runs worse & worse with each update. Also it's more or less exactly the same as BF1. The only thing that keeps most players coming back to BFV are the tides of war challenges they keep dishing out in which you get to unlock various weapons/cosmetics by completing the challenges.
10.8k people vs 1.2k people. Who cares? I just want the option to mute/turn down the volume of voice over lines so I don't have to listen to people constantly spamming them - regardless of gender.
As for females & other ethnicities, player customization is one of the features that bring in a lot of players these days - setting aside historical accuracy / accuracy in general. While it might not be important to the small handful of core players, it's probably one of a small handful of features the game has to offer that will entice casual players into handing over their money - especially if they can cosplay as one of their favourite GOT characters, or Conan the Barbarian, or x character from Vikings, etc.
I like Rainbow Six Sieges team kill/damage system - on paper that is, but in reality it ended up not being so great as you have no control over whether or not the person you killed/damaged will forgive you or punish you regardless of whether it was accidental or on purpose. In Siege team kills happen, but not very often - unless you have stupid team mates that aren't remotely aware of their surroundings & run in front of you just as you start firing or intentionally get themselves killed for the bloody meme or whatever.
In Mordhau, I'm not sure how reverse friendly fire/death would work as team killing & damage happens a lot due to people wildly swinging around massive 2h weapons around without a care of who or what they hit. & then of course you have the catapult people that often get a lot of kills, but also a lot of accidental friendly deaths too. Firebombs also do wonders for teamkilling/damage too.
Only solutions I can think of are:
teamkills/damage in spawn area should give massive negative points as it's obviously intentional - it would need to be substantial due to the amount of points that are now earned just from capturing an objective point or how easy it is to point whore with med bags. Let's say something along the lines of -5000 points to make them have to work hard to end up with positive points. I suppose another solution would also be to reduce the amount of points they earn for kills/objectives/heals, etc too.
finishing a match with negative points could reduce the total xp/gold the player has accumulated through playing the game thus possibly lowering their level or putting them into negative gold.
a proper report system where we can right click on a player via the scoreboard & issue a report against them - the report should have options we can select from, such as: toxicity, disruptive behaviour, intentional teamkilling, etc. After x reports submitted by different players over a certain time period should warrant looking into the reported player - expecting a player to be looked into for each single report would be way too much hassle/work.
P.S: I've been in many a match now in frontlines where you instantly get attacked as soon as you spawn in by idiots with pans, spamming foppish voicelines. It's bloody annoying.
Just out of interest, where do people keep plucking the idea that this is a "medieval european" slasher game from? I don't see it mentioned anywhere on the kickstarter campaign or the steam store page, or on the official homepage of Mordhau.
The medieval era spanned over many 100's of years, which includes a lot of different locations for warfare, a lot of different warriors of various ethnicities - & probably even gender. Moors for example in regards to non-white warriors, then of course you have the vikings, though apparently shield maidens actually existing seems to be in question (after a bit of googling), though many women (not necessarily as knights) participated in warfare in some form or other during the medieval ages.
For me it was the opposite. I just had a lot of fun during the first x hours regardless of how badly I was playing. Now though, I enjoy it less because I keep seeing things that irritate me, such as: bugs/balancing issues, or ending up in a server full of sheids/spear users, friendly players that randonly attack you when you spawn in, idiot players that constantly spam voice lines one after the other, or players that move like contortion artists - such as last night... one player was moving really weirdly, long drags & morphs, but the way he moved was like stop motion, as his head/body seemed to snap from one position to another with no transition. Completely fucked with my head.
In regards to destroying team ballistas, one of the fixed ones in the Taiga map really needs destroying. The one near blue spawn is so stupid as it's easy enough for the reds to claim it & then they snipe at people coming out of the caves that cross the first objective point. I'll admit that I've destroyed that fixed ballista a few times whenever I've found & killed the enemy player that was using it.

For me the solution is as simple as:
Don't want to read toxic/racist/sexist/whatever stuff in chat, then mute people or hide the chat.
A report system would be nice to report overly toxic players & trolls, & after x reports the player gets looked into. Recordings/screenshots as evidence would probably be needed.
Having the ability to actually scroll the score board & right click on players to issue a report/initiate a votekick would make things a whole lot simpler.
The voteklck message should be hidden from the person who is getting votekicked or at least the name of the person issuing the votekick should not be shown - though a reason message would be nice.
@NikolaiLudovik based on how people are acting here & responding to not wanting x or y in the game because it will spoil their immersion or some shite, it probably will happen - even if it's just for the memes or whatever other reason.
Me, I don't care if they put men, women, dwarfs, furries, or different ethnicities into the game. I'm playing for the gameplay, not to go around getting people to do twirls so I can inspect their character/cosmetic choices. Who has the time to give two fucks about what the other players that are trying to hack you to pieces or cave your head in looks/sounds like? Having said that, I would really really appreciate it if the devs could put the character voice over lines on a separate volume channel so that we can turn those down or mute them entirely as I'm getting tired of listening to idiots constantly spamming voice lines or the battlecry one after the other throughout the entire match.
The trailer probably helped. It makes it look like you can be a one man army taking on multiple opponents at the same time like you are the bloody batman or something. It makes everything look easy, but in reality all the things it shows in the trailer take time & practice, so it's possible a bunch of people bought the game because of the trailer or reviews they read/watched & then found out that the game is a lot more difficult than they thought it would be.
Yeah I do agree that some new modes & content will certainly help bring some of the players back - even if for a short while. A free weekend (at some point in the future) would also help bring in some new players & maybe some might even buy the game too, but only the future can really tell how the game will do, as it's not been out long enough to find its core playerbase that will play the game until it dies.

A lot of people that bought Mordhau - myself included - were probably impulse buys. Looks fun, but didn't turn out to be what they expected, which is often the case with pre-orders/impulse purchases.
Some might come back for a peek as additional content is added, some might not as it will depend on whether or not they enjoyed the game at all, because let's face it... fps melee games are just not everyones cup of tea.
Aye I can imagine. I will probably get another monitor at some point, as this one is getting on in years & has a few small issues. To save money though I will probably just get another 24" 60hz monitor, as I'm a bit cheap like that.
The monitor doesn't even need to be an IPS one as I use a desk mounted monitor arm thing which allows me to adjust the height/angle/position of it - very useful.

If you don't want to see/read toxic/racist things in the chat, then the solution is simple, just hide the chat box. Out of sight, out of mind. Actually just go ahead & hide the kill feed & the killed by boxes too. The game is much less distracting & much more enjoyable with all 3 things turned off.
Now, potential issue/toxic/racist behaviour you probably won't be able to ignore are players on your team or the enemy team that decide to single you out, for how your character looks or for what gender you decide to play as.
Trolls will be trolls, toxic players will be toxic, & as evidenced in other multiplayer games made by triple-A & indie studios alike, it's hard to completely irradicate toxic behaviour in games because those kind of players will just come up with inventive ways to get around whatever system is in place.
@Monsteri all good & well saying "go intel", but a decent custom intel build costs money - compared to amd anyway. I would be saving about €200 if I go with the ryzen 2700x instead of i7 7700k, which would leave me with a bit of extra money to put towards getting 32GB RAM instead of 16GB & would still cost less than me upgrading to i7; regardless of how much more I'd prefer to upgrade to intel instead.
Either way ryzen 2700x will be a massive boost compared to my fx 8350 & considering my fx 8350 can still run most games on medium to high settings @ 1080p (60fps), I think it should be enough to last me a couple of years before I need to upgrade again.

Cheers for the config settings. In regards to Nvidia cards, I don't have that kind of money floating about. My current card was a gift. It's more than enough for 1080p 60fps as I use a 60hz 24" monitor anyway for playing pretty much any game on medium to high settings. The cpu on the other hand is just not good enough for certain games - especially if those games require better single core performance than multi-core. Intel cpu are much better in regards to single core performance, though I think Ryzen series is getting closer to bridging the gap between amd & intel.
I've changed a few things in the ini file. I did forget to turn ambient occlusion off - could have been impacting my fps a bit. Thing is that the game then looks a bit too bright. I guess I'll just have to mess with the gamma a bit until it doesn't irritate my eyes.
The optimization polish is insanely good. My 5 year old AMD FX processor is doing great.
Really? I'm having some bottleneck issues with my FX 8350 (not overclocked). RX 480 (8GB), 16GB RAM, medium to low settings, random drops to about 30fps. Mostly only on 64 player servers - especially when firebombs are going off everywhere or lots of people are clumped together in the same area. It's running pretty good (60fps - locked with vsync disabled) on other modes & lower player count servers.
I guess it's irrelevant as I plan on upgrading from FX to Ryzen at some point this year.

I'm not keen on using shields. Buckler is ok, but I find it to be a complete waste of points. The large shields, I dislike because of limited visibility while blocking & also because whenever multiple people start charging at me, I tend to start walking backwards while keeping hold of the block button. Passive directional block would work much better, with some kind of shield bash/parry to knock back attackers. If they worked more like that, then I might consider using them.
As for bloodlust... I also think it's a bit too powerful, & I use it myself for a bunch of different builds. Even if it only restored say 25% of your total health, that would still be beneficial in 1vX situations in the right hands. Or alternatively a perk similar to second wind, that restores a tiny amount of health - let's say 10hp when you successfully damage an enemy player would make a nice perk.

Yeah, the feints & drags get me a lot of the time as well. I don't know if I have a hard time reading them because my ping isn't great to begin with or because it's constantly spiking up & down, or because I just suck at the game, but either way...
@alonesilverwolf I'm also looking forward to the FF7 remake. Hopefully they do it justice & it isn't a complete mess - though that's not saying much considering how the original could essentially be compared to a patchwork quilt in terms of graphics, story, & writing. Despite that I played the hell out of the game multiple times when I was younger - it's one of my favorite rpg games. For me it's a toss up between that & Chrono Trigger (snes or nds version).
