tl;dr

Fists are kinda memey wouldn't necessarily mind some item specifically for brawlers to be able to parry attacks though.

Without fixing the base issue, of them being able to camp in a corner, this would just make them impossible to kill as they heal up off any of the two or three stragglers that come in.

If the King/Warden was forced to move to a different area, some kind of timer where they start losing health for staying too long, I dunno, call it "inspiring the men" or something, sure. As it stands now that would just make Grad even more ridiculous.

I like it

I just want the devs to ask what the community likes and doesn’t like. Half the reason for negativity is just because it all seems so obvious to a bystander.

Of COURSE this is dumb, how did they not notice?
Because there’s like 3 of them. And their silence makes them appear incompetent rather than just overwhelmed. They’re clearly not incompetent but they could really just do some community Q&A to clear up a lot of the fog.

Silence = incompetence now? That’s a bold assumption when there are many timeless sayings that insinuate the opposite. Also a lot of studies correlating silence w intelligence. Just sayin.

First off.
What?

Second.
WHAT?

Re read my post. Also, third. Understand how and why intelligent people tend to be stoics, rather than assuming everyone who sits in a corner is secretly a genius. 63996694533.jpg

I wish this game increased the hits to kill by 1 for pretty much all weapons/armor.

93 109

The king just got one shot by a catapult on Grad.

Ayy lmao.

93 109

Footsteps are still nonexistent. And horse audio is still a mix between 100m away and vaguely 30m away, there's no audio level difference between a horse 30m from you and 10m from you.

93 109

Also holy SHIT was it stupid to give Red catapult on Camp. Like what? They're defending! The guy on Catapult is completely impregnable from attack. Every game they rack up so many kills because they can just camp the spawn ALL GAME. Like did you not playtest this?

No no no this is horrible. Beyond horrible even.

I love Camp on Frontline. But Camp on Invasion is completely garbage to play as Blue.

93 109

It's way too hard for the defenders to hold out for 15 minutes. Defend the X objectives at the start are actually just impossible. Attackers can usually kill 20-30% before you ever meet in combat, and you don't even need to do 100% of the kill the peasants/burn the farms to progress.

I really only see attackers win, except once on Grad when Blue played Minecraft and walled in the King with like 6 engineers.

93 109

Well, I agree Invasion isn't the most fantastical thing.
But why would you expect any of that? There was no information from the team that it would have any such mechanics.

93 109

The push objectives are way too attacker biased. I personally just would go the TF2 route and have rollback checkpoints however.

93 109

No fuck all of you horses are a terrible addition to this game and the worse they are the better.

Did you ever hear the Tragedy of Mordhau the indie? I thought not. It's not a story the Chivalry vets would tell you. It's an alt right legend. Mordhau was created by a bunch of tryhards, so powerful and so into minmaxing they could use the Turncap to influence the hit detection to destroy noobs... They had such a knowledge of the mechanics that they could even hit through parries. The dark side of gaming is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unfair. They became so powerful... the only thing they were afraid of was losing was their reputation, which eventually, of course, they did. Unfortunately, they taught their PR everything they knew, which was nothing. It's ironic he could save teammates from a horse, but not themselves from brony game reviewers.

I have to disagree with you. Although I'm of the opinion Mordhau's base combat system is itself at fault.

Shields are overpowered because they negate morphs/feints/drags and sorta accels. Why is that a problem?
Because that's the only way you'll ever land a hit normally.
Why is that?
Because parrying is way too strong with extremely generous block angles and mechanics like combo to parry to have your blade teleport in front of you. And no actual momentum mechanic worth the name. Though I can hardly fault them for that.
So the base issue is high level Mordhau combat is basically just cheesing the shit out of your opponent so he doesn't have any clue what you're actually doing. Which means that the addition of shields just takes that whole dealio away.

Which then means that assuming equal skill and a shield user that is familiar with all the anti shield techniques, you just end up having a stamina war. But instead of addressing any underlying issues or removing shields from duels since they're just not mechanically in line with duels, they uh. Make them terrible.

I think just having held block drain more stamina is a nice patch because I highly doubt combat will be reworked anytime soon. It still devolves it into a stam war, but one that the shield user will lose if they can't read/guess what their zwei wielding opponent is doing. While at the same time if they CAN read that, they can survive without being at any more of a disadvantage than having a reach deficit already does. Shields giving you a safety net that eventually runs out versus a quad feinting maul user isn't the most big brane thing in the world but I think it'd be better than the past and present iterations of shields.

93 109

Feelings on the patch.

Netcode is fucked again. Randomly jumping between 60 and 300 ping. Was stable before. Also, I think the game lies about the ping anyways. Either that or it doesn't register my parries, but there's no way I only have 50-60 ping OR sometimes parries/ripostes/general attacks just don't get registered by the game. One of the two.

Horses shouldn't be able to cap points while moving. They can driveby neutralize a point, not even capture it, but rather just to keep people from spawning. Most noticeable on Grad and Mountain due to spawns not particularly close to the point with little incentive for red to be on their point unless they're forced onto the defense.

Horse receiving damage just doesn't work sometimes. I can hit a horseman at full gallop and they take normal damage.

Shields are so bad now it's hilarious. Just remove them if you can't balance them this "hotfix" makes them worse than just wielding a Bastard Sword in one hand.

Crossroads is a lot better now but it still feels red biased due to spawn locations for the mortar, which is ridiculously hard for blue to retake because of said mortar. But in general the two middle point system is MASSIVELY superior to the other maps in flow and fairness.

Mountain and Taiga are still imbalanced lmao why even bother maps the outcome is decided 90% of the time in both cases by the color you pick. The 10% of the time a bunch of good people decide they wanna try to carry but just end up steamrolling in the opposite direction.

Grad is still the most blue biased map that Red still wins regularly in the game. Everything about the map is Blue favored except the last point, which is still harder for Red to take out than it is for Blue to take out theirs. Blue gets two ballistae, high ground, endless chokepoints, actually usable defensive walls that block traffic unlike reds that do absolutely nothing to even slow Blue down, but the catapult is both easier for Blue to use and because they ALWAYS capture the Stables first, due to massively closer spawn distance, they even have easier access to the catapult. The Catapult is only useful for Red on taking the stables, it has no good firing angles for the castle or smithery. And yet Red still wins regularly. Funny that.

Great idea

So I didn't particularly like shields before, but seeing them get absolutely gutted because the devs have no real idea how to make them work currently isn't really much better, in my opinion. So I have a suggestion to fix shields to make them, well, perfectly usable without being retarded as hell like they were on launch.

Parry blocking has good stamina negation, same as anything else really.
Hold blocking (aka keeping the shield up for longer than the standard parry window) reduces the stamina negation until the shield is lowered again. Boom. I fixed it. Held block just reduces stamina negation from like, 12/13 to 10/11.

Slowing shield users to a crawl and make shields objectively worse than just holding a one handed weapon isn't a solution, it's just effectively removing them from the game. They were already pretty trash with their whole hit through them if you swing wacky enough shit like you could do with jump stabs or just dragging harder than that guy who's 1-12-7 with a rake, now they're just worse than not using them at all. Outside of the rare instance of having an archer shooting at you I guess.

Noticing that horses are still one shotting even after being slowed, and riders not being one shot despite moving at full speed. I assume the riders might release the forward button as they're getting hit or something, because that's the only logical reason I can explain how I can hit a galloping horse rider in a full sprint and not one shot him.

Also horses can speed up while next to someone, who's technically "inside" the horse, which does a damage bump, even if the horse was stopped at a standstill.
