That video is just a gimmick!

Which Video is "just a Gimmick"? The one of Skallagrim's Longsword Competition? If you think that then sorry but that is as close as your gonna get without going into the Realms of Full Contact Sparring. Usually done in Plate Armor and Blunted Weapons, Sparer's must drastically reduce their Swing Force to avoid severe injury to the opponent and usually outlaws head strikes.

Nothing realistic about that cazzy. Just plain stupid game design mistakes. Nerf Marox to get your playerbase back.
OR watch your game die slowly no problem. Maul mains are SHIT and LOW skilled. U hear that?

Um... yes it is Realistic. Taking a 10lb Chunk of Metal to your Skull is gonna kill you.

My head hit heavier things already. Metal H beams, Buildings, Roads and rocks.

Hitting your Head accidentally and Gettign Hit with the Intention to Kill are 2 totally different forces Principle. I'm not calling you a Liar, but I do know what I'm talking about. Plus even if you don't die from a hit like that your gonna be dealing with Serious Effects, The BRain Damage alone must be horrendous

These are the things I've noticed that don't help with the game's Lackluster Community:

-Can't talk about the Real Life side of things cause "Just a Game Bruh who cares about Realism"
-Can't talk about Women in Mordhau without (Contrary to last point) "Nah that would be just the last straw that would completely break my Immersion/Realism"

(Yes, those are 2 Very Real things that happen on these very forums frequently)

-Over-Abundance of Meme Avatars
-Weapon Balancing being a bit skewed
-Maul, Cleaver and Zwiel "Beserkers"
-Salty Duelers

There are many more but those are off the top of my head.

Most games are shooting games, where you shoot at player's from distance and may not even read their names or recognize them as you kill or get killed... It's not personal at all. You prolly only get angry at really good snipers or campers.

But Mordhau is very personal, you get in people's faces and beat the living shit out of each other. You might get out numbered or targeted for your talent or unique playstyle. You definitely recognize players's names and you may even recognize them if they change their names, due to their unique playstyle.

I'ts much easier to get angry or feel targeted in Mordhau than most other games.

That and the fact there is little to no Moderation for the Chat In-Game or in these very Forums. I use a Forum User called 'ToLazy4Name" as a example, he is currently Suspended. But if you look at his Post History he gets VERY toxic. Sometimes he got to the point he was making literal Threats and then he bitched when the Mods Suspended him. Yah no joke, he basically made a Threat so a Mod suspended him for like a few days, when he comes back his bitches at a older Mod saying "That newer Mod is an Idiot does he not understand these Forums" and basically got his Suspention removed. Well eventually he made another Threat and (to my knowledge) is permanently suspended

I personally love practising and sparring with soft weapons, they are very underrated. They bring new interesting angles and dynamics to fighting.
People think they need a lot of skill to learn and ten times more to apply in combat, but from my experience, if you stick to basics you can start using and applying them fairly soon, especially if you have practice implements that are safe for you and people you may practice with.

When I trained with soft knives I had trouble parrying reliably because the weapon would just give way. Admittedly they were of the DIY kind and maybe not optimal - but if they had been harder and stiffer they could have hurt eyes and throat.

How is your experience with that? Do you only use soft materials for flail heads which you wouldn't use for parries anyway? Or do you combine padded weapons with protective gear?

While I usually assume you're a Troll I'll bite. We (My local HEMA group) use one of 2 things for Sparring, Hard Foam Weapons That can still allow Parries at the Cost of a nice Bruise if you strike hard enough, or Blunted Metal Blades along with a Thick Layer of Padding and a Helm. This allows us to Spar and Practice and still feel the Effect of the Weapon's on each other. I personally have a Longsword for the 2nd Style, it and a Blunted but Strengthened Blade Varient are my first and Main Practice Blades. I keep the Sharp one for Cutting Practices and Competitions.

I can link a Video of the Second Variation from a Youtuber called Skallagrim and his experiences in the Competition side of this:

They have real issues and you complain about the inconvenience of not knowing whether to call them he, she or they. ;)

Thinkink that "youre trapping in the wrong body" is obviously the mental illnes you mentally challenged retard xD

On the subject of self defense yeah it's pretty damn unlikely that a sword will come in handy but it is better than nothing I could be half swords and used as a leaver or for stabbing, people have an aversion to getting stabbed anyway

So as unlikely it is ,it's better than nothing, especially in places that ban firearms ...

And as humble staff says there are tornaments for cutting Matts and it's a skill all to itself that takes proper practice much like target shooting

And messing around I do mean just what humble says , hitting various things like bottles and other stuff just for fun , just like target shooting at the range

Well also remember cutting Bottles is a Cheaper Alternative and it gives you a Visual for how well you cut. Cut at even the Slightest angle and you not only can visually see but feel the Cut Drag itself and not be a Clean Cut. I do have Blunts and I do have a Dummy I practice those with. It's for fun and Sport and I would NEVER try it as a Party Trick. Just as you treat all guns like they are Loaded you treat a Sword like it's Sharp enough to cut through Steel.

Also I am not gonna use a Sword for Home Defense... I have a 9mm 1911 and a 20 Gauge Shotgun for that purpose.

You have reminded me of the one weapon I hope never gets added. The Flail. It is in my honest opinion the most over-appreciated and impractical Medieval Weapon

That's weird, i've hardly seen them depicted anywhere, most of the time is in very unrealistic ways like that one ridiculous flail from one of the Nazghuls in LotR.
I can only think of For Shit uh i mean For honor and Battle Brothers. In Battle Brothers (awesome game btw, i can't recomend it enough) it's just another weapon type with its own pros and cons, blends gameplay and real life very well.
Btw have you ever handled a flail irl may i ask? because i have and they are not nearly as impractical and dangerous to yourself as people make it out to be.

Yah those are the ones I'm talking about. Movies like those made the... for lack of better term, "Ill-Informed Idiots"... to believe the Flail was so common. Which makes me personally wonder, they went through tones of pains on the Historical Accuracy (to a point) on most things that why give the Nazguls a Flail other then "Lol looks cool"?

Yea i have seen that video, it's probably the only video of Shad's entire channel that i didn't give a like because i think he overstates the disadvantages of a flail and makes it factually look like a bad weapon.
The problem i see with most youtubers/influencers, martial art practitioners and medieval enthusiasts when talking about flails is the extreme lack of experience around the damn thing. They never used one, never trained with one and/or have only seen them -most often badly represented- in popular media. There's simply an enourmous lack of testing and exposure to the weapon.
The flail is just a weapon like any other, has pros and cons. Yes the flexible nature can be a danger to the user IF the user is untrained. That can be overcome easily and quickly by basic training and practice.

This one is a video of someone who's not very good a using the flail, it's probably one of the first times he is using the weapon. You see him use it kinda like a nunchuk, making it dart from a static position and making it stop suddenly. Especially in horizontal, you can clearly see how it would whip him in the left side of his body many times through the video. And due to the lack of familiarity with the weapon he can't use the shield in conjuction with it. The only good exchange he does is the last one, where he closes the distance and keeps himself covered from the longsword with the shield while whiping the oponent with the flail and following through.

Those two are videos of someone with a good handling of the flail, he keeps it moving in circular motions almost all the time, going along with the momentum. You can even see the flail wielder giving it good use even in very close range, clinching range even, where shad suposed it would be too dangerous to wield.
In the entirety of both sparring videos, he only slightly whips himself on a foot once (near the end of the second video). Something that can be ignored if wearing any degree of armor.

Never looked at it that way, I actually contacted my Local HEMA Instructor and asked if I could poke his brain and try them out myself so hopefully this weekend I can actually have some Hands on experience with it. I'm always interested in this and it's nice to see I was misinformed about the Flail and glad you provided different sources. I will share my experiences with the flail come saturday

Battle ready. Not even lazy is battle ready and he has ballistic body armor and at least one semi-automatic rifle.

Honestly there is no reason to keep a sharp sword at home. If you want your HEMA training to be taken seriously, telling awe-inspiring tales of the devastating deadliness of fantasy hammers and bragging about fondling with health hazards is not the way to achieve that.

There is a reason to have sharps at home , they are cool in some people opinion

Others have them for cutting Matt's and such for cutting competitions is another reason to keep sharps at home aswell

Im planning on getting a sharp poleax why? Because I like collecting things of the like and somtimes I like to just mess around with them for fun ,

Another reason for it is because I appreciate the history behind arms and armor and love seeing historical technique be brought back to life , even if it's only good for sport in modern day.

No reason to get condescending about people's
hobbies

It's just like saying there's no reason to play video games using the same argument and such

Just ignore him he's a Troll. But thank you, I shoulde post some Pics of my Collection. It's actually really nice but the Handle needs a Fix as the Leather Wrapping got damaged when I was training with Plate Gauntlets. It's fun to know how to fight with them as Ammunition isn't always gonna be around. Plus it's fun. I'm allowed to have a Battle Ready Sword cause I wanted one. I just ignore that dude he isn't worth the time nor brainpower to dispute

Then feel free to go like my recent post about them that I did while giving my meat a break from Pornhub premium!
It doesn't guarantee that the devs will look at the post and would consider any of my suggestions but It would patch my fragile self esteem and maybe spare me an appointment with my therapist! :)

I don't mind if people want a Flail, I just won't use it personally if gets added. I do not loke Flails and I think they are Over-Appreciated.

As for how the system works, it's based on MMR. You derank on loss, and rank up on victory. It'll make more sense once you get your placement.

While I think the Jump Kick makes anyone both In-Game and Real Life look incredibly stupid and doesn't make sense, how is it a Losing Strategy if I may ask?

Because he kept using it even after you were consistently countering it.

That's why I am so unsure if I deserved that Win. You would think once it's clear the Opponent know's your Strat you'd figure something else out. Grant it this did teach me what to look for when someone is attempting those Retarded Jump-Kicks but I just feel like I didn't deserve that win.

I have over 3 Years of HEMA under my belt.

I too had a very interesting career in the military and CIA. It all started when I was 16 years old. Due to my martial arts prowess, I was recruited by the U.S. Navy and flew M1 Abrams tanks off carriers for them. I served in the same squadron with Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and Flash Gordon (he was best man at my wedding to Miss Saigon). I even went to Top Gun School with Tom and Val and won the Trophy. My Tank racked up more kills than all the other tanks in my Squadron, combined. Later on, my Squadron CO accused me of being TOO aggressive. So I had to knock him out with a spinning Flying Squirrel kick to the balls. Needless to say, I spent some time in the brig where the guards made us prisoners fight in Kumite style Death Matches which they took bets on. The guards would host the matches and secretly bring in VIPs from high levels of govt and industry. Some of the people who watched me fight were the President of the United States, the VP, Secretary of Defense, Senators, Congressmen, Pat Sajack from Wheel of Fortune, and the manager of the Waffle House. After executing several hundred prisoners, it was determined that I was too deadly to be kept in the brig so I was transferred over to the U.S. Coast Guard where I flew B-2 Stealth Bombers because they were short pilots and bombardiers. I never needed a bombardier on my crew because I can use my Chi to guide bombs to the target with pinpoint accuracy. After single handedly destroying an entire Afghan city full of Taliban Buddhists, I was recruited by the CIA. I can't talk much about what I did for the CIA, but let's just say I have more confirmed kills than ALL OTHER CIA Agents, Army SEALs, Navy Delta Forces, Air Force Recon, and Marine Corps Para Rescue... COMBINED. Due to my amazing prowess in the field, the Director of the CIA personally selected me to become the youngest ever, and one of only 12 Pokemon trainers in the entire CIA. You gotta a catch 'em all.... that's what I did. Due to the extremely high classification of the project and need for absolute secrecy, our Base of Operations was the Psych Ward at Bethesda Naval Hospital. It was there that I became familiar with prison type/suicide watch operations. Consequently, my final classified mission was coordinating with British MI6, the Royal Family, and Hillary Clinton to help out my and Hillary's good friend Jeffrey Epstein with his assisted suicide.... Since retiring, the CIA has been nice enough to provide housing for me at the Greenview Psychiatric Hospital. Because there have been multiple attempts on my life by Russian Spetznatz, Yakuza Ninja, and Sub-Saharan Oompa-Loompa commandos; they've also provided me with a substantial guard detail while I write my memoirs. My publisher is already in negotiations with Disney and it looks like we're well on our way to my life story becoming part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe....whatever the hell that is.... Bottom line is, there are a lot of people out there who pretend to be something they're not. Everything in my life story is 100% factual. I know because I lived it. People like Dux, Steven Segal, Van Damnit, Stallone, the Power Rangers (briefly served with them too), the Teletubbies, Derek Zoolander...these are all great Patriotic Americans but at the end of the day when you compare their on or off-screen achievements to mine.... I simply make them all look like sopping wet, velvet-lined pussies.... Not bragging... Just stating fact....

Well as I have said before, I understand it's a game and Realism is something that has to take Second Chair. But naturally I am no expert on the Game and thus most I can do is offer my Opinion and point out how stuff Realistically works as I have over 3 Years of HEMA under my belt.

But I do think Flails shouldn't be added. I think they are Impractical as Jump-Kicking. If they do get added, fine. I just won't use them.

But I hope the game helps curb the "Meme Characters". Does get annoying when you go to a Match and there's this dude with a face that even a Mother couldn't love while wearing his Undies and just a Maul. Not saying Meme Characters are bad, but in abundance does get a little annoying.

He just learned to drag and he's all proud now.
Besides, what difference would it make if I dragged my cleaver? (:
Would that be a good play, me becoming famous for my cleaver drags?
Or will they remain unnoticed?
Drags become more of a thing if you use ridiculously slow weapons like said maul mentioned here and there.

But, I can calm you. Almost every other game I know is also catering to idiots and I think without idiots there's no money to be made.
GTA V has flying bikes that shoot rockets, which is more or less equivalent to what experienced maul user does to noobs in frontline.
CS:GO has an AWP.

Or any of the recent Fallout Games under Bethesda's Management removing the Classic RPG Elements that made them famous. Hell, Skills and Character Limitations are one thing, but removal of Choices and Concequences of that choice? It's why I personally consider Fallout 4 and that Abomination Fallout 76 a "Shooter with Character Creation"

Nah. Too slow. With a relaxed posture I would just get pushed away. And because it is so slow, I would probably not even get a concussion. It's a joke weapon. Side-swings and stabs shouldn't do any damage at all. Simple physics aside, the fact that it was historically never used in combat might give you a hint about how useful it really is. About as useful as giant anime swords.

Just gonna File you as a Troll, since I don't believe you are that stupid to not know how Momentum and Inertia works, plus what happens when a giant metal object meets your Skull

Just had to share this cause it was both Humerous and Confusing to me.

So first off I lost like the first 4 Rounds, out of those 4 Rounds I killed a guy once, I don't think it was Skill I personally know my Skill and say I just got Lucky and most of the time I was Out-Skilled. So come to my surprise my 5th time running Ranked and I'm facing some All T3 Plate Armored (Footsoldier) Guy wielding just a Heavy Hand Axe. I am in my "Crusader" armor (All T2 Chainmail stuff with a T3 Helm and a Longsword). So I'm expecting to lose... but to my surprise... dude fell to my blade. I was so shocked. Next Fight began and he came charging, but I picked up on something he did in that first Bout... he did a lot of Jump Kicking. Dude almost Specifically used it with Combination of Feint Stabs (You're using a Axe why even Stab). So to my surprise I felled him 3 times in a Row without him taking me out. he then took me out twice due to me getting to close to the Pillars and Sword hitting them. But for the most part I just waited till I see his Knight begin that Jump Animation and Swung with me rarely taking Damage. He gifted me first ever Victory in Ranked. But I couldn't tell if I just got someone who was Over-Confident or if I genuinely Out-Skilled them. Any advice in this Subject

How does Match Win/Lose work btw? I lose... yet you progress me through the Ranks? I'm stull Unranked at 5 Things if that helps.
