Did you watch the video slow motion?

I did and there is a problem there, most likely server related though.

Well but Moorish equipment is not in the game yet.

Nobody would feel darker skin tones were out of place if it was added with Moorish equipment and also some Arabian and Castillian stuff that would have a theme.

Upcoming maps have Spanish/Portugese names so it would actually be nice if they added all together in the future.

Mount&blade had female characters and the world didn't end.

Mount and Blade had females and 95% of the time they were used as naked with names like Daenerys.

I am not against it but do not act like it will have a positive impact in the game.

Yeah dude complain about THAT in the same game where u can cosplay as shrek and run around naked with a pan.

Jesus fucking christ

I do not like that too.

If you do not see the correlation between Steam users and potential buyers it is just pointless to discuss.

Anyway right now Warband has more players playing than Mordhau. I do not think it is doing worse than Mordhau if you consider that it is a 10 year old game with outdated graphics.

I've already made a post elsewhere giving statistical comparisons which demonstrate that mordhau is doing far better than it's predecessors chivalry, mirage, and warband.

Warband has less players yes, but over the years its playerbase has only increased.

https://steamcharts.com/app/48700

Also Steam itself is a lot bigger right now compared to the time when chiv and warband were released

Not sure what you had in mine as a 'deeper interesting team game mode'

I mean a team game mode that would include decision making in a deeper level.

It could be multiple objectives to be defended that would require careful splitting, it could be side objectives with weapon rewards. It can be something like buying weapons like CS every round.

Whilst there are no proper modes yet, the competitive scene does 2v2 - 5v5 skirmishes and 6v6 or 8v8 frontline games. Largely organised on a couple of discord servers and clan servers. Highly recommend getting involved if that potentially interests you rather than sticking to what is ingame and you fancy something new. Also, you certainly won't find comp play laughably easy ;)

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think it is hard to find a clan without "ranks" and very strict schedules. That is why me and I think many other people are not interested in them very much. That is why I suggested it as an official mode.

I disagree, Mordhau is not hard as you think it is. Compared to other games I play, I find the pub games (where majority of the players are) laughably easy.

What the game lacks is just incentive to improve and keep playing. A deeper interesting team game mode with small size like 6v6 would go long way to make the game better, I believe.

I want to keep playing because the core mechanics are really fun, but they are all there is.

This is an online competitive game.

You think going for the favored team in pub games make you competitive?

That is just sad.

I don’t know man I’d have to disagree with you on a couple things.

Taiga - I’d say this map is pretty fuckin close to even after the change. If it is favored for blue it’s nothing too major that a halfway decent red team can’t over come.

Mountain peak - for the love of god ALWAYS pick blue unless youre some kind of sick masochist. No argument there.

Camp - again, pretty damn balanced map other than the fuckin trebs that spontaneously explode you. No arguments there.

Grad - The map feels very balanced but from my personal experience I tend to go blue on this map. Most of my matches on grad have been blue wins.

And now we’ve come to everyone’s FAVORITE map. CROSSROADS This heaping pile of human dung should have never seen the light of day and instead stayed within the warm confines of the asshole who subsequently diarrhead this all over the the poor and unsuspecting player base.

“Hey, you know what people like? Choke points! And fire bombs! Choke points AND firebombs!” “You know what else people like? Horses! I think the more horses we add, the more people will love us! This is going to be great!”

But yes... crossroads is heavily red favored...

What kind of mentality is always going for the favored team?

Also Mountatin peak is blue favored because of the spawn points in the third objective for the blue.

Yeah, the Frankfurt servers I checked were located in France. Still servers have high ping and packet loss even for its true location.

I don't play frontline, but I still recognise that they have made improvements to that gamemode. It's not all about you.

This is the problem you don't play it so you don't know how bad it is. Frontline has not been improved, and 64p servers, javelins and Crossroads have only made it worse. Right now unless you want to duel and scrim this game has not much to offer. Note that these two are not even proper game modes in the game.

The three main modes when you open the game:

Frontline:
It is just a high ping low fps firebomb, shield javelin fest with no meaningful objectives or player contributions. Also includes the thing called Crossroads as map.

Battle Royale:
People team freely. Spawn and chest placements make it an RNG fest even more than other Battle Royales

Horde:
The game basicly forces you to camp towers with bows or make one mistake and watch other people camping towers for ten minutes.

I don't understand all this talk about shields not being useful. It blocking ranged attacks should be more than enough reason for it to be useful. But not only it does that, it gives you an option to ignore 90% percent of the game mechanics while defending and using them while attacking. It somehow even gives you a riposte.
In frontline, 4-6 friends joining a game with shields shuts down all the enjoyment of the game for me and it happens more and more often lately.

I would rot in hell rather than getting hit constantly by friendly or stolen ballista in grad and taiga blue.
Now that I think of it all the ballistae except for the on for red on camp should not exist.

Disabling team damage on ballista is a terrible idea. Destroying the ballista is the only way to stop a teammate griefing with the ballista.
There are many griefing problems in the game that requires a solution, but the proposed solution would only make things worse.

This much of Chivalry lore was enough tbh:

There is a kingdom
One side is loyal to the king of that kingdom
The other party wants to topple the old system. Malric is in this one.

It was Team Objective which gave fighting in Chiv a structure. You were fighting to accomplish things, they were kinda-sorta sometimes related to lore, but nobody really cared, because accomplishing these things was fun in itself. You needed to do a thing and to do it you had to beat motherfuckers up along the way. If you weren't beating motherfuckers up hard enough, you lost. Simple. Fun.

You can't even call Frontline a TDM because racking up kills means absolutely nothing if you don't control more points. The mode is just waiting for one of two countdowns to run down and you are free to run around and kill some enemies in huge clusterfucks in the meantime.

This comment is in line with the issues we believe are the root of the problem/dissatisfaction. It's no surprise we spent a long time on the combat and other things around it, that we ended up being a bit short on time when it came to giving the game modes the same treatment. In the end, we did what we could to salvage things by adding some objective support to Frontline under some heavy crunch and shipped it. We thought it'd do well and also we simply couldn't afford for it to not to. Thankfully, it wasn't as bad as it could've been and the game still sold extremely well. But we hear you, and are going to be working to introduce the type of objective-focused mode the community is looking forward to as we go on with development. Sometimes it's hard to hear criticism late in the dev cycle when you're powerless to do anything to fix it, and this was definitely the case leading up to release.

Thanks for the promising response!

Did you even read the original post?

Yeah I agree, the team which has the horse dominance always loses the map in my experience. I even had a game where we entered the winning the team by 300 points margin. Then when we killed most of the enemy riders we started to lose the game as more of our team got horses.

Crossroads is one of the only 5 frontline maps in offical map rotation and its very existence is imo either from incompetence or an insult. I don't understand how so many people are okay with it.

You act like Torn Banner is/was a AAA studio. I played it since the original mod days and its developers were very passionate for their mod which was a non-profit work. They only started to fall after they were overcome by their own success.

I really like Mordhau and they nailed so many things right and I too enjoy it with its flaws. However I just see the same signs that happened to Chivalry here and hope they go a different path.
