Came back after a long break to check what was new but I guess today is not the day : The game keeps crashing.
It happens after I join a server, I can play for about 5 to 10 minutes before it suddenly freezes, forcing me to reboot the computer. my FPS are stable and I usually run mordhau around 55 or 60.

Specs : i5 / GTX 1050 / 16go RAM / SDD / Graphic drivers up to date.

Here's what the logs have to say :

[2020.01.04-20.36.58:923][745]LogD3D11RHI: Timed out while waiting for GPU to catch up. (0.5 s)
[2020.01.04-20.36.59:104][745]LogSlate: Request Window 'MORDHAU ' being destroyed

[EDIT] : Nvm, reinstalling the game and manually getting ride of the files located in C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Mordhau fixed the issue for me.

Shit happens, I lost a couple thousands as well and considering it's just "gold" they probably won't bother to give those 2000 back. Just keep playing the game and you'll be sitting on a bunch of money anyway.

Now, If you don't want to lose gold anymore, I would recommend you to make sure you're not connected to any server before doing your shopping and to buy your stuff on a naked 16/16 mercenary. Worked for me.

I've been using Wifi the whole time, never had problems with Mordhau (It could even handle Star Citizen) until the third patch-ish when the packet loss, timeout ect.. showed up. After 2 months with connections issue I finally resolved myself to get a cheap ethernet cable and it...worked !

Probably not the answer you were expecting but that was the only way to fix my problem. I've been trying all the tweaks I could find on reddit, steamforums, ect.. as well and nothing worked so far.

If you're using an ethernet cable already you can take a look here : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=727946014.

Good luck.

I wasn't really holding my breath when I saw nothing about it in the patch note but still. So yup, the packet loss issue is still there, safe and sound.

if you don't have an unlimited data plan like I do

You don't need a data plan if you are tethering through your own Wifi.

Can you tell me more about it ? The only way I can really think about is using my cellular data to make a wifi hotspot.

Thank you !

I think this guy was the closest to give a real solution in waiting of a patch, nothing else we can really do on our side :

On a fresh Windows install (with a different computer) but on the same network I still get disconnected.

However, if I tether my connection (PC -usb-> phone -wifi-> router) I can play normally. It's almost as if the server could not handle my low ping / high bandwidth. I'm forced to play with 60-80ms but it works.

Now if you don't have an unlimited data plan to rely on your phone connection, you're screwed and you'll have to wait for a real fix coming from the devs. Speaking of them, they definitely know about this issue and they're on it. Thing is, they're usually pretty quiet on the forum, you won't hear from them for a couple of weeks until they release a patch out of nowhere.
That's how they do, better be get used to it.

Nice find sir !
Too bad I don't have an unlimited data plan to rely on, I would have loved to try this out.

I had a similar issue, which was caused by my router. If you have a cheap/old router, especially if you are using wifi, it might not be able to handle the amount of packets produced by Mordhau Frontline. For a comparison, try playing duels, that should be much more manageable

I've been playing for hours on frontline before without any problem (some bugs here and there but no big deal) now it's been basically 2 weeks and I can't stay on a server more than 4 minutes before my connection drops thanks to the packet loss issue.

The question to the devs would be : What has changed after the patch #5 ? What would make a router able to handle the game on friday but obsolete on saturday ? A mystery.

May 21st Game Ban Wave
We have game banned a little over 2000 players today for using 3rd party cheat software at any time since release. This is the first wave of such bans, and the infraction could have occurred at any point since release. Please don't cheat. If you believe your ban was in error and it was, it will be removed. Using things like lute bot and other harmless applications have not caused these bans.

And if you're clean, you should leave a message here : https://mordhau.com/forum/topic/16488/game-banned-for-no-apparent-reason/

I didn't check all the drivertime from the logs but it's more or less accurate considering I'm getting disconnected after 3 or 4 mins :

DriverTime Minutes Seconds min % 3
240.33 4 0.33 0

The common variable I found when I'm losing packets is this line which appears hundred of times in the logs :

LogSkinnedMeshComp: Warning: GetSocketByName(BoltSocket): No SkeletalMesh for Component(SkeletalMeshComponent) Actor(BP_XXX)

"(BP_XXX)" is a different weapon name, BP_Crossbow_C_0, BP_Spear_C_1 ect...)

Sounds like a server side issue, I've been trying to delete most of these BP_ files were to see if that would help, and beside the fact you see unarmed people running, I was still losing the connection 3 or 4 minutes after joining a game.

According to some folks on the Steam forum, there's a weird fix for it, hope it'll help you :

@Steam
Just try to disable the InGame Sound effects. The Game should be run without any packet loss if u disabled Ingame Sounds.

I'm having the same packet loss issue but I haven't try this. Playing without sound is a no-go for me, I'm just gonna wait for the next patch.

If you think about it, that could be considered as alpha testing as well, I'm sure he's probably writting to the devs right now to describe his discovery.

Customization

  • You can't dye the "cloth arms" (white by default, no option to change it) unless if you select an another arm armor with 2 color slots (let's say gambeson long sleeves), pick the colors you want on that one and get the cloth arms back.

If you want to get ride out of the long loading black screen at the start of the game, just go to :
Steam\steamapps\common\Mordhau\Mordhau\Content\Movies and delete (or save it somewhere just in case) the file "UE4_Logo.mp4"

Note : If you try to delete the "LogoSplash.mp4" as well, your main menu will glitch.

Enjoy !
