Just make horses trip over beartraps also. Despite being obviously designed for bears, they work on humans, so I assume they would work on horses also. But that would require making get-up animation for horse, shieeeeeet.

No need to make them fall. Would be enough to slow them down and turn them randomly.

That happens when you force those gamemodes on maps that don't fit the purpose. But many of those invasion missions are just badly designed.

Anyway, that gamemode is a complete disappointment so far and boring as hell. And as long as it's not separated from frontline, I won't bother playing the game again...

Oh yeah... had high expectations for that one, but the trailers were enough already.
At the end, a friend of mine watched the movie alone. And then he complained - for days...

I just watched some videos about the movie design and stuff. That was enough.

Meh. Not sure. Spent so much time doing sidestuff and just fooling around, lost contact with the main story. And I don't play much in general now. Started playing during winter, maybe will continue then...

How did you manage to enjoy that game? Honest question. I'd like that setting but the game just wasn't for me. Did you use turn-based or real time mode? And I read that the balancing was very bad. Did you use a fan patch?

Oh, yes - Arcanum. Thanks for the correction.
To be honest, I never finished it, like so many games of that kind. I just remember that the combat system was really boring after a while and the real-time-mode was rarely playable without it getting too chaotic. Balancing... was ok'ish.
I liked the setting, story and the world, that's what kept it kinda interesting for me despite the many flaws.
Ok... maybe I shouldn't have called it a "good" game. But hey, long ago... ;)

btw: I just noticed that I have another game sitting right here that I stopped playing months ago and now probably won't get into again - Witcher 3. And that's definitely a good game... :(

Well. Thanks for letting us know, I guess...

Also good job with the irony regarding that picture.

Misleading threadtitle.
You aren't asking about how "realistic" people want the game to be, you are merely asking about their preferred historical setting. A different setting wouldn't suddenly make the game "unrealistic".

To answer the question: If those different settings could bring enough stuff to enrich the game - new and unique weapons and items to use, as well as maps with different elements that the European ones don't have - then I would apprechiate some additional settings. But as long as it would just end up as changed visuals - no, thank you.

I like steampunk more as a supporting element to a good story/setting/lore. I wouldn't directly search for stories centered around it, but I've read and watched some nice standalone stories about it, too.
For the most part I know it as story and lore support in games like Final Fantasy, Monster Hunter and so on: Big airships and steaming robots that need rare metals from haunted mines - that always makes for a good story.

Some other games I remember:
Skies of Arcadia was a nice airship game, but the story wasn't very complex or deep...
And Arcanium was a good RPG set in a magic steampunk world.

That's a no-brainer and thus got suggested many times already...

Building finally makes some sense and you want to remove it? That would be stupid...

You have a point of course, tactics like encasing your boss player on Grad into several layers of shields on top of the fortress IS a bit stupid, but those things can easily get fixed with no-building-areas.

Should be separate, indeed - at least as long as the Invasion matches are that laggy...

A playerbase of 5k players is good. Mordhau is a niche-game.

That's true, but bear in mind that the playerbase once looked quite a bit differently and just ended up where it is now because of some quite severe mistakes done by the developement team.
That niche could have been quite a bit bigger by now...

First of all they should try to fix the servers. All those invasion servers are laggy as hell.

Invasion turned out to be pretty much Frontlines with an asymetrical start, so that's a bit meh. Not much difference. I expected siege engines and breaking stuff...
But good to see that modding is on its way.

Now... what about fixing the scoreboard?
And maybe the servers, too, since this all has been horribly laggy again...

The game is pretty much dead and the devs and team are more active on reddit and other places, so it isn't really surprising that this forum is even deader than dead.
And if they now even start banning their core members for some weird nonsense...

Frontline, the core gamemode, like TO in chiv, doesnt really work, because every player can customize like he wants, which is really silly for a FRONTLINE mode. You could have that in FFA or Deathmatch, but in a Frontline every participant should resemble a soldier, so the most natural solution would be to restrict the customization, so that you have to wear certain type of armor on every body part, and cannot equip a certain weapon twice. You already did restrictions in Ranked, do them also in Frontline and this gamemode will greatly improve.

I don't agree with that at all. The customization is what makes things interesting and offers variation. Yes, naked hammer kids look silly, but this is a silly and entirely non-realistic game.

My next point, you future plans for this game, and the current direction your taking, in light of certain recent events are bad. That is as neutral as i can get. You have a very great game, that you made here. Focus on even making it greater. Don't ruin it by adjusting your vision of this game to certain modern standards. I know you planned certain customization options from the start, but they won't enhance your game.

Elaborate. No idea what you are talking about in detail.

PLS consider, every fictional work, regardless of book, movie or game, which is based on a historical time period, has to have certain rules, that adjust to reality, to be believable. If you bend these rules to much, you get bad fiction. Dont turn Mordhau into bad fiction, by adjusting to modern standards, if you go this path, your game will be just another modern game, which will be soon forgotten.

Again, this is a silly non-realistic game, not a simulation. It has absolutely ZERO lore behind it.

So far I don’t think invasion has any exclusive maps yet, its in a very early stage of development. They will most likely use frontline maps first for invasion and I think I remember them mentioning that they are currently testing it on camp.

I hope they take their time with that and do it properly, but I fear it will end up just another improvised and half-assed gamemode.

When the maps become more balanced, the matches will get even longer.

With a fixed and balanced game and with balanced maps (=people having fun), that wouldn't be an issue anymore.

Have you been banned or just kicked from a server?
