Wah

Mordhau has never crashed on me. A few months have passed of you not configuring your setup. If your whole PC crashes then something in the bios is allowing software to do that, not the other way around. Fix your cooling, overclocks or dodgy hardware.

Another evening I can't enter my own server ^_^ sometimes I wish I was enough of an asshole to just reboot it

Or you could setup a scheduled task/cronjob to reboot in the morning. All game servers do that.

Hello, I'm from the mod.io team.
Right now we're focusing on the other distros you mentioned so official out of the box CentOS is not a priority at the moment.
However I also think it would be great that you guys make it work on CentOS and it would be a good step towards full official support. I managed to make mod.io work on CentOS 7.6 by doing the following:

  1. Installing curl-devel: yum install curl-devel
  2. Replacing the libmodio.so with a version I complied specifically for CentOS here: libmodio.so

Basically I recompiled the libmodio.so library with the curl libraries available on CentOS.
This is the full guide of how I did it on a CentOS 7.6 fresh install:
https://github.com/Turupawn/ModioCentos7BuildInstructions

Thanks for letting us know about this issue and will appreciate if you guys keep us posted!

Thanks for reaching out! I've tried the steps above but still get the error below

MordhauServer-Linux-Shipping: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl-gnutls.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Symlinking curl to libcurl-gnutls also shows the same errors as before

/home/steam/mordhau/Mordhau/Binaries/Linux/MordhauServer-Linux-Shipping: /lib64/libcurl-gnutls.so.4: no version information available (required by /home/steam/mordhau/Mordhau/Binaries/Linux/../../Plugins/modio/Source/ThirdParty/mod.io-sdk-v0.11.3-DEV/lib/linux/x64/libmodio.so)

This was on a fresh CentOS 7.6 box, installed curl-devel and placed your libmodio.so into

For everyone having issues, there's a problem with the server creation step that I've made a topic about here https://mordhau.com/forum/topic/19776/latest-server-update-breaks-on-centos-7/#c1
Somewhat out of my control for the moment as I tried to fix it but couldn't.

The latest update for the server files now includes a third party plugin called mod.io which according to their docs is supported on Ubuntu/Debian and Fedora. Since the update, running the mordhau binary gives the error below

/home/steam/mordhau/Mordhau/Binaries/Linux/MordhauServer-Linux-Shipping: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl-gnutls.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've tried rebuilding CURL with gnutls support, symlinking curl to the gnutls path and removing the third party plugin files, all to no avail.
I know curl is a fairly standard linux lib, but the gnutls support that mod.io needs just doesn't seem to be working.

The mordhau server creation dashboard I made relies on CentOS 7, so a lot of people have been messaging about their servers being broken. I went with CentOS because it could handle more players for the same price and it would be a shame if it stopped being supported.

If anyone has any solutions it would be great if you could share them.

  1. Idfk

  2. He turned to his right when it starts the swing so it looks like it's floating, then when you parried he feinted and acceled. He's also doing a circular motion when acceling to throw you off with the jittery swing.

  3. Idk. Low framerate, I'm on my phone, and you looked a bit jittery.

Have you tried omitting the port when using the console to connect? Is this a local machine or a remote one that you have used a VPN to be on the same network? Have you tried connecting from outside of the network? Connecting on LAN has not worked for some people, but works from outside it sometimes. Also why are you creating a local server? Within the console you can create offline matches if that is what you are after.

What are the specs of the server? Are you hosting at home or with a provider and if so which one?

I've been getting this a lot, but I think people don't realize how much better WiFi is than it used to be. The router that is set up at my current residence is not as good as my own router (which is not set up for various reasons), and even still my ping to the router averages less than 1 ms with a maximum of 7 ms and 0% packet loss, and it is capable of supporting more bandwidth than our ISP plan provides (200 mbps).

It may still be better to use Ethernet in a place where your connection to a wireless router is significantly obstructed or there is interference, but with my current setup my wireless connection is practically no different than a wired connection. Especially considering that I am not competing in tournaments or anything, I'll definitely take the convenience of WiFi over a minuscule latency advantage.

Hard for people to help if you're using WiFi though. The amount of people that blame the game for problems when it is likely a misconfiguration on their part. Using wifi is a huge factor.

Update in case anyone else comes across this: Turns out 99% of my network issues with Mordhau occur only on my 5 GHz network. On my 2.4 GHz network, I get a steady 40-50 ms latency with only occasional lag spikes - maybe half a second in duration and occurring only 3-5 times a match at most.

I still have no idea what the underlying issue is here as I don't have issues with other games on the 5 GHz, but I'm absolutely positive it is causing issues with Mordhau.

Why are you even using wifi?

I get why every ones looking at rust as an example but the thing is about that its all time low was 11k players and it never went back to that ever. It is hardly able to be taken as a "dead" era of the game.

Personally I burnt my self out on the game pooring hundreds of hours into a constantly developing world, well worth it but I sometimes give it a re-download, play with friends and dont touch it again for a month.

The difference here is that Rust's all time low took about 11 months, nearly a whole year after launch. Mordhau's decent was being seen in like 2.5 months. Thats what we call a not so pro gamer move.

They're different games though. A survival shooter is inherently going to be more popular than a medieval melee game.

i blame ue4. dog shit venus flytrap of an engine that devs get stuck in for eternity. w0w sick color correction tho

UE4 might not be perfect, but I don't know any other engines with the capabilities and support it has.

@OP My take on this is that if in about 6 - 8 months we don't have a well balanced game and the devs still are fixing issues rather than focusing on content then it's a problem. Take Rust for example, a pretty decent game that's quite popular at the moment. It had the exact same issue Mordhau is having steamcharts wise at the beginning, but now it's a thriving game. Pubg when it launched mainly just fixed issues and then in the last year they've been releasing some awesome updates.

If in the first year things go wrong for Mordhau, it isn't that abnormal.

God I fucking hate Rust. You really need to no-life it to win on vanilla

Yea I never pursued that life but I can appreciate it's a decent game and they still update it a lot.

This would be a quick fix but I don't think it's a long term solution to the problem. I agree though it would really useful and so many things could be done to help incentivise server owners.
I had a go at using cheatengine on the server a while back and was able to change some basic stuff like slomo and read kills/deaths for certain player slots. Finding the null pointer for a UE4 game is probably very difficult though and I was well out of my depth. Probably much easier than reverse engineering the network requests though.

I had a good laugh at reading all your posts. Especially the one about being permanently banned.
Next time someone does this to you, spectate them and see that it isn't all that abnormal, and you are just bad at the game.
