Guys if you ever plan to open a Mordhau Server, or any other gameserver. Just DO NOT rent gameservers from such companies. Go for a dedicated machine, you pay the same like for 1x 64 slots server for a dedicated server where you can run atleast 10x 64 slots servers for the same price.

Don't waste your money...

Would you have any recommendation as to which providers are suitable (verified) for running Mordhau game servers, in Europe?

What would be the technical requirements of such a server, if I want to rent one just for Mordhau?

Would this instruction https://mordhau.com/forum/topic/10250/how-i-got-my-dedicated-server-ot-run-and-appear-on/#c4 be applicable for such a rented server? Could you share some of your experience in that matter, any advice..?

I would recommend Vultr or Digital Ocean. You can host 20 slot servers for $5 - 10. Check out my dashboard thread if you want an easy enough solution, it's free.

O.P here
Few months have passed and the game crashes..
Wah

Mordhau has never crashed on me. A few months have passed of you not configuring your setup. If your whole PC crashes then something in the bios is allowing software to do that, not the other way around. Fix your cooling, overclocks or dodgy hardware.

Have you tried omitting the port when using the console to connect? Is this a local machine or a remote one that you have used a VPN to be on the same network? Have you tried connecting from outside of the network? Connecting on LAN has not worked for some people, but works from outside it sometimes. Also why are you creating a local server? Within the console you can create offline matches if that is what you are after.

What are the specs of the server? Are you hosting at home or with a provider and if so which one?

I've been getting this a lot, but I think people don't realize how much better WiFi is than it used to be. The router that is set up at my current residence is not as good as my own router (which is not set up for various reasons), and even still my ping to the router averages less than 1 ms with a maximum of 7 ms and 0% packet loss, and it is capable of supporting more bandwidth than our ISP plan provides (200 mbps).

It may still be better to use Ethernet in a place where your connection to a wireless router is significantly obstructed or there is interference, but with my current setup my wireless connection is practically no different than a wired connection. Especially considering that I am not competing in tournaments or anything, I'll definitely take the convenience of WiFi over a minuscule latency advantage.

Hard for people to help if you're using WiFi though. The amount of people that blame the game for problems when it is likely a misconfiguration on their part. Using wifi is a huge factor.

Update in case anyone else comes across this: Turns out 99% of my network issues with Mordhau occur only on my 5 GHz network. On my 2.4 GHz network, I get a steady 40-50 ms latency with only occasional lag spikes - maybe half a second in duration and occurring only 3-5 times a match at most.

I still have no idea what the underlying issue is here as I don't have issues with other games on the 5 GHz, but I'm absolutely positive it is causing issues with Mordhau.

Why are you even using wifi?

That looked like your router config. Disable Windows firewall or allow it through ip tables on Linux.
Id advise against hosting it yourself though. For $5 you can host a 24 slot server on a vps.

Known issue, devs are aware.

How do you know they are aware? Have they responded?

Yes

I saw the developer's response and he said that the way to fix it is verifying game files and the op from the post said it was fixed right away. This is unfixable as far as it looks for me. I even re-installed the game today and my rank is still incorrect. The other posts say it is a visual glitch, but even my friends see my rank as wrong in game and it fluctuates depending on the server I'm in. I am even receiving XP to be ranked up from my incorrect level.

I don't know the solution, but it has been recognised as a bug and they plan on fixing it. Not just in that post.

So... You're saying that Mordhau overheats the CPU?

No he is not. A properly built PC will limit usage after a temperature is reached, or max out if it is properly cooled, like he said. If they want to max out CPU usage then all the power to them (pun intended) because a lot of games don't, and suffer because of that.

I gotta be honest, don't think you're going to find a solution to this. Over time they could improve error checking and timeouts, but if your internet connection is that unstable I don't think you're going to get an immediate solution.

But then the question is, when is the next patch coming out? How long is this bug going to be an inconvenience for the players? Couldn't it just be hotfixed?

I think it's a client issue, so your gold is still there. It might even fix itself by tomorrow if it's similar to the level rollback issue.

This is a known issue and the devs are aware but it generally fixes itself over time.

Oh you misunderstand what remote means.

Nope

Microsoft disagrees with you. localhost is not referring to every device on your LAN it is only referring to your local host, aka the device you're directly interacting with. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=windows+localhost&t=brave&ia=web But whatever. It's off-topic.

You either didn't get what I meant by remote host or are just a complete prick. Either way you don't seem to want help.

Connecting to a server on LAN has been recognised by the devs as having issues. You said you tried this on Manjaro and windows, neither of which are commonly used operating systems for remote hosts. If you are getting the issue you pointed out on a remote host, then you haven't port forwarded correctly. I'm trying to help you, your short responses are not helping me do that. This is a problem on your end not mine or Mordhau. So help us help you.

I've had levels rollback recently but it fixes itself. Are you sure you've lost your items?

the cursor is shifted to the left, because of this I can not enter the settings, exit

Try mess around with windowed/fullscreen mode. I've had this in many games and I think that fixed it.

i run the server on the same pc that runs the game, if i didn't i would need to buy the fucking game again just for the stupid fucking server files.....
works perfectly honestly. no issues, no lags. other players get nice pings also

The server files are public and do not require an account.

You said you get the same with a remote host. That doesn't sound like a remote host.

I fail to see the reasoning behind having ports open and telling me I only have 1 computer.
