The 1080 is quite inferior to the 1080ti, by the way.

I have the following specs:

i7 7700k @4.9Ghz
Corsair H115i Cooler with Artic Silver 5 tim
1080ti @ 1.9Ghz and 6Ghz mem
32GB RAM @ 3000MHz
Game installed on M.2 SSD

All settings ultra with 1.25 resolution scale, FOV 101 with panini projection 0.25

Duel, Skirmish, TDM, DM etc (small maps): 135-144fps (capped at 144)
Frontline: 80-144fps - above 110 most of the time, though.

Steam overlay is on, but I'll try what wat mentioned above to see if that affects performance!

It seems like you're getting really good FPS for the settings you chose. I wouldn't really expect to get any more FPS on Frontline cause it's pretty apparent that the performance suffers once there's a high player count on a server. Would lowering your settings help at all?

Sadly I don't think that horde mode is a priority. It seems like a quickly put together game mode right now.

It runs bad.... but it also runs good for an UE4 game XD.
I swear people need to stop using this engine.

My fps is good except for when.... it's not, where I get a random fps drop.

It's not the engine it's just that nowadays devs don't care about optimization as much as they used to.

If you're getting shit fps you might try to disable Steam's in-game overlay.

Same with Rainbow Six: Siege - after introducing competitive matchmaking and improving it constantly the game received a huge boost in players even though it was almost dead.

Is that the agreed-upon concensus of why Rainbow Six Siege increased in popularity, all down to ranked matchmaking?

I don't think so but I personally feel that's the biggest factor. R6 is a highly competitive game and it's casual matchmaking doesn't even reflect half of the game's potential.
