Long story short:
These articles will continue until the devs leave the cozy warmth of their newly bought lounge chairs with massage feature and put away the professionally shaked cocktails with fresh lemon balm from the bar and finally stand up to argue against all this nonsense - or hire a community manager who does that on their behalf.

Noone is expecting a huge press conference with dancers and free beer, just a tiny bit of communication. They didn't do anything wrong that they need to apologise for and noone wants their heads chopped off, the only mistake they did is to stay silent when they were expected to just talk a bit in order to defuse a situation.

I’m not 100% sure I understand what this type of statement would accomplish. Trit has already announced they are, more or less, leaving the ‘power in the players hands’ and as such are giving the players mute functions to cancel out toixic players. Wether that was the right choice or not is irrelevant because that’s what they chose to pursue as their solution and they are backing their decision.

So if Triternion comes out and says “Just so we’re all clear, we don’t support white supremacy, toxic behavior or online bullying of any kind but have no further plans to tighten or increase moderation at this time.” I don’t really see that changing anything or making anyone less or more angry.

For a map that has one fucking objective - it’s hard to believe that something more lopsided than the original taiga can exist.
This map is literally a horse highway at blue spawn.

I understand resources are limited over at Trit but Holy fuck guys, cmon. It’s amazing that you even allow such a map to be included in frontline rotation. This needs a hot fix big time.

Fortunately most people hate this map enough to where it’s almost entirely avoided but when it does get voted for, holy shit does it feel terrible to play.

TBH even though the map is one giant flame engulfed choke point, I would still consider it playable if there weren’t 20 horses on constant respawn. Terrible.

Writing about Kingdom Come: Deliverance for RockPaperShotgun (another game that took pride in its “historical accuracy”, like Mordhau)

Historical accuracy.. pride... like mordhau? What?

I swear these authors browse the forums for a few days and think they know what the fuck they’re talking about.

Also, vice seems a little late to the party. Trit already released a statement defending themselves against these same allegations. Trash.

It’s not that they’re being silent they’ve just seldomly responded to a few threads here and there about plans for the future. So I don’t blame most people for missing the devs responses.

To my knowledge, they haven’t made major public announcements. I think a weekly dev blog would clear up a lot of confusion and ease some of the worry players have. But rest assured, they ARE infact working on updates and improvements. They just haven’t given us an ETA because they themselves don’t know when it will be finished.

For now, we know that they are working on a new map (Feitora), 1v1 ranked, content and general polish. SDK is in the works but apparently a long term project.

They need to do a total revamp of frontline and every map. This is what happens when all the devs' work goes into the mechanics and none into the modes or maps to supplement them. Frontline gets stale really quickly.

I don't know. Just seems more and more like casual players were a total afterthought and all their emphasis was on high level duels.

I do think that casuals were the target audience for frontline but I don’t disagree with anything else you’ve said. I don’t think ranked 1v1 should be a top priority tbh, although I am personally looking forward to it.

Just wanted to share what I know as far as development updates go.

To be fair, the other thread isn’t really for people who are regularly on the forums as most of them are already aware of any available info about updates. It was more or less so aimed at the many “why are the devs so silent” threads that keep popping up.

It seems when people found out female characters are planned, they assumed it is exclusively what is being worked on or that it is some top priority. It is not. We will probably be here in one year, still waiting for female characters.

The current priorities are ranked 1v1 and 3v3 modes, at least two large new maps, and modding tools. I do not think the developers have touched the female models at all, since it is a low priority

To clarify.. I don’t think any dev has said that female models are priority. All they’ve said is that we WILL get them. At some point.

I feel like people are assuming they are prioritizing females and ethnicities over larger updates just because it gets talked about so much.

Point being - they are currently working on maps, not females, to the best of my knowledge.

Edit: The female models are nearly completed BTW and have been for a long time I believe. It’s all in the games .ini file.

Because of the lack of any dev blogs or major announcements, I wanted to create a community driven thread as a platform to post any responses that forum members have received in regards to updates from the devs or moderators themselves. If successful, people can turn to this thread to look for news on any updates.

If anyone has news or has any information please feel free to share.

I’ll start with the last response I received from a few weeks ago..

@DrGert mod tools will come but it's not a super quick process. Right now main priorities are 1v1 ranked, Feitoria, and general polish with some smaller content additions. The mod SDK is the main long-term priority though.

This could be accomplished with an MMR system. There are plenty of other games that use MMR in unranked matches to keep the playing field leveled but honestly idk if the player base is even big enough for MMR to be impactful enough to make it worth it. I feel like certain players could end up spending a long time in queue for 64 player frontline servers.

For example if you have the shadows turned all the way down or set to “low” in your in-game video settings - when you open you .ini file your shadows should look like “shadows: 1”. Just change it to a 0 and you should be good to go. I can give you a file path if you don’t know how to access the .ini

I understand what your saying but the realism argument does not hold weight. This is a video game. And not even an extremely realistic one at that.

The only thing that matters is, does it feel interactive or fun to play with or against a shield. The answer to both of those is commonly, no.

It’s not about playing smarter. Shields are just not in the right place. A rework is definitely needed.

oh wise one, please enlighten us on these advanced high IQ strategies you use to defeat shield users

Honestly, relentless attacks takes care of em pretty quick.
You KNOW you have the stamina edge, play that

Keeping the pressure up works for duels sometimes but this is literally the worst strategy or advice you could give for frontline. No one has the luxury of having enough time to play the stamina game. And to be honest frontline is where the majority of shield frustration comes from. 95%+ of duel server population is 2 handers or targe + 1 hander.
