Since the stab is slower and actually threatening damage wise, the ES's threatening range is kinda longer in a sense.

Yeah in duel mode for sure. But people give me a MUCH wider berth in frontlines when I'm 720 noscope combo swinging the battle axe like a madman. They rush in when you swing the eveningstar in a similar fashion. I can see it's gonna be tough balancing this game for all the modes they've created.

lol eveningstar is the best weapon out there, insane damage and eats up stamina of your opponent. It was banned recently in the mordhua tournament.

https://mordhau.com/forum/topic/14267/closed-beta-tournament/

I hate having to ban anything intended for ingame use. And as such I used the polls to get player feed back what you want. So Halberd, Cleaver and Messer are back in. Just the Evening star will be the only weapon banned for this tournament. Next tournament we shall see it back in. I'm confident it will be a ready then.

So it's only good in duels? Good luck getting into a stam fight in frontline. Rare to have someone alone for the minute it takes to drain their stam.

I thought I liked it, but I haven't used my evening star mace merc for days..... it definitely feels lacking =/ And the only mace guys I see are in the default merc skin =/ Hardly see anyone with a custom made guy using it. Maybe it should do something useful, like break hands when you parry it with a little dagger, or knock shielders on their ass, or leg sweep people with a leg shot, or actually do something interesting.

I've put probably 30+ hours into the eveningstar, about half in duels and half in frontline. I wanted to love it, I really did, mostly because of the sick looking 50,000 gold skin it has. Truth is I loathe using it now that I've used the battleaxe in frontlines, which is so much better for 1vX. I'm almost always in the top 3 on my team when I use the battleaxe in frontline, K/D usually 2:1, when I pick the eveningstar I usually end up with a 1:1 K/D and not as high on the scoreboard.

In duels it might have a place though, the two-shot thrust attack against the head is not to be underestimated, and it can two-shot thrust against the body if you use it in alt-fire mode which lowers the length from 90cm to 60m -- 60cm is maul range.

Title

8 points for a 90 range, two shot weapon? Why not just pick up the battleaxe for 2 points less or the executioner's sword for 1 less point which is better in every way except thrusts. Really the only thing the eveningstar has going for it is a stronger thrust attack against the head.

Battleaxe vs Eveningstar

  • Is faster
  • Has multi-hit
  • Costs 2 less points
  • Nearly identical hits-to-kill but trades two-shotting T3 body armor for multi-hit

Executioner's Sword vs Eveningstar

  • Is faster
  • Has multi-hit
  • Is MUCH longer
  • Costs 1 less point
  • Better hits-to-kill, also one-shots T0 foot armor and two-shots T1 foot armor

I have grinded up about 50k for the eveningstar skin but I may hold onto it if they plan on releasing more in the near future. A 50000 gold battle axe skin would be kickass.

Can someone remind me why lunge is even in the game? seems people die to it a lot because it's so difficult to tell if someone is in range while you're backing up. Also makes small tactical retreats to gain space against multiple opponents almost impossible except for maybe 1-2 seconds.

Yeah there's no retreat unless you pick dodge, then you can occasionally keep dodging backward enough to create enough space to run.

Was it not in Chiv? I could go either way on lunge I just cannot seem to grasp exactly how to use it to its fullest extent. I'm using the eveningstar and my lunges are pathetic no matter my armor weight. Wish i could improve that ability to cover ground and surprise people that didn't think i was in range.

It depends on your speed, but you also have to keep it aimed away from your horse. If the lance clips into the horse, you'll lower it.

Thanks man this is working

When you press f to lower your weapon for a strike, what mechanic controls this, the game says speed but it's not that, sometime my weapon stays down forever and sometimes it pops right back up. Anyone know how this works?

I unlocked all the banners through level 30 properly, then bought the supporter pack at level 32 which gave some extra banners, and I've just hit level 35 and the banner for that level won't unlock. Have seen other people with this bug on the steam forums.

Sorry I'm daft but can you explain that more? Is it left swipe > hit > .... then what?

... then swing +0.3 seconds then stab, for example to fake a swing and stab instead.

Ok thanks I'll try this out and see if I can pull it off.

Bladed weapons cannot follow up an attack with a morph without stopping their combo, whereas blunt weapons can hit someone and then immediately morph without resetting initiative.

What? Crazy, I didn't know that. Mann how are you supposed to learn all this intricate stuff because it's not even in the guide is it?

I’m not sure about the current guides,(Honestly I never read them, you can learn a lot by just playing) but I know that various content creators and the community manager, Jax, are working on a very in-depth guide that I think is coming out shortly.

I'm trying really hard to replicate this with the eveningstar and I can't. Are you saying I can go left swipe > right swipe morph into stab, or are you saying i can go left swipe > stab while still being in combo?

I'm saying that you can do any sort of morph after hitting someone.

Sorry I'm daft but can you explain that more? Is it left swipe > hit > .... then what?

Also, blunt weapons are a direct counter to armored foes, in terms of damage.

But this is not really true if you think about the amazing swords we have. Messer, executioners, estoc can all 2 shot tier 3 armor. The maul is in a good place, I just think the other blunts are not, I'm talking about actual blunts not mordhau grip wepaons.

Why are blunt weapons handicapped in this way? It makes say, the eveningstar a horrible choice for thick frontlines combat because if you so much as graze a teamate your swing is over and the enemy in front of you is unscathed. Contrast this with the execution sword which will cut through every single person, friendly or foe.

I really just don't get the design choice, blunts have nothing to 'make up' for their inability to penetrate with swipes. All they have is a negative.
