An update on a bug I reported earlier:
I assigned a weapon selection on the key "J" sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt respond.
Maybe J was assigned to a debug command in pre-alpha?
I'm not sure, as I said, I could chamber swords by aiming anywhere on the blade, even the part that wouldn't touch me...
The best way to land a kick is to do it as a riposte right after you parry someone getting too close.
And then you win, because you can combo kick-thrust-kick-thrust and there's nothing the opponent can do. (just make sure to move forward when you thrust)
It's an easy technique, its a guaranteed kill and if the feinter you kill cries... tell him to git gud
I did lots of slowmo testing, and yet there is something i'm not quite sure about.
When chambering a pole weapon, do I have to aim at the tip or does it work if I aim at the shaft?
Because while chambering swords slashes can get tricky, it's really not impossible even with weird angles. Even aiming just above the crossguard is enough. But with poleweapons, it feels so inconsistent...
Nice, now do that vid again against a poleaxe
Oh, I had a longsword when I was testing ^^
I'm back testing slowmo with bots. kick doesn't drain stamina when successful, AND its speed is actually decent when used as a riposte after a successful parry.
I also noticed that while chambering thrusts is easy, chambering any slash angle that isn't horizontal is very, VERY difficult, especially with pole weapons.
Still feints should at least drain as much stamina as a missed hit, which really isn't the case ATM
They might take less when they are successful, I haven't checked that.
Also, the turncap on the kick is way too strong. By it's essence, kick had to be used on facehuggers. And facehuggers move pretty fast around you since they are so close...
This.
The slow, useless, rangeless, turn capped kick costs 1/4 of stamina. Feint not even half of that.
It's ok to use feints, it's a core mechanic of the game, I understand that. But when spamming it is the way to win, there's a problem.
And don't give my that "git gud" bullshit. If it was only about that, you would be spamming chambers as much as you spam feints by now.
I can't map J for secondary weapon. It worked right after the #3 update, then the game crashed when I spammed it and now it doesn't work anymore
I don't side with havoc on this, but talking to most of those who played slasher wouldn't take long.
Yeah but we are a lot here who want to play with a female character <3
I can bind the weapon selection on something else than 12345 now, thanks!
nevermind that, the infinite buffering for the weapon angle made chambering easier
or just having a big "You are blue/red" when you spawn, that disappears right away
The problem with chambering is they are hard to execute. Or to be precise, slash chambers are hard...
Within 5 minutes, I managed to learn thrust chambers. No big deal with thrusts.
But chambering slashes not only require timing but also orientation and aiming, so maybe having the bigger window for them would help.
Because right now, the reward/difficulty ratio is way higher for feints than chambers.
Feints are one click and a guaranteed hit when successful, while chambers are though to handle and when successful still can get blocked or counter-chambered.
So it's like playing rock-paper-scissors, but you end up with scissors half the time you want to pull a paper..
Awesome! :D
I'll keep my eyes open next game to see if I spot Suzanne
"i'm gonna get a boner"
XD
Good good good
