Gameplay & Mechanics

  • Added compensation for accelerated attack mouse manipulation during first 0.25s of release. This will greatly increase readability on accelerated strikes, and make sure these attacks do not exceed a certain velocity.
  • Feint lockout system now also compensates for faster weapons, up to 500ms windup which will make certain faster weapons easier to feint punish
  • Chambering chambers (including chamber morphs) no longer costs stamina (Experimental)
  • Getting hit by friendlies no longer causes equipment to drop (e.g. bows)
  • Buffed chase mechanic
  • Medic bag now awards score if friendlies consume it
  • Jump stamina cost reduced by 1 (12)
  • Max. morph window reduced 25ms (only affects weapons with bigger windups)
  • Inverse attack direction setting now split into 2 separate ones, one for X and one for Y. The options are available in the controls menu.
  • Increased kick's cosmetic tracer range (used for kicking ragdolls) so it can kick stuff on the ground easier (like dismembered heads)
  • Toolbox placeables now work on movables and travel with them
  • Prevented building on top of existing toolbox deployables (like on first model of spikes)
  • Spike wall damage now deals greatly reduced damage if you block, get blocked or are attacking.
  • Spike wall now attributes kills properly
  • Improved smoke and fire spawning logic

Weapon & Equipment Balance

  • Slightly nerfed repair amount of repair hammers
  • Blacksmith hammer strike windup slowed down 25ms
  • Medic bag now has 4 uses instead of 6, but always heals full. Hold to heal time was increased slightly.
  • Longbow huntsman damage buffed to 300%, crossbow huntsman damage buffed to 250% - this will effectively make chain armor only affect melee and keep one shot for those weapons
  • Longbow point cost increased by 1
  • Huntsman no longer affects legs
  • Halberd point cost increased by 1
  • Battle Axe main mode strike release reduced 25ms
  • Battle Axe alt mode strike windup & strike combo windup speed up 25ms
  • Eveningstar main mode strike release reduced 25ms
  • Maul now has 10cm more range
  • Firepot wood damage increased slightly
  • Toolbox ammo to 6, adjusted weapon switch time
  • Tweaks for field spawning (fire/smoke) to work better (still glitchy though)

Animations & Netcode

  • Fixed an anim bug that caused some ugly bounce forward when entering/leaving ladder and possibly elsewhere
  • Improved active ragdoll looks
  • Smoother 3p online climbing
  • Offhand IK is now set instantly in 1p equipment switches which fixes the case where it dragged the offhand across the screen (especially when switching from 2h to 2h)
  • Made flinch animations way more responsive

Maps

  • Various fixes for map exploits

Visuals & Misc

  • Added blunt gore - bone breaks and head explosions
  • Improved gore mesh placement into limb sockets
  • Partial dismemberment prevents sticking the limbs into the ground now
  • Various ragdoll & force tweaks and improvements
  • Added some sanity checks for projectiles firing too far from where the client should be
  • Baggy pants no longer clip naked ches
  • Added Chains to bare chest
  • Fixed armory orientation for toolbox
  • Increased input block on death by 2 seconds so the death animation has more time to finish before you can switch to spectate

Vehicles

  • Fixed vehicle leaving not setting the correct motion. This bug was present for a long time and broke various things, but most notoriously the ladder eating attacks after leaving it. Now it applies the correct lockouts and cancels actions. May have some unintended side effects or bugs as some things had to be reworked slightly network wise.
  • Ladders can no longer be entered from behind

Audio

  • Added blunt gore sounds
  • Added bolt pickup sound
  • Added crossbow reload sound
  • Added grip switching sounds
  • Added bow reload sound

UI

  • Added “Killed by” panel which provides information about your opponent’s health and stamina, as well as their equipment and perks at the time of death

Known Issues

  • Performance regressions on Tourney due to missing HLOD
  • Ladders can be hard to enter from the top in some cases
  • Active ragdolls can be glitchy
  • Loadout switching in Skirmish in between rounds or during warmup can occasionally not work and needs multiple retries
  • Broken 1p shadows
  • Cloth is disabled on Medium Horse and Gambeson skirt
  • Cloth bunches up in Armory
  • Cloth can cause micro stuttering

Level Design

  • Fixed map exploits and wonky collision on Contraband

User Interface

  • Added beginner tutorial video to the home page, created by community member Jax
  • Armory controls panel is now open by default
  • Death tips are visible for longer and styled differently
  • Fixed server browser getting cut off in 4:3 resolutions
  • Potential fix for killfeed blur bug
  • Changelog button links directly to the forum thread now

Gameplay

  • Regen is no longer stopped by some actions (emotes, etc)
  • Match warmup time increased from 15s to 20s (Skirmish from 10s to 20s)
  • Kick stun increased by 100ms
  • 300ms grace period before you can get kick-stunned again after being in a stun state (will just knockback and no flinch in that case)
  • Successful kick recovery reduced to 0.2 (from 0.4)
  • Auto-equip is now smarter when picking up/spawning, it will try to equip both a weapon and shield instead of holstering it.
  • Trying to interact with a stickied weapon with no free equipment slots will now cause that weapon to fall off the character (can even do it on others or on self)
  • Fixed an edge case where backswings were possible
  • Fixed spear slash not doing any damage to heavy legs (damage value oversight)
  • Fixed 1h axe stab not doing damage to heavy legs (damage value oversight)
  • Smarter spawn point selection logic that takes into account proximity of friendlies/enemies/crowdedness
  • Attack parry during riposte and chamber no longer knockbacks the defender
  • Poleaxe damage adjustments (no longer 2 shots medium/heavy armor with torso hits)
  • Removed dubaxe battle axe head (will be added in the future as a seperate map spawn pickup weapon)
  • Throwing weapons after being thrown now switch to a weapon if there is one
  • Added stamina on melee kills, current value is 30
  • Weapon mode is now remembered when holstering (still resets on drop)
  • m.autoftp 0 now works correctly when feint and block are bound to the same key
  • Fixed bug where players would sometimes spawn naked/without customization
  • Potential fix for hit sounds not playing on certain hits
  • Projectiles won't sticky to hands and feet anymore
  • Fixed team join restrictions not taking into account the player that wants to switch teams
  • Skirmish no longer counts scores/deaths/teamkills/etc during round end

Visuals

  • Thrown weapons will now bloody themselves to the max if they hit flesh
  • Added console variable m.headbob that scales headbob (0-1), but only applies to some headbobs like footsteps (by design)
  • Fixed 3p death cam bug online, also added some lockouts to spectator input when it's created since players have a tendency to mash buttons before/after dying
  • Separated limbs are now more likely to create their own pool of blood (less distance check to other pools)
  • Zoomed out facesculpt a bit

Known Issues:

  • Emote menu stops movements sometimes.
  • Profile select menu causes the input to become sticky.
  • Crashes may occur on Alt+Tab during loading screens, use Borderless Fullscreen if it happens to you.
  • During spectate, players may become invisible except for the person being spectated.
  • Server leaving message plays twice
  • SteamVR launches with the game, causing huge performance problems.
  • Flickering between the main menu and loading screen can occur on start-up.
  • Initial level load camera is broken and spawns you at 0 0 0.
  • Bots are afraid of heights.

Changelog:

Level Design:

  • Fixed even more exploits on Contraband.
  • Added first pass HLOD to Contraband.
  • Bunch of LODs for meshes mainly used in Contraband.
  • Fixed big tent collision on Camp
  • Collision improvements on Camp
  • Fixed a stuck spot on Grad.

Gameplay:

  • Added health on kills, currently 30 (Currently just placeholder for a new regen mechanic that will be added on kills later)
  • When in air e.g. during jumps, leg damage modifier is reduced by 50%, so more damage is taken
  • Attached weapons can now be detached even if they're stuck in objects/shields via use key when inventory is full
  • Lag compensation netcode now uses median ping rather than mean, making it more robust/stable and responsive to varying network conditions.
  • Removed riposte feints
  • Eveningstar strike release lowered by 25ms
  • Reduced miss cost of eveningstar by 7 stamina
  • Decreased halberd stab damage
  • Increased halberd stab combo windup
  • Increased halberd stab release by 25ms
  • Decreased mordhau stab damage
  • Mordhau stab release time increased 25ms
  • Mouse attack angling now angles after detecting movement after button press, or until button is released, same as it works in MnB/Wotr
  • Shield hitbox can now be kicked when it is equipped (whether holding block or not doesn't matter).

Visuals:

  • Head tracking changes, preventing it from breaking and better limits
  • Fixed some animation bugs introduced in last patch mostly related to offhand sticking to the weapon e.g. after a kick
  • Chain Coif and Padded Coif hide beards now.
  • Camera distance and FOV is now accounted for visually to reduce/remove the effect of arms looking cut off in 1P
  • Fixed weapons appearing too early in 1p during equipment switch
  • Fully updated and added LODs for all missing armor/equipment.
  • m.showobserveddelay can now be turned on

Changelog:

User Interface

  • Target name now displays enemy/ally when alive where the spectator text would be
  • Extended target info range by 75% (means the name at the bottom of your screen shows up from farther away)

Level Design:

  • Another round of exploit fixing on Contraband.

Gameplay:

  • Added ToggleDamage console command, requires admin and sets damage factor to 0 until toggled back to normal, can also be done locally
  • DamageFactor is now exposed to ini, server owners (or for local play) can adjust it same as TeamDamageFactor
  • Fix attempt for hit sounds not playing
  • Feint recovery is now dynamic based on how far into windup you feint, late feint recovery is now 450ms, lowest feint recovery is 25ms (when you feint right after the attack starts) - this will let you combine some mechanics in various ways, e.g. you can now feint to chamber
  • Skirmish round time from 3 minutes to 2:30 minutes
  • Fixed health and stamina on kill being awarded for teamkills
  • Reduced kick miss recovery by 200ms
  • Kick has more width tracers, fixing edge cases where the kick would clip trough enemies and not hit
  • Morphs now cost stamina - one handed weapons 3 stamina cost, two handed weapons 6, attacks with windup at .65 or above cost 9 to morph out of (affected by this are halberd normal mode stab -- zweihander stab & strike (normal mode) -- greatsword normal mode stab -- spear normal mode strike & stab -- eveningstar strikes)
  • Poleaxe blunt side strikes now 2 shots heavy armor to torso
  • Raised damage on mordhau strike and stab slightly, you can now combine 2 strikes to torso + torso stab to kill heavy armor, or 2 torso stabs + strike headshot
  • Fixed being able to attack out of emotes, instead just cancels it
  • Set up some turncaps for locked emotes
  • Added 15 new various emotes (some of them currently do not hide weapons, when they should)
  • Improved some existing emotes, squat now loops etc.
  • Increased default server tick rate from 30 to 60
  • Fixed session not getting destroyed when quitting a match
  • The game now exits when the Steamworks API fails to initialize
  • Mouse sensitivity sliders now display more sensible values
  • m.inverseattackdirection, m.togglesprint, m.autoftp, m.showcrosshair, and m.headbob can now be changed in the settings
  • Fixed not being able to kick while crouching, now it allows it but forces uncrouch

Visuals:

  • Fixed plate arms appearing twice for Footsoldier chest. This may shuffle your loadout's arms a little if it used Footsoldier chest.
  • Added blank Emblem. (Loadouts will have their Emblems offset by one entry)

  • Fixed cloth physics jitter when saving customization
  • TracerStayTime now works

Changelog:

User Interface

  • Lowered max char count in chat messages to 300 from 500
  • Chat box now force scrolls to the bottom when opened
  • Chat hide timer now resets when a new message is received

Level Design:

Gameplay:

  • Fixed slomo and ping compensation breaking online - will improve hit detection

  • Bardich damage buff vs armor (you can now 2 shot plate/medium armor with a headshot + torso slash)
  • Rapier slash damage nerf against naked/light armor
  • Increased backpedal speed from 0.75 to 0.8 (let's try this again and this time test it a bit longer)
  • Raised missed kick stamina cost to 35
  • Experimental sprint acceleration modifier values:
    -Plate armor - unchanged
    -Medium armor - 0.2 for head, 0.2 for torso, 0.1 for legs (overall not much faster than plate)
    -Light armor - 0.7 for head, 0.7 for torso, 0.2 for legs (significantly faster)
    -Naked - 1.0 for head, 1.0 for torso, 0.25 for legs (fastest, going bare head is now a lot more rewarding aswell)
  • Chamber lockout reduced by 125ms (you can now counter chamber chambers from faster weapons with your own chamber which wasnt possible before in some cases)
  • Slowkick removed, in its place is now a smooth scaling longer windup for kicks that goes from 0 to 300ms. The 300ms case is only for being able to kick 100ms earlier in flinch. Some testing may be necessary to ensure we have the right kick slowdowns in place.
  • Morphs can now chamber
  • Added small lockout to starting a new emote
  • Removed translation from 1p movement anims and from 3p movement anims (server only): this improves hit detection overall and 1p online hit detection is further improved especially during movement.
  • Added togglestamina command to disable stamina on local/server if admin
  • Added console variable m.StabOnStrikeYAxis set this to 1 to use stabs on low/high y axis strike button (past the 60/-60 point used for strikes), similar to Mount & Blade.
  • No longer possible to combo at 0 stam
  • Lowered max release time from 0.575 to 0.55 (affected weapons are: Zweihander, Halberd, Billhook, Greatsword)
  • Clash lockout to 0.2, fixed some queuing problems for clash possibly
  • Crouch spine bending for non attacks is now 85% (75% previously)
  • Spine bending for non attacks increased, is now 100% (75% previously)
  • Spear lowered stab windups by 25ms, increased stab release 25ms, decreased stab combo times by 100ms

Visuals:

  • Fixed some issues with inertia stopping/starting related to feet, but probably won't be noticeable
  • Fixed squat sliding
  • New eveningstar set
  • Set some critical textures to never stream to hopefully fix the stutter on first hits on slower systems.
  • Jiggle physics disabled for now (the old ones) until more work is done on them.
  • Character headshake / bob now plays on footstep so it is more synced
  • Adjusted run/walk shake
  • Setup headshake for left/right steps
  • 1P strike releases adjusted to match 3P exactly, this improves collision detection online.
  • New 3p equipping animations
